After Milana was taken away, Nicole rested absentmindedly for a few more minutes before continuing with the

filming.

For the whole day, she had to reshoot a crying scene over and over again, but for some inexplicable reason, her

performance was unsatisfactory, and she couldn't seem to meet the director's expectations.

“Okay, that's enough. Let's wrap it up for today. Both of you can go back and figure out what's wrong. We'll try

again tomorrow,” said the director with disappointment while looking at the male and female lead.

Nicole couldn't be bothered to think about what went wrong with her acting. All she wanted to do was to leave the

set as soon as possible.

Her acting career was indeed important, but it was not as important as her mission of getting married to Cayden.

The moment her trailer left the set, she gave Dylan a call right away.

Meanwhile, Dylan was having a cup of coffee and playing chess with his father at home.

Talia, who seldom got to see the father-and-son duo interacting harmoniously, busied herself with serving the two

sliced fruits and nuts.

When Dylan's phone rang, he glanced at it to see Nicole's name on the screen. He immediately answered the call,

but his eyes were still glued to the chessboard. “What's the matter?”

Nicole answered, “Where are you? Are you free to meet up?”

Dylan said, “I'm afraid I can't today, but I'm free tomorrow. I'm currently playing chess with my father, and the

game is in full swing. How can I walk away?”

As he spoke, he moved another white chess piece on the board.

Subsequently, Toby lifted his chess piece with a smile but did not place it anywhere on the board. He did not know

why Dylan started caring about his family to the extent of coming home for a game of chess with him, but as

Dylan's father, he was pleased to see the change in his son.

Nicole then said, “FIne. We don't need to meet up. I can talk to you over the phone. Hey, listen... Avery's father has

passed away. Do you know about that?”

Dylan instantly straightened up his back and frowned. “What? Avery's father has passed away? Who said so?”

She replied, “So you actually have no idea. I heard Milana talk about it. The police came over to the filming set to

take her away, so I looked into it and found out that Milana is responsible for the death of Avery's father. He's been

dead for two days.”

Without waiting for her to finish speaking, Dylan ended the call.

Both Toby, who was preparing to place his chess piece on the board, and Talia, who was peeling an apple, heard

what their son said.

“How did Avery's father pass away?” Talia was holding a fruit knife and an apple in her hands, and she nicked her

finger when she wasn't paying attention.

Toby stood up and said, “Be careful.”

A housekeeper quickly approached them with a first aid kit and helped to dress Talia's wound.

Dylan had already put on his jacket and prepared to leave. With a solemn expression, he said, “I'm not sure what

has happened. Let me go to look for her and ask about it.”

He knew that he could not reach Avery on the phone, but he still tried anyway.

Before he got into his car, Talia followed him out with her jacket on and a bag in her hand. “I'll go with you.”

Dylan stopped her. “Please don't. Once I know what's going on, I will come over to pick the both of you up.” He was

worried that his mother might witness Avery's cold attitude toward him.

No mother would like to see her son being treated coldly by her daughter-in-law.

That would only cause the rocky patch between the two women to further worsen.

Throughout the whole night, none of Dylan's calls were able to get through to Avery. He made repeated attempts

until his phone was out of battery.

Previously, he had found out about the hospital where Leonardo stayed. Upon his arrival at the hospital, however,

the hospital staff told him that the deceased's daughter had already left the hospital.

Dylan brought his marriage certificate with him, so he quickly showed it to the staff and informed them that he was

the legal husband of Avery and would like to know more information about Leonardo's sudden death.

One of the nurses watched the entertainment news and recognized him to be Avery's husband.

Therefore, she told him everything that she knew.

The look in Dylan's gaze turned solemn. He knew that Milana was a vile woman, but he did not expect the latter to

be that despicable.

Many speculations and rumors regarding the incident that happened in Leonardo's ward were spread around the

hospital. Everyone in the entire hospital knew about it.

After obtaining the information he needed, Dylan left the hospital lobby.

He didn't return home or go to the pub. Instead, he climbed into his car and drove to a parking space near the

entrance of the hospital.

There was already another car in the parking space. It was a Volkswagen Golf worth around one hundred thousand.

Dylan walked out of his car before taking out a wad of cash from his wallet and giving it to the other person in the

car. “Can you move to another parking space? I would like to park here.”

Shocked, the driver looked at the money then at Dylan.

Really? Isn't this just a parking space? Or is there gold on it?

In the end, he took the money and parked somewhere else.

Dylan sat in his car and left the engine running. He had switched on the heater to make the interior of the car

warmer. After lighting up a cigarette, he took a few puffs while looking in the direction of the hospital entrance.

He could've gone back home and come back the next morning.

Nevertheless, his mind was in an inexplicable mess. Thus, he wanted to find a spot with a broad view so that he

could see Avery first thing in the morning.

Just now, he was informed by the hospital staff that Leonardo would be cremated the next day.

That was an extremely long night for Dylan. To Avery, however, the night was short.

She jolted awake after having a bad dream.

In her dreams, she was once again in her teenage years and was bullied by Milana and Henrietta.

The allowance that she had kept in her bag was stolen by Milana.

Subsequently, the money that she kept inside her pocket was also snatched away by Henrietta.

That was when the scenes in her dream transitioned into something else.

She then saw Henrietta and Milana crying and begging for mercy in the courtroom. Surprisingly, she

magnanimously agreed to withdraw the lawsuit.

In reality, however, Avery had sworn not to show any mercy toward the mother-and-daughter duo after listening to

Weston's advice.

When she woke up, she went to the kitchen to make breakfast while mumbling to herself, “It's all right. Dreams are

usually the opposite of reality. It's going to be okay.”

Rory had woken up and heard her mother's mumbling. The little girl then walked toward Avery while rubbing her

eyes sleepily and asked, “Mommy, what are you talking about?”

Avery bent over and was about to answer her daughter's question when she saw Cayden standing at the kitchen

door.

Clad in a suit and wearing a necktie, he approached her, and she could smell the aftershave he was wearing. Then,

he put a unique card on the kitchen counter and said, “Keep this. It's my supplementary card.”

Dumbfounded, Avery stared at the black card with a gold streak embossed on it.

So, are dreams really the opposite of reality?

Right after her stepmother snatched away all her pocket money in her dreams, she was given a bank card in

reality.

She knew that there was no limit to Cayden's card.

“The weather is getting chilly. If you have time, bring the children to buy some clothes. I don't have time to do it, so

I'll leave it to you.” He was worried that she might reject his card, so he used the children as an excuse to prevent

her refusal.

Indeed, Avery was unable to decline the card because of his words. She needed to buy clothes for her children, but

considering her current predicament, it was true that she did not have enough money.
