Even if Zayn expected to amass quite a big amount of soul particles inside his heart, he didn't expect to strike it that rich.

A single battle against 405 Blessed provided him with a total of 405 Soul Orbs, and the ownerless soul particles from the Soul Wisps of 183 Soul Squires and 75 Soul Knights.

That was a tremendous gain, but it was not enough to fill his heart with 20% of the soul particles he required to create the third Soulring. However, that was exactly what just happened.

His strength increased drastically and it was only a matter of time and kills until he could complete his third Soulring. This was quite exciting.

It hadn't even been a year since he awoke the Grimoire of the Ancient and he was already approaching the Soul Lord rank.

Zayn was not rushing things but he wouldn't ignore great opportunities when they unveiled themselves in front of him. That would be foolish and ignorant.

Instead of acting foolish and ignorant, Zany would rather strive hard to make use of everything he could find in his surroundings to make use of. He would rather abuse his powers than die from foolishly thinking that he should lay low and keep a low profile.

Acting weak in front of others was not something he actually liked to do, especially not now that he was a Soul Knight at the age of 14.

After five days of traveling, Zayn retracted Mocalw. The Bear Spirit did a good job as his mount and it deserved a few minutes of rest inside the Grimoire of the Ancient.

Zayn, on the other hand, took a good look at the environment around him. He was not in the plains anymore and had reached the Mediterranean region of the human territory.

A huge mountain range emerged in front of him. The tip and the upper area of the mountain range were covered in a thick layer of snow. There were a few areas that were void of snow, but they looked like something huge and dangerous had burned everything. The remnants of the monster's power had yet to disperse, preventing the snow from covering the marks of the big battle that caused the destruction a long time ago.

Zayn didn't plan to travel to the top of the mountain. That was a little too dangerous, even if he was already a Soul Knight.

His plan was to travel alongside the mountain range, still close enough to the greenery provided by the needle trees around him, but far enough from the dangers of the mountain range.

A few cities and shelters could be found inside the mountain range, but Zayn was not a fan of cold temperatures. The mountain range's temperature was compared to the freezing cold of the northern tundras. Thus, Zayn would rather avoid this kind of unpleasant experience.

The strong winds around the mountain range were already cold enough to frustrate Zayn.

Unfortunately, the kind of monster he was looking for lived in this area, and it abused the strong wind currents to move rapidly through the air.

Zayn's hunting target was both a monster that could fly easily through the air and a monster that slithered over the ground, camouflaging its body easily in most environments.

The monster Zayn was looking for was a Winged Serpent, a monster with two Soulrings, and the special trait to fly extremely fast through the air without uttering any noises.

This type of monster was said to be an exceptional hunter with the most terrifying eyesight. Apparently, not even Eagles with two Soulrings could see as far as the Winged Serpents.

They were perfect to observe the surrounding area from the sky and move rapidly.

It was only obvious, but they were faster and better in every possible aspect than the Sparrow Spirits.

Zayn knew that the sky was his biggest problem. He had yet to fight many aerial monsters, but he knew that the time would come and he wanted to be prepared.

Thus, the Winged Serpents were bound to become his first targets.

After traveling alongside the mountain range for three days, Zayn's Sparrow Spirits were killed all of a sudden.

He had used them to look out for other monsters in the surrounding area and to search for the nest of the Winged Serpents.

However, before they could even report to him, they had been hunted. Their wisps returned to him, the Grimoire of the Ancient to be precise. Zayn saw the wisps as they shot through the air, only to be seen by him.

'So you guys are over there?' He figured, smiling lightly as he accessed the Silvermoon Bracelet, ready to retrieve more than ten Artifacts and to summon all of his Spirits at the same time.

Zayn hoped that he was good bait for a bunch of Winged Serpents. He was not too sure how interested they would be in him, or how many he could lure over, but anything was fine.

The moment he got hold of a single Winged Serpent, things would change drastically for all of them. That was something he could promise!

More than ten minutes passed without anything happening. No Winged Serpent shot out of the sky to lung their sharp fangs into his neck. This was slightly surprising because Zayn didn't expect too much from these monsters.

Their intelligence shouldn't be able to overwhelm their wild instincts yet. At least that was what Zayn thought to be the case.

He felt a strong breeze of air splashing into his face as he was deep in thought, wondering what the Winged Serpents had planned, or if they had lost interest in him when his ears perked up and his stomach tensed up.

His head flicked up as he smelled something that couldn't have belonged to the fresh breeze of air, and to no surprise, it was a group of five Winged Serpents that shot down toward him, riding the air currents of the strong breeze to accelerate even faster.

Like a lightning from the sky, the Winged Serpentine dived down at him, ready to kill their prey with a single attack.

'Yep...that's fucking fast!'
