Chapter 223
Anonymous...
A dubious expression flashed past Bailey's face. It had been a long time since she heard that name.
If not for the man beside her doing his best to help her out of her past trauma, perhaps she might have
never appeared in the medical field as Anonymous.
“I should be the one thanking you. If it wasn't for that stab you took, I might still be trapped in that
forlorn past. I might not even be able to pick up the scalpel, let alone develop drugs and operate on
others.”
Artemis' brows raised in a smile. “So, you're telling me that the stab I took opened your heart up to me?
It allowed me to walk into your life?”
Bailey rolled her eyes at him. Can't this man grow eyes and see where we're at? Must he say such
cheesy things now?
“Ms. Anonymous, may we know when this medication will be available in the market for cancer
patients?”
“Yes, that's right. The fourth clinical trial is a success, which means this anti-cancer medication is a
success. When will it be available for purchase on the market?”
The reporters were all pointing their microphones at Bailey as they uttered similar questions about
when the medication would be made available to the public.
Bailey smiled. As she turned to look at the men beside her, she said, This drug is a patented research
and development project by Luther Group's pharmaceutical factory after making the application for the
project with the Drug Administration. What happens next will depend on Mr. Luther's arrangements. I'm
only in charge of the research.”
Before the reporters could begin bombarding him with questions, Artemis said, “First of all, I have to
thank Ms. Anonymous for her massive contribution to the medical field. I have already applied for the
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMedal of Honor with the relevant governmental departments.”
At that, a look of surprise crossed Bailey's face.
He applied for the Medal of Honor for me?
A strange feeling began to rise in her chest. If someone were to ask her to describe that feeling, she
would say that it felt warm and tender. It was a feeling that she had not experienced after her
grandmother passed away.
“You—”
Before she could complete her sentence, Artemis continued, “As for when the medication will be made
available to the public, I'm afraid we'll have to wait for the relevant departments to make the decision.
Once the results are out, Luther Group will hold another press conference to announce it to the public.”
After exiting the press conference, Artemis brought Bailey back to the CEO's office.
While they were in the private elevator, Bailey gazed at him and sighed. “To be honest, you don't need
to apply for an award from the government. Doctors are meant to do their job, so I've only done what I
should be doing. If I receive too much recognition for what I've done, I'll lose track of the goal I had
when I first joined the medical field.”
However, Artemis grinned at her as he shoved a hand into his pants pocket and leaned against the
elevator wall. “I like doting on you. I'd love to dote on you until you're all spoiled.”
Ever since he found out that Zayron was his son, the last bit of hesitance in his heart had dissipated.
As long as Bailey had no connections with Simon, he could shower her with love endlessly without fear.
He only restrained himself earlier because he was worried that he would create trouble for her if he
accidentally crossed the line.
Now, it was a different case. If anyone were to say that he was immoral to have gotten together with his
brother's wife, he would bravely throw the DNA test report at that person's face.
She's my woman. No one has the right to say anything even if we bedded each other for a few nights
continuously.
While Artemis was entertaining those thoughts in his head, Bailey was narrowing her eyes at him.
Somehow, she sensed that the man had changed. He had become less reserved, a little too gutsy, and
a little too unrestrained.
She was curious as to what had made him change—what made him dote on her without any
reservations. Isn't he scared of others talking bad about us?
After all, she was his brother's wife in the moral sense. Even though she did not marry Simon, she was
someone Simon had been with.
Artemis could be close to any woman but her.
Does this man really want the rest of the world to curse at him?
“Artemis, are you really thinking of marrying me?”
All of a sudden, the man straightened up and schooled his features into a serious look.
“You will be the one and only wife I will ever have. Bailey, I know what you're worried about. Give me a
little more time, and I'll deal with everything. It's not the right time yet, so there are some things I can't
tell you for now.”
Bailey pressed her lips tightly upon hearing his reply.
Hmm, I might be wasting my time talking to a brick. This man has gone off his rocker. He won't heed
my words at all.
When Artemis heard her silence, he changed the topic. “I hear that Rhonda came to you and asked
you to design her wedding dress?”
“Mm.” Bailey nodded. “We're sisters. I can't just sit on my hands for her wedding, so I agreed to it.”
Artemis smiled. “Good. Remember to design the most luxurious wedding dress you can ever come up
with. I have to thank her for toying the Luthers as if we were all monkeys.”
Victoria had never seen Lionel in person ever since their meeting the other day at Fashionista's office
lobby.
No matter what she did, she could not get into contact with him.
The authorities had informed them they found evidence of Victor committing the crimes. As the amount
of money involved was a large sum, and due to the actions of LG Corporation's person in charge in the
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmshadows, it seemed like the court was going to punish him severely for his crimes. Things were not
looking good.
Left without a choice, Victoria called Bailey.
Not long after, Victoria came to Shelbert Condominium's study.
“Bay, you know Lionel, right?”
Bailey tensed.
After a while of silence, she frowned and asked, “How did you know that?”
Victoria pursed her lips and gritted out, “Dwayne told me about it. He had investigated Lionel for me,
and he found out that you were the one who published the picture of Rhonda and Laurence in bed
together through LG Corporation. That's why he deduced that you knew Lionel.”
Bailey let out a soft sigh and nodded. She muttered, “It's true that I know the CEO of LG Corporation,
but I didn't know he was Lionel before coming to Hallsbay. Every time I contacted him, it was through
the phone—I never once saw him before coming here.”
Victoria grabbed her wrist and choked out, “Bay, please help me. Please contact him for me. Please. I
have to meet him, or else my brother is going to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Once he's found
guilty, there's no way we can appeal for his case anymore.”
Bailey cast a heart-aching look at her and said, “Vicky, you can't find him because he's avoiding you.
I'm afraid there's no way out of this anymore, so why must you insist on seeking to be humiliated?”
“But I can't watch as Victor stays in jail for the rest of his life! Bay, I know you feel bad for me, but what
is the point of a person's life if she disowns her family? If I abandon my brother today, I will end up
abandoning my father another day. Without my father and my brother, what is the meaning of life for
me?”
Bailey hesitated, but in the end, she agreed to it.
However, she did not call Lionel; she sent him a text message instead.
Bailey: If you keep this up, even I will have trouble keeping Victoria around. She's on the verge of a
mental breakdown. If the last thread of sanity in her mind snaps, what awaits her will be madness.
