Chapter 1553

He had suspected that it was either Thea or Thomas all along.

However, he had no conclusive evidence.

It never occurred to him that Celestial Sect’s leader would really be his wife, Thea, the woman who had endured so

much suffering in the past.

“By the way, you said that Thea sent a letter of challenge to Tobias?”

“Yeah.”

“News of it has already spread in the ancient martial world. What’s going on? Weren’t you with Thea?” said Maxine.

“There were some unexpected circumstances.”

James briefly explained what had happened while he was recovering.

“Grandpa felt that the Spirit Turtle’s blood in Thea’s body showed great promise. He wanted to force Thea to

experience an Energy Deviation so that she’d fully utilize the Spirit Turtle’s blood. Has anything major happened in

the ancient martial world since then? Do you know if there has been any internal discord within Celestial Sect?”

Before Maxine could explain, Bennett interrupted their conversation and said, “Nothing has happened. The ancient

martial world has been relatively peaceful. However, many martial artists had their True Energy absorbed by Tobias

in Malgudi.”

“What’s the current situation regarding Tobias? Do you have an idea how strong he’s gotten since he’s absorbed

my True Energy as well as that of other martial artists?” asked James concernedly.

Bennett shook his head and said, “I don’t know. Tobias hasn’t made an appearance since the battle in Malgudi.”

“Where’s Lucjan and the First Blood Emperor?” asked James.

Bennett said, “After Celestial Sect’s leader took you away, I rescued some other martial artists. Afterward, we

fought against Lucjan and the First Blood Emperor. Both parties were injured during the battle and eventually

fled…”

He went over what transpired after Thea took James away.

Although Lucjan had not been killed, the Gu Sect suffered heavy losses.

Lucjan had not shown up since the battle in Malgudi.

During this period, things in the Capital had been relatively peaceful, and there was no further activity by the Gu

Sect or Orient Commerce.

Hearing this, James sighed in relief.

However, he still had not found out Thea’s whereabouts.

The only news about her was that she had challenged Tobias to a duel to the death at Mt. Thunder Pass.

Tobias absorbed not only James‘ True Energy but also the True Energy of many other martial artists. Yet, no one

knew what rank he had reached after having done this.

James was unsure of Thea’s condition and whether she had already suffered an Energy Deviation.

After learning about these recent developments, James stood up and proceeded to depart.

A flustered Maxine inquired, “W–Where are you going?”

“I’m going to the Southern Plains. To Mt. Thunder Pass.”

After James stated his destination, he walked out of the house.

“Grand Patriarch, what should we do?” Maxine turned to Bennett.

Bennett’s brow furrowed and left deep creases on his forehead. He thought for a moment and answered,” This is a

situation that involves our family. James is a Caden, and Thea is his wife. I’ll have to go to the Southern Plains to

observe the situation.”

“Grand Patriarch, let me accompany you…”

Bennett waved his hand and stopped Maxine, saying, “The Cadens still need someone to take charge of things here.

You must stay and keep an eye on things.”

“Alright.” Maxine nodded.

Although she wanted to be at the van to keep up with the situation, there were indeed many things that needed her

attention in the Capital.

James left the Cadens‘ mansion and headed to the Southern Plains with Henry.

The forces stationed in the Southern Plains were not united. James planned to quell the disputes and purge them of

dissidents on this trip.

In a cultivation room at Celestial Sect Headquarters in Sol’s central region, Thea sat in a lotus position. She was

dressed in a black dress, and her long black hair had turned greyish–white.

Her long white hair hovered in the air.

A dreadful and oppressive energy radiated from her.

Her black eyes had taken on a red hue. At that moment, her appearance looked malevolent and demonic. She had

an Energy Deviation ever since she witnessed the gruesome scene left behind by Thomas.

There was only one thought in her mind and that was to kill.

She wanted to slaughter all those who had harmed James.

For the past half month, she had been meditating in seclusion.

During that period, she had completely refined and absorbed the power of the Spirit Turtle’s blood.

Now, all traces of fear and hesitation in her were gone. She was no longer concerned about suppressing the

murderous intent in her heart. Thea had been rapidly absorbing the Spirit Turtle’s blood ever since she came to that

decision.

Her strength continued to increase at an astounding pace.
