Millie squinted slightly and dropped it. Shera was a little too confident.
“Fine! Now get to the point. What did you want to talk about?”

“Stop!” Millie raised a hand.
“I’m not interested in any of this. If you broughthere to talk about your past, countout.”

Then, she turned around and was about to open the door, but Shera stepped forward and held her hand.

They stared at each other, each person determined to bring the other down.
“Ask Marcus to withdraw his complaint. I can’t go to jail.”
Millie narrowed her eyes and said, “I’m sorry. I cannot grant your request.”
Shera said confidently, “Don’t be so quick to answer. You haven’t heard everything.”
The look on Shera’s face scared Millie a little.
“What is it?”
