Chapter 684 - Arcane Vs Orca
"Not bad.." Axel muttered with a smile as they entered the teleportation ground. This place was different then there previous match environment.
The ground this time was that of a city. It was not some ruins, but like a healthy city. The only difference was that it was deserted. It seemed as if people had just ran out of the place on their bare feet leaving everything behind.
"Crackle!"
"This thunderstorm setting is irritating," Terry muttered with a frown as the group began to walk.
"Let's go with the plan," Axel suddenly said and the two behind him nodded. With that, the group immediately separated.
They were going up against a stronger team, it would be bad if they entered in an up front confrontation with them with the whole squad. It wouldn't take a minute for them to get decimated.
So, parting ways was the best thing for them to do in the current situation.
Eren was asked to remain in nearby vicinity of a either Terry or Axel. At least within a kilometer or two so that they could provide cover in time of need or inform him about any enemies nearby.
On the enemy team were, Kain, Nathan and Aria.
Nathan was obviously the long ranger here. He had mastery with a Bow. And, could pair it quite well with his light element.
Kain was there as a mele, and the last person was surprisingly Aria. It was because she was the second best archer in the team. Even though her Rapier was her main weapon, she was proficient in projectiles as well.
And, to their surprise no one else on the team had much proficiency in it.
So, she was selected.
…
"It's a bit difficult to stop them like this.." Axel looked through his scope trying to find any members of the opposing team, but it wasn't working. There were a lot of obstructions around. So, it was tough to spot anyone specially in this kind of weather. ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by novelenglish.net . Fire(.)nᴇt
"Did you see anyone, Terry?" Axel asked in the the microphone.
"No, none yet," A reply soon came.
Axel frowned a bit, and then activated the the Mana scope.
Luckily, people still didn't seem to have figure out Axel's technique of locating them. And, he easily spotted three figure far in the distance.
They were not closely together but were still near each other and were moving around while maintaining that formation.

"I am onto it," Eren replied.
"How much destructive power can you accumulate?" Axel asked him.
"I think I can do quite a lot. The streets are filled with water. I sure can use this to my benefit."
"Water…" Axel muttered as his eyes lit up the next instant. "Do you see the clock tower, Terry?"
"Yes.."
"Good, Eren is there as well. Move there right now. We will end this in one move." Axel let out a smile on his face.
"What are you planning to do?" Eren asked.
"Well, you are doing the actual work," Axel replied with a laugh as he got up and began to move as well.
The group soon gathered together.
"They are still maintaining there movement," Axel said as he once again made sure of it.
"I want you to fire at them at my command, it doesn't matter if we miss." He looked at Terry.
"We will end up giving our location away in this manner." Terry frowned.
"That is what I want. We will draw them in, and then.." He took a paused and then looked at Eren as his lips curled up into a smile, "...drown them.."
Both Eren and Terry stared at them as if he was an idiot.
This had to be the worst joke they had ever heard.
It was hard for a normal people to drown these days as swimming was taught in school, and this guy said he wanted to drown mages.
F*ck! There wasn't even that much water here.
The water on the streets barely came up to their knees at some places.
And, this realization made them curse even more. Was this the city's drainage system's fault or this darned weather setting. After all, who knew how long it had been raining here for?
"Don't give me that look, I will show you how to drown mages," Axel said with a snort and then got to work.
He couldn't help, but grin thinking of the moment when he would put his gun at that guy's forehead. He would then like to see how much confidence he still had left within himself.
…
"These people sure have disappeared." Naze frowned. He couldn't even find their shadows.
"Just stay calm and proceed. They are no match for us." Kain was confident. But, his words made Nathan frown.
"This is not your normal head on combat event. This is a long ranged contest. According to the rules, as long as you get a bullet in your forehead, it's game over." Nathan retorted.
"Well, that is in the condition that they break through my mana barrier." Kain smiled. He was sure that none of Arcane's members were capable of breaking through his mana barrier just like the other Academies he had faced in Trinity event until now. So, he was pretty sure that they would win.
This was how they had won against Trinity Academy as well.
Trinity Academy had strong long ranged capabilities on top of home ground advantage. It was only due to the fact that their attacks couldn't break this guy's mana barrier that they lost. If not, they would have won this thing thousand times over.
So, Nathan couldn't retort to Kain at all.
This guy was strong. So, it was tough to get through him.
But, he for some reason didn't feel good about it.
Arcane was not ordinary, he kind of knew it. And, from various sources, they knew that the master mind was currently leading the Arcane team against them. Hence, he didn't mind being cautious.
He would kill even an ant with all his strength as long as there was a little doubt in his mind
"Careful!" Nathan suddenly shouted.
Kain reacted as well, but he was a step too late.
"Bang!"
An arrow struck his chest, and exploded.
"Boom!"
The explosion sent the guy flying through the air.
"Crash!"
His body skipped onto the water like a stone before crashing into a car on the road side, turning it into a pile of metal junk in an instant.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKain's face twitches in pain as he slowly got back up onto his feet. There was a slight trace of blood sipping down his lips.
"This b*stards…"
They knew that it was difficult to pierce his mana barrier so they had instead opted for an attack which gave strong impact instead of having a piercing power.
The principle here was very simple, an iron shield might stop you from a bullet, but what if you get hit by a truck while still having the shield in front.
There was not much to explain this situation as it was very obvious.
"Don't underestimate them.." Nathan shouted in communication line.
"I get it.." Kain nodded before he began to move towards the directions were the attack came from.
And, this time, he was careful.
"Whoosh!"
"Incoming.." Aria shouted, alerting them.
"Not this time.." Kain snorted, and his destructive aura surged out and the arrows exploded.
But, instead of detonating a grenade like last time, a black smoke-like substance came out of it.
"Cough!"
"Cough!"
"What is this?!!" Kain grumbled as he felt difficulty in breathing.
"Goddamnit!!" He shouted in anger, and let a destructive wave out of his body and send everything flying away.
The water too rose in huge waves as if a bomb had detonated under it.
"This guys are messing with us.." Kain sure wasn't feeling good. To be getting messed by the people who he didn't consider as an opponent, it sure was a nasty feeling.
"Let's go, we will end this in a single move. Provide me with cover," He said with a serious face and began to move at a rapid pace.
Soon, arrows were once again launched.
But, this time, he was prepared. And, immediately let out his destructive energy and formed a dome ahead.
"Something doesn't feel right.." Aria frowned. That guy was firing arrows rapidly even though it wasn't working. He wasn't only wasting his arrow, but also staying at one position and letting the enemy close in on him.
This was not a good move on her side.
"Don't worry, you two guys just stay behind me. I am sure that a single guy can't knock me out alone even in the worst situation. So, if anything happens, I won't be out instantly. And, you can rescue me." Kain's voice sounded through the communication channel.
They were too busy with the things in their eyes that they hadn't even taken a to notice that the water level at their feet was decreasing at a rapid rate with each of their steps ahead.
