Chapter 632
Thalassa followed Hertha’s gaze.)
The man was tall and muscular, looking like he had been training for years and was in good shape.
His hair was cut close to the scalp, and his skin was bronzed, clearly a sun-kissed tan.
But his tan had a rugged, masculine appeal.
He was talking to an antique dealer.
Hertha led Thalassa towards Payne, but he exuded an aura of stern authority and a sense of righteousness that made it hard for anyone to approach him lightly.
Hertha gave Thalassa’s arm a light shake, signaling her to initiate a conversation with Payne.
Thalassa took a deep breath, steeling herself to approach and greet him.
Captain Payne asked the antique dealer, “Does this antique have the proper paperwork? Recently, a tomb was robbed. And a circular pendant was stolen. The picture I saw is quite similar to this one.”

Captain Payne’s tone was as casual as ever, but his aura was intimidating enough to make one’s heart pound.
Particularly, his words sent a shock of surprise across the antique dealer’s face.
However, the dealer quickly composed himself and assured, “Captain Payne, this antique has all the necessary paperwork. See for yourself. It’s definitely not stolen. If you’re interested in buying, I hope you will keep me in your good graces.”
Captain Payne took the paperwork into his own hands, scrutinized it, then put it down, saying, “I’m not interested. Good luck selling it.”
With that, Payne turned around, nearly bumping into Thalassa who was approaching.
Thalassa stepped back to avoid physical contact, meeting Payne’s questioning gaze with a smile.
“Good day, Captain Payne. I saw you here and decided to come over,” Thalassa greeted, giving a friendly nod.
Hertha, standing beside her, nodded in agreement.
Payne glanced at them both, his expression stern. “What can I do for you?”
“Captain Payne, I have a case and I need your help to investigate. I have a clear understanding of the case but I need solid evidence,” Thalassa stated, cutting straight to the point.
There was no need for pretenses with a righteous and powerful officer like Payne.
“Go ahead,” Payne responded. He was accustomed to people seeking his help for justice.
Just as Thalassa was about to speak, she noticed the crowd around them, including the curious gaze of the antique dealer.
“Captain Payne, let’s move somewhere quieter, like over there,” she suggested, pointing to a small table in a quieter corner.

Payne, understanding her need for discretion, agreed and led the way.
Thalassa, her hand gripping Hertha’s, felt more confident with her friend by her side and followed Payne.
Hertha was happy to accompany her, but then she caught sight of a familiar figure.
Alaric!
He was at the buffet with a wicked and flirtatious grin on his face. A woman, dressed provocatively and oozing allure, stood across from him holding a wine glass. They clinked their glasses together and took a sip.
The woman’s gaze towards Alaric was filled with flirtation and seduction.
At this sight, Hertha was no longer calm.
Alaric
was flirting with another woman!
She murmured to Thalassa, “Thalassa, Alaric is over there. I’ll go deal with him. I believe in you, good luck!”
Before Thalassa could respond, Hertha had already let go of her hand and was heading towards Alaric.
