Aurelia whispered, "I wanted to tell the truth, but William wouldn't have it. He can't stand the thought of being torn from Arnold.
With Leopold's temper, once he finds out the identity of William, he'd never let him stay with Arnold." Jolin said, "You've got to handle this right, no matter what. You and Leopold have been on and off so many times, try not to stir up another storm." Aurelia nodded slightly, "I know, Mom. Don't worry about me." The next day, Avery returned from shooting a reality TV show and went over to Arnold's place, keeping him company with a few drinks.
Arnold was in a real slump, knocking back one drink after another. Only the sharp bite of alcohol could numb the ache in his heart for a while.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe had lost Aurelia, the only woman he had ever truly loved.
"I filed for divorce with Lisa this morning. | was such a fool for not doing it sooner," he lamented.
Aurelia had fallen for him first, yet he had let her slip through his fingers, botching a winning hand.
Avery patted him on the shoulder, comforting, "My sister married Leopold again for Kane's sake. She said the only way to keep Kane safe was to bring him back to the Stirling family. Leopold is fickle and quick to turn cold. Who knows how long he'll stay sweet on Aurelia this time." Arnold tightened his grip around his glass, "If Leopold ever treats her wrong, I'll whisk her away in a heartbeat." He would never give up on Aurelia, even if she remarried Leopold. He'd always be there, guarding her.
Avery said, "You and Aurelia can't be completely apart, you've got William together." Arnold believed that he still had a place in Aurelia. Otherwise, she wouldn't have left William with him.
Leopold had already taken Aurelia from him and he wouldn't let him take William too.
Setting his glass down, Arnold resolved not to get drunk. He had to pick up his son from school later.
At the office, Aurelia got a call from Lisa, learning that she had filed for divorce from Arnold.

"Lisa, are you alright?" Lisa's eyes were red and swollen, a clear indication that she had recently been crying. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. | always knew this day would come. | was prepared." "As an old saying goes, 'Where there's a will, there's a way". | believe that one day, Arnold will turn back to you," Aurelia comforted.
Lisa lowered her gaze, her thick lashes casting shadows of sorrow on her pale cheeks.
"It was all my mistake from the start. | shouldn't have deceived him into marrying me. | should have started as friends, building our relationship slowly, so he could see who | really am. Now all he feels foris disgust, seeingas a liar, a hateful woman." Aurelia sighed in her mind.
She had been set on divorcing Leopold. If Lisa hadn't cout of nowhere, she'd probably be divorced and married to Arnold by now. The three would've returned to their carefree life at Serenity Media Solutions in Goldstone.
Fate had its own plans. She and Arnold were meant to cross paths yet remain apart, and Lisa was the instrument that split them.
During her silence, Lisa's voice drifted over, "You remarried Leopold, didn't you?" "Yes," she nodded. "I thought that marrying Leopold again would make Arnold reconsider divorcing you, but..." A sad smile crept onto Lisa's face, "I can tell he's miserable. He can't stand the sight of me. Your remarrying Leopold only makes him despise and hatemore. Because it'swho tore you two apart."
