Chapter 1124

Callum lifted his gaze, Spotting a familiar figure approaching, his gentle smile swiftly retreated into an

austere mask of seriousness.

Thalassa felt the air shift and turned to see Lysander striding towards them with a thunderous

expression. His aura was sharp as an icy winter gale swept in, which chilled

to the bone.

Her heart instinctively clenched; her eyes were wide with wariness and panic.

“Are you trying to cripple his hand, too?” Lysander’s frosty voice cut through the distance before he

even arrived.

Thalassa’s eyes flickered. She snapped back to the present and realized she was still holding onto

Callum’s arm. Their close proximity could easily be mistaken for a pair of long-lost lovers reunited.

She quickly withdrew her hand and turned again to face Lysander. He was already upon them, his

domineering presence stifling her breath.

As he closed in, he seized Thalassa’s wrist and yanked her towards him, away from

Callum.

Stumbling from his force, Thalassa brushed against his torso before hastily stepping back. Her face

was painted with alarm, “Lysander, it was an accident-I bumped into him and was just trying to help…”

She hurried to explain, desperate not to let any misunderstanding incriminate

She had already been the cause of Callum’s broken leg; if his hand suffered bec her, she could never

forgive herself.

Lysander’s unfathomable eyes swept over her flustered features. And he turned his gaze to Callum,

“Mr. Gordon is also in this golf course? What a coincidence.”

Callum managed a wry smile in response. He slightly curved his lips and responded, “A reporter

wanted an interview and chose this spot.”

“Mr. Gordon’s business had now involved receiving reporter’s interviews?” Lysander remarked, his

casual tone belied by the underlying pressure.

Callum faced Lysander squarely, “Turns out the reporter knew I was at the hotel in the foothills of the

Crest Summit last time and the incarcerated hotel owner requested to meet me. So the reporter wanted

the scoop on my involvement with the case. The environment is really quaint here so the reporter

arranged the interview here.”

He was clear that his presence wasn’t planned to coincide with Thalassa’s.

“Well, isn’t that a stroke of luck,” Lysander said sharply while ushering Thalassa across the

threshold, leaving Callum at the door.

His imposing figure forced Callum to retreat with his crutches to clear the way.

As Thalassa was pulled past Callum, she glimpsed his faltering steps and worried so much for his

stability. Only when he steadied himself did she breathe a sigh of relief.

Her concern for Callum, however, did not go unnoticed by Lysander, whose aura grew colder still.

Inside the black Rolls-Royce, Lysander practically threw Thalassa onto the seat. His broad chest

descended upon her, enclosing her in a suffocating embrace; the air pressure in the car was

plummeting and making it hard to breathe.

Panic-stricken, Thalassa looked up at Lysander as her mind was racing with memories of his past

rages. Her whole heart clenched in fear. She was not as resilient as before, no longer able to withstand

his wrath without consequence.

There was the matter of her unborn child, the pregnancy just barely stable. If she bore the brunt of

Lysander’s fury, she feared the worst.

“Lysander, please, calm down!” she pleaded.

“And why couldn’t you have stayed calm earlier?” His gaze was abyssal, his presence terrifyingly

intense.

“I’ve explained it to you. I only helped him because I accidentally bumped into him. It was truly an

accident. I would have helped anyone in that situation,” Thalassa pushed his searing chest.

Her hands were captured, held high above her head and pinned against the seat, leaving her

vulnerable before him.
