Chapter 136
Felicity was infuriated by Veronique, and her lingering anger prompted her to refuse to meet with
Anonymous.
In her opinion, Anonymous was merely someone fishing for fame with nothing to show. Yet, the latter
dared to act all high and mighty.
Felicity, the matriarch of the Luther family, had lowered herself to beg Anonymous, yet the latter
remained hidden. As a result, she thought Anonymous was pretentious and playing hard to get.
Since Anonymous was reluctant to show her face, Felicity decided not to be courteous anymore.
She reckoned there were so many gifted people with amazing skills in the world, and Anonymous could
not be the only person who knew how to perform a craniotomy.
She refused to believe that without Anonymous, they could only watch Glen dying in a hospital bed.
Cadence was a middle-aged man around forty years old, handsome, and of mixed parentage.
He had practiced medicine for over twenty years and performed many craniotomies. Therefore,
Cadence was very experienced in that field.
“Mrs. Luther, I will have to meet with Old Mr. Chivers to understand his condition better before I can
finalize a treatment plan.”
“Of course, of course. You traveled so far to Hallsbay, so I figured you must not have obtained proper
rest on the private plane. I've already instructed the servants to prepare the guest room for you. You
can adapt yourself to the time difference for now. I'll bring you to the Chivers residence once you're
well-rested.”
With that, she turned to look at the butler, who was standing aside in silence, and said, “Lex, guide Dr.
White to the guest room. See to his needs and immediately order the servants to handle anything he
requires. Make sure Dr. White is well-accommodated.”
“All right.”
Watching Lex leading Cadence away, Felicity reached out to hold Rhonda's palm and gently patted the

had it rough lately, going to all that trouble to seek treatment for Artemis' granddad's illness. I can even
see the obvious dark circles under your eyes.”
Rhonda smiled compliantly and proceeded to butter Felicity up with flattery. “I think of Artemis'
granddad as my own granddad. Therefore, it is my obligation to care for his well-being. I was afraid my
incompetence might cause me to fail to handle this task abroad. Fortunately, I was blessed to be able
to convince Dr. White to help us.”
“You are truly a filial and good-natured child. I can rest assured with you as the matriarch of the Luther
family. You should stay here in the Luther residence instead of returning to the Jefferson residence. Do
your best to nurture your relationship with Artemis while you're here and strive for his agreement to get
married as soon as possible.”
Rhonda was overjoyed.
She had spent so much time and effort hiring Cadence for the sake of returning to the Luther family.
Now that she had achieved her goal, Rhonda thought it was worth it for her to pay the price with her
body.
In order to satisfy Cadence's perverted desires, she had suffered greatly in bed for the past few days.
“Thank you, Mrs. Luther. I'll do my best.”
Felicity let out a sigh. “I wonder if Dr. White is capable or not.”
Rhonda gazed downward. I don't know if he's capable or not in the medical field, but I do know he's
exceptionally outstanding in bed, with all the various positions he tried with me. He mentioned
something about wanting to get a thorough taste of me because I'm Artemis' woman.
Recollecting those scenes, she felt disgust churn within her and wanted to vomit.
Cadence is indeed someone who originated from Uramuzor, living up to the reputation of being
lecherous and twisted to his core.
“Don't worry, Mrs. Luther. Dr. White is an expert in this area. He has performed hundreds of surgeries.
With his rich experience, he will definitely be able to save Granddad's life.”
Felicity patted Rhonda's hand again and chirped, “All right. Okay. Thank you again for your goodwill.
You should take care of your health by getting some rest now. I suppose you must be exhausted after a
few days of hard work.”
A hint of hatred flashed across Rhonda's eyes.
I'm indeed exhausted after spending all my energy in bed. Bailey, I will tear you into pieces!
The following day, Felicity brought Cadence to the Chivers residence in the afternoon.
At that moment, laughter and cheerful chatter reverberated inside the living room.
While Felicity led Cadence up the stairs, a familiar voice sounded, prompting her face to darken
instantaneously.
Beside her, Rhonda scoffed loudly.
What a small world. I can't believe we're running into Bailey, even at this place.
“What's the matter, Mrs. Luther? Why aren't you moving forward?” Cadence asked.
Felicity took a deep breath to suppress her rising anger and forced a smile. “It's nothing. I was lost in
my thoughts because I was reminded of something just now. Let's go in and discuss further.”
Inside the living room, three kids were playing cards with an old man while Bailey and Gwendolyn sat
aside, chatting. It was a harmonious scene.
“Haha! Great-granddad lost again. Zayron, hurry up and stick the paper on Great-granddad's face.
Faster, faster!”
Glen covered his forehead and sighed. “Alas. I'm indeed getting old. I can't even deny my old age now
that I'm losing in card games to a few children.”
When Felicity entered the living room, she witnessed Zayron sticking a piece of paper with the doodle
of a turtle on Glen's face. Her eyes gleamed sinisterly as fury overwhelmed her.
“Outrageous! How dare you disrespect your great-grandfather in such a manner, you insolent bastard!”
Zayron's hands trembled and accidentally tore the paper in half. He pursed his lips and snorted. “Great-
granddad, you can't always blame me for being naughty when the words uttered by your daughter can
be very displeasing to the ears sometimes. I really cannot stand her.”
Glen flicked Zayron's forehead and glared at the latter. “She's still your grandmother regardless of how
unpleasant her words may be.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“But she has never thought of me as her grandson. She's always referring to me as a bastard, and
that's very irritating.”
Zayron did not bother lowering his voice. He even deliberately raised his tone so that Felicity, heading
toward them, could hear him clearly.
Felicity mustered all her patience to contain her burning wrath. She reached the seating area, came to
a halt, and said to Glen, “Father, you are already so old. How can you allow these brats to make fun of
you? Have you gone senile?”
Glen was enraged by her remarks. He glowered at her and scolded, “You infuriated me when I was
staying in the Luther residence. Now that I'm back in the Chivers residence, you're still not letting me
have peace of mind. Why don't you just send me to Springwyn for me to finally be able to feel at ease?
At least then I can have peace and quiet.”
Gritting her teeth, Felicity suddenly shrieked, “Father! I've been losing sleep because I'm so worried
about your illness. Not only do you not sympathize or understand my sentiment, but you are siding with
outsiders to rebuke me! I really do wonder if you realize who your closest family member is?”
Glen snorted coldly and waved his hand at her as if chasing away a fly. “You can go back now. You're
worried for nothing because I'm fine. You can focus on your duties as the matriarch of the Luther family
and leave the task of handling my condition to your brother and nephew. There's no need for you to
meddle in this matter.”
Felicity was stumped.
Glen's action of chasing her away in front of so many people was like a slap in the face for her.
She shifted her stern gaze onto Bailey and began finding fault with the latter. “Why are you here? Ms.
Bailey, since you've had a one-night stand with Simon, you're considered his woman now. I forbid you
from cheating on Simon with his brother. If you still care the slightest for your reputation, you should
learn to mind your own business and stop flirting and seducing men you're not supposed to.”
Rage had consumed Felicity's rationale. Disregarding her image and status, she chastised Bailey like a
shrew, spouting all kinds of harsh terms.
