The group remained seated for hours as they discussed. It was mostly Leon and Curtis doing the talking, but every once in a while, one of the others would pitch in to contribute.
Before long, Leon knew a decent amount of basic information concerning Divinity's Bout that Michael had not bothered to inform him when he had asked before he whisked him off to this far-off land.
One more thing that he had learned from Curtis was the location of Fort Bender and how it differed from the location of Divinity's Bout. Indeed, it was something divine.
The location where Divinity's Bout would be held was a floating island. Yes, a floating island!
When the twenty-four-hour countdown elapsed and Divinity's Bout officially began, a floating island would magically appear in the sky to whisk away all participants who had written their names or done something else that could serve as their identifications on the papers.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe floating island would remain in the sky for another day to give anyone the opportunity to change their minds before Divinity's Bout officially began. After that, the island would vanish, leaving in place an ethereal screen that resembled that of everyone's status screens. There, anyone could watch what happened on the island. The viewers could simply think of a participant to watch what that one was going through.
As for the participants, they would be experiencing something much different. The floating island was not just a small piece of land, but an immensely massive thing! It was as large as a continent, which meant that there was a lot of space for the participants to act!
Of course, as there would be many people of varying strength, the island would be separated into various 'zones' which ranged from Zone E to Zone A depending on the ranks of those involved.
As a C rank individual by the ranking given to him by the tester, Leon would be sent to Zone C. The same went for Curtis and his group, so there was a very good chance that they would cross paths.
Another thing that Leon was told was the duration of Divinity's Bout. The completion lasted long enough for many, if not all of the competitors to cross paths with each other and battle, showing off their prowess to the watching Gods.
The most important thing that Leon kept in mind, was that the floating island would be full of treasures! Rare herbs that could boost a person's strength and relics of great power. All sorts of powerful treasures could be found on the floating island, so even those who did not get selected by the Gods would be able to gain something out of the bout as long as they were smart about it.
However, the Gods were not benevolent fools. Curtis made sure to hammer this point home so Leon would understand. The floating island was not a free farm where anyone could simply go ahead to pick up precious relics and herbs. Everyone had to fight for their gains, and this meant that there would be deaths. Many, many deaths.
Leon took a deep breath, held it for a few seconds, and let it out, to digest these pieces of information. Indeed, he had not expected anything to be easy. After all, this was a competition that was held to entertain bored Gods. He was not surprised. After all, he had heard about how all those big CEOs from his previous lives made the working places of their employees into competition houses in order to squeeze out more work every week, and yet, they saw all that as nothing but entertainment. Of course, it was nothing to mighty Gods like Michael.
"It is a lot to take in, huh?" Curtis chuckled at Leon's actions.
"I'm not surprised, really." Leon shrugged and sighed again.
"So, we need to prepare. We have until tomorrow night to gather essential supplies and other things that can help us while we are there." Curtis said, standing up from his seat.
"We can come along, then." Leon and Nedra also stood up, following Curtis and the others out of the Green Gate. They spent the rest of the night purchasing various things from shops, ranging from health potions to mana recovery potions and stamina recovery potions. No shop was closed, as it would be very stupid to close for the night at such a moment.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEveryone was very excited. Leon could basically feel the buzz against his skin. They were all looking forward to the coming fights, whether they were competitors or just those who would act as the audience throughout the fight.
"Everyone seems excited." Leon voiced his thoughts.
"Of course, they are. Blood and gore aside, everyone wants to see an epic battle. And they are going to see lots of those in a day's time." Curtis chuckled.
"Hmm." Leon hummed as the put the thought aside and they continued to browse for essential wares and what not. They bought all the potions they needed, along with rations and some other things to make life easier during the competition.
"Oh, right. I forgot to tell you one more thing." Curtis suddenly said as they were making their way back to Green Gate.
"Hmm?" Leon raised a brow and hummed.
"When we get teleported to the island, everyone will be spread out randomly. There is a way around that though." He said and fished through his pocket, pulling out a small token. "Everyone in my group has this token. It will allow us to spawn in the same place. Sadly, I do not have more, or else I would have given it to you and Nedra." Curtis' smile drooped a bit at that.
"Oh, I see..." Leon had a thoughtful look and turned to look at Nedra. When he thought about it a bit more, he realized that there was no need to fear the two of them being separated. He only needed to cancel her summon, and then when they appeared on the island, he could summon her again. It was very simple.
Just as he turned his head back to face his front, something caught his eyes.
"I'll meet up with you guys later. Let me get something." A smile spread over his face as he split off from the group, approaching a small stall in a corner.
