475 Unexpected failure
Completely disregarding the stability of the temple he began to search through the place frantically. His workspace had been destroyed but some of his things were still intact.
After spinning around like a top looking for it he finally caught a glimpse of the metal box he was looking for under the workbench.
His panicked eyes brightened as he rushed over but before he could even touch it three shots rang each striking the metal box.
The dented box was pushed underneath the debris from the collapsed wall. He wanted to grab it again but Zi Han wouldn’t give him the opportunity.
As though paying him back for what happened earlier, ZI Han was extremely ruthless bringing in the heat.
The man dodged before scurrying away using the furniture and broken walls in the room as a refuge. Just when he thought he could keep this up a little longer, Yi Chen appeared with an assault rifle and pulled the trigger.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Shit,” he murmured as he got up to run. The rain of bullets followed him. Just when he thought he was going to die here the shots suddenly stopped.
It was because someone had thrown a rock at Yi Chen but a force suddenly stopped it mid air before the rock disintegrated.
When he turned around he found priestess Fan holding a handgun while yelling at him.
.....
“Leave him alone... He is our hope. If you kill him... you kill us all,” she said through gritted teeth.
What hope woman, he is the one willing to sacrifice every one of you to achieve his purpose?
“How else will stor f?niks help us if he is dead? The federation had robbed us once and I won’t let that happen again,” she said and Yi Chen was amazed by her stupidity.
“Who in the hell is stor f?niks?” he asked almost subconsciously.
Priestess Fan’s eyes widened as though asking ‘how the fuck don’t you know’. She tightened the grip on her handgun and said in a condescending tone, “The man you are with. He is our savior. But the Federation brainwashed him and he doesn’t even recognise his own people.”
Yi Chen, “...”
“Have you tried smiling nicely and asking please?” he said fully aware of Zi Han’s personality. Ever since this conflict started Zi Han had these people in his mind more than he did. He refused to use heavy firepower unless everyone had been evacuated. He cared more than their high priest did. The man was consumed by deep resentment and hatred that he was willing to sacrifice anyone for his true purpose.
“What does that even mean argh..,” she grimaced at the end of that sentence because Yi Chen had shot her firearm out of her hand.
Yi Chen picked it up and said, “This is your last chance. Stay out of this,” before rushing back into the temple.
Meanwhile, Zi Han had been engaged in heavy conflict with Yeoh Lang who was extremely troublesome to deal with. He was pretty good at hiding in dark corners which was further infuriating Zi Han. Unable to stand this annoyance any longer, Zi Han directly engaged his mental power.
His eyes turned crimson as he strode in Yeoh Lang’s direction. A misty cloud of red surrounded his body as a rarely seen phoenix took shape above his head.
“You lot are arrogant and stubborn...,” said Yeoh Lang his voice echoing in the large room that was on the verge of crumbling. Each time he spoke debris fell from the ceiling that was holding this place together.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“It is because of his arrogance that I imprisoned your father for so long and it is also for your arrogance that I will defeat you. I will do to you what I did to him... and you will watch the Federation burn because of your own making,” he said but Zi Han who was tired of all this nonsense couldn’t help but put him in his place.
The atmosphere took a drastic turn as a deadly aura broke through the barrier and swept past every object in this place disintegrating it all to dust.
Yeoh Lang suddenly felt like his chest was being seared from within and scorched to a crisp. As his body was thrown across the room he tossed the vile towards Zi Han and as expected it shattered to pieces and vaporised.
Its unfortunate victim inhaled it and it didn’t take long before his mental power retreated his eyes returning to normal. The prestigious flaming bird vanished leaving behind a perplexed Zi Han.
His brows creased slightly as he took a step back. He felt a sudden chill spread all over his body with the only warmth coming from right below his nose.
He raised his trembling hand from the chill and touched his nose only to find a blood stain at the tip of his finger.
Zi Han wanted to find a capsule in his interspatial storage to provide a sense of relief but his limbs were getting frozen stiff and he could barely stand.
The man who had been hauled across the room coughed up a mouthful of blood as he half sat up. When he saw Zi Han’s current state he began to laugh until he choked. All his internal organs felt like they had been raptured but he still laughed. He couldn’t help it. After years of devising this plan, it finally worked. He had been through it all, from one failure to the next, and today he was finally victorious.
He struggled to get up while gloating, “You don’t know... how *cough ...how long I have been waiting for this day. I have been to hell and back.... all for this moment. I used your father as a test subject perfecting this formula and because it is genetically specific...”
He paused as he walked over toward Zi Han who had collapsed on the floor while clutching his chest. He crouched down before him and gazed at his listless eyes.
“... it wouldn’t fail. I win... bitch.”
It was a moment worth celebrating indeed but the problem was that he didn’t count on the variable. The variable that brought his perfect plan to its inevitable end.
