Chapter 291

“Is it a hard decision to make?” Bailey queried.

However, Zeke shook his head. “It seems like it's the only choice we have. All right. I'll try to contact

Shirley and ask her to come to Hallsbay.”

Bailey then stood up from her chair and took her sling bag from the table. “I have something else to do,

so I'll excuse myself first. I'll have to trouble you to keep a closer eye on Dyke Pharmaceutical so that

the first batch of medication can be made available to the public as quickly as possible.”

“Okay.”

After returning to the medical base, the first thing she saw from afar was the siblings, Zayron and

Susan, playing happily with Edmund.

Their calls of “Daddy Eddy” echoed in the spacious field and warmed the hearts of the onlookers.

No one could be a better father to the two children than Edmund.

Bailey felt that there was no harm in trying to accept him if he was the father the siblings chose to have.

But what is that aching and frustrating feeling in my heart?

“What are you thinking about?”

While she was lost in her thoughts, Edmund had reached her side.

Bailey gave him a faint smile. “Nothing. I just feel at peace watching you play with your kids.”

Edmund took her hand and led her to the artificial lake.

As Susan watched the two head there, she clapped fervently and cried out, “Daddy Eddy finally won

over Bailey's heart. Zayron, did you hear that? Bailey said 'you and your kids.' That means she accepts

Daddy Eddy! She accepts him as family!”

However, Zayron narrowed his eyes a little and shot a glance at the girl as a mocking look flashed past

his face.

That's because you don't know who your real dad is. If it was that dense guy Simon, Daddy Eddy might

still stand a chance. But it's that sly old fox, Artemis. Even if there are ten Daddy Eddys around, they're

still no match for Artemis. Just give up on that!

Meanwhile, Bailey was leaning against the railing by the artificial lake and smiling. “Let's just get

straight to the point instead of beating around the bush. There aren't any secrets between us,

Edmund.”

Edmund chuckled. He then asked, “Bay, when are you planning to leave Hallsbay? Cadence's now

dead, and no one's going to lay a finger on the medication anymore. Doesn't that mean we can leave

without regrets?”

Bailey sighed as she slowly dropped the smile on her face. In a tired tone, she said, “I'm afraid I won't

be able to leave for the next two weeks. I'm representing Chanaea in the International Programming

Competition, so I have to stay here until the competition ends.”

Edmund's interest was piqued when he heard her mention that. “You've never shown off your abilities,

so why did you join the International Programming Competition this time?”

A bitter smile crept upon Bailey's lips before she briefly told him about how she had hacked into the

research institute to steal Scarlett's documents.

“That's what happened. It would be easier to deal with if I had crossed someone ordinary, but the other

person is from the Fletcher family. Now that the cyberspace administration department has taken over

the investigation, it's only a matter of time before they realize my involvement. That's why I'm in a rush

to get an achievement so that they can't lay a finger on me.”

Edmund lifted a brow and said, “It seems like you have quite an impressive identity in this field. Mind

revealing something to me?”

Bailey's eyes flicked toward him before she walked over to the gazebo. “I'm the top hacker, Spook.”

A look of surprise flashed past Edmund's eyes.

It was not because he learned that she was the best hacker internationally but because he

remembered that Spook had hacked into Artemis' account half a year ago, causing him to lose three

billion. For that, Artemis had chased after Spook across the globe for half a year.

So Spook is Bay? She's unbelievable to have the guts to mess with Artemis.

Edmund could not stop the chuckle from escaping his lips as he watched her leave in a suave manner.

She was far too marvelous, and sometimes, he felt that he was not worthy of her.

Perhaps it would be a difficult feat to find a man in this world who could stand by a brilliant woman like

Bailey.

In a private room of the café by the corner, Vincent was sitting by the window, his gaze fixed on the

busy street outside.

He had been waiting there for an hour, but there was still no sign of Lionel.

The old butler stepped forward and tried to convince him to leave. “Mr. Saunders, you're in poor health,

and an hour is your limit. I don't think Mr. Gezmond will be coming, so let's go home first.”

An intense bout of coughing and panting echoed in the room. “L-Let's wait for a little longer. I'm the one

who has something to request from him, so I have to be humble.”

The butler sighed and quietly retreated to the side.

Vincent had already found out about Victoria attempting to send herself to jail by committing a

commercial crime.

However, instead of looking for Victoria, he had gone to look for Lionel.

The butler could vaguely figure out what Vincent was trying to do.

After all, at this point, the only way to keep Ms. Victoria safe is to—

Right then, the door swung open, and Lionel entered the room.

Vincent quickly stood up and hastily said, “Lionel, you've come.”

Lionel's gaze landed on Vincent. When he saw how sickly Vincent appeared, his heart lurched.

Is this still the man who mercilessly took over Gezmond Group back then? It's only been a few years

since then, but he now looks like he's at death's door.

“Mr. Saunders, you're rather shameless to invite me out after all the things you did to me.”

Lionel did not take a seat as he walked over to the window and leaned against the windowsill. With a

smile that did not reach his eyes, he said, “Mr. Saunders, if you've come to ask me to let Saunders

Group off, there's no need for you to waste your breath. I've already drafted the acquisition contract,

and I'm only waiting for the day when Saunders Group declares its bankruptcy.”

Vincent harshly coughed a few times before he heaved out, “I'm not here to ask you to let Saunders

Group go. I'm here to ask you to let Vicky go.”

Lionel raised a brow. “Let your daughter go? I don't remember ever doing anything to Victoria. Isn't she

fine right now? I neither asked her to be my mistress nor kidnapped her, so why are you asking me to

let her go?”

“Lionel.” Vincent raised his volume and roared, “You're ruining her life! Will you only stop after forcing

her to the edge of the cliff?”

Lionel dropped the smile and fixed his cold gaze on the older man.

“Why didn't you think about what would happen to me when you set me up to sleep with my

stepmother? But you can't take it now that bad things are happening to your daughter? Vincent,

Vincent, what right do you have to negotiate with me? What right do you have to question me about

this?”

The fury left Vincent instantly, and he slumped into his chair.

A long moment of silence later, he slowly closed his eyes and said in a tranquil voice, “You can acquire

Saunders Group, and you can send me to jail, but please let Vicky go. She never did anything wrong;

she has been a victim all along, so don't ruin her life.”

Lionel sneered. “She's the one who rammed into the wall herself. She wanted to take your place in jail,

so there's no point for you to beg me. Since she's decided you're the most important to her, she will be

my enemy, and I have no reservations when it comes to dealing with my enemies.”

“What if I turn myself in? Lionel, you're the only one who can stop her now. If I go to prison like you

want me to, can you please make sure that she's safe?”
