"Rosie, are you in the right state of mind?" Silas asks with a hint of concern in his voice. | know that what | have

just said is rather surprising, but | have my

reasons.

"I'am and I'm well aware of what I said," I assure him.

"Why on earth would you be willing to do something like that?" he asks, confusion evident in his tone.

"Because I'm bored, Silas, and | want something exciting in my life." My answer seems to shock him. "I'm tired of

being the goody good who doesn't lie and is always seen as the cutie who does no wrong. | want something

exciting in my life and honestly, | don't think anything can match the excitement of fake-dating." "You're

u're willing to act like my girlfriend because you're bored?" Why is it so hard for him to believe that?

"A little bit of acting never hurt nobody, Silas. Plus, | won't just act with anyone. | trust you and you are the one

who got us into this mess, so | guess you should be thanking me. Don't you agree?" | say as | pour the water into

the two mugs. "Do you know what we'll have to do if we fake-date?" he asks me.

Do | need to remind him that I'm an avid reader and | have at least read fifty that have this trope? The

thing that concernsthe most is how those who fake-date tend to fall in love, but | think this won't be the case

with Silas and me. "Enlighten me," | say, resting my chin on my palm as my elbow is placed on the kitchen

island. Silas is standing on the other side.

"We'll need to go out," he starts and I shrug. Don't we already do that? "You may need to attend a few of my

games." | don't mind attending his games. The thing that would worrythe most is the possibility of him being

hurt. 13:02 Tue, Sep 17 QB Chapter 99

"Until now, | don't see a problem."

"We will have to act like a couple in front of people," he points out. "And we will probably need to kiss." My mind

takesback to the event he tookto. I still remember the way his lips felt against mine. Although this kiss

madevery confused, | still liked it and found myself wishing that he would kissagain.

"See! You're blushing just because | mentioned that we will need to kiss each other," he frantically says. He

doesn't need to know that I'm blushing because | can't take our kiss out of my mind. I still don't understand why

I'm the one who is super calm about the whole thing and he's the one who is freaking out. "Silas, I'm not dying to

fake-date you," | say, feeling embarrassed because of his reaction. If anything, | will be doing him a favor. "I'm

simply trying to deal with a problem you got us into. We don't have to do it." | shrug and take my mug back to

the living room and sit down on the loveseat.

He groans and keeps pacing back and forth, probably thinking about the whole thing.

"Your parents will killif they find out, Rosie," he tells me.

"They don't have to know." | shrug. But | don't think they would be entirely mad about the whole thing. After all,

their relationship had the weirdest start.

I don't know how he expectedto react, but I'm sure that my reaction has taken him off guard. Honestly, I'm

quite surprised myself. | thought | would throw a fit if something like that happened to me, but as stupid as | may

seem, | find the whole thing exciting. | have always compared my life to the books | read and whenever | do that,

| find my life very boring. Don't getwrong, I'm very grateful for everything | have, but I just want a little bit

of... adventure. My life is very monotonous and nothing new happens, so maybe this can givethe enthusiasm

I'm looking for.

"I don't want you to make a decision now only to regret it in the morning," he tells me. "I don't want to lose this

friendship between us." He sits on the

| really appreciate how he wants to maintain our friendship and how he'd rather admit to his teammates that he

lied than forceto do something for him. | have always had this idea about Silas that he may be. oying as hell,

but trustworthy, Lately, this idea has changed. He is no longer the annoying guy | used to avoid as much as

possible. He has turned into someone | want to spend my tand watch movies with him. I love it when we go

| don't mind doing it, because | don't like the way you makefeel that I'm throwing myself at you." | sigh and

pick up the book on the coffee table. "I'm sorry that | made you feel this way. I'm just worried about you. | don't

want you to make any decision for my sake and end up hatingfor it later" Sincerity coats his voice, making

my heart ache. How could | ever hate him? Even at our worst moments, | never hated him. | just couldn't stand

him.

He sighs and takes the book away from me. Usually, | would be so mad if somebody did that, but | don't mind

when Silas does it. He seems to be the exception to a lot of rules I have. "If you want out at any moment, tell me

and we will stop, okay? Promisethat," he tells me. "I promise." | smile at him.

"How long should we keep doing this?" he asks me.

"Three months maybe?" | suggest and he nods. "Maybe we should also let our parents think that we're dating

too, because since we're going to be a couple, we should post pictures together on social media and they will

see them."

"Aren't you great with planning?" He chuckles as he playfully ruffles my hair. "Books taughta lot of things." |

laugh as | move my head away.

"I can tell." He nods. "Do you plan on telling anybody that we're fake-dating?

Knox already knows we're not dating, so he will surely know that we're fake- dating."

"I think | may tell Sabrina and Kendall." | don't tell him why | want to tell them. | don't want to tell him that | want

to tell them because | don't want them to keep pesteringwith 'l told you so' since they have this belief in

their head that Silas likes me. "If you can trust her, I'm sure | can too," he replies. "But do you know what's the

most exciting part about this whole thing?" I tilt my head to the side, waiting for him to tell me. "I finally get to

see you wearing my jersey." The way he wiggles his eyebrows makesburst into a fit of laughter. Maybe I'm

finally getting the adventure | have been craving.
