Ramona cast her gaze downward, taking a sip of her fruit juice. She was a perceptive child, and she could sense an undertone in Aurelia's words.
"Could it be that Dad had sent a secret signal to Leopold, alerting him to danger?" "l understand," she murmured in response.
Aurelia handed her a business card with her phone number, "If you need anything, just call me. Don't be afraid. Here in Elysium, we're your family." Aurelia's kindness and easygoing nature wrapped a blanket of warmth around Ramona's heart. "Thank you." Ramona said.
After the meal, Aurelia left.
Skyler and the kids headed back to their respective apartments.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtPinnacle Ivy League School, with its elite stature, was equipped with all the trappings of luxury. Whether they were boarders or day students, everyone was provided with an apartment for midday rests.
William and Kane naturally shared an apartment.
William locked the door and drew the curtains before peeling off his prosthetic face, a mask so lifelike it fooled everyone.
"lI don't want to be William today. | want to be Kane. Will you be William for me?" "Sure." Kane nodded, gingerly fitting the mask onto his own face, "This mask is quite comfy, thin. Feels like wearing nothing at all." William stretched into a grin, almost forgetting the sensation of walking mask-less, and it felt odd to be barefaced.
"Remember to act the part. Don't give us away," Kane warned.
William quickly straightened his smile, and Kane was never one to grin broadly.
Then ca knock at the door.
It was little Einstein, Rocky.
"William, | heard you're designing a UFO. Is it true?" "Yes." Kane nodded, playing the role of William for the day.
Rocky's eyes sparkled, "Have you drawn the blueprints yet? Can | see them?" "lI haven't sketched them out yet. It's a top-secret club business. You'll see it when it's done," Kane said with an air of importance.
Rocky blinked, skeptical, "You sure it's going to fly? Hope it's not just hot air." William pouted, "William would never boast. When he grows up, he's going to be the chief designer of the Galactic Fleet. He'll build the coolest starships, zoom off to the solar system, and explore the galaxy." Rocky stuck out his tongue playfully, "Can your Galactic Fleet travel through wormholes?" William chuckled, "First, we've got to find a wormhole. That mission's yours." Rocky beamed, thumping his chest, "I'll be the first human to find one, you'll see." The afternoon's first lesson was Skyler's biology class.
He brought sof the toxic mushrooms cultivated in the SkyWill Lab.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIn this session, he intended to teach the students how to distinguish poisonous mushrooms from safe ones.
He presented a white mushroom, "Does anyone recognize this one?" William knew it. As Skyler's protégé, he was versed in hypnotism, toxins, and the crafting and countering of poisons.
But today, he was Kane and couldn't raise his hand.
Skyler glanced at Kane beside him, seemingly expecting a show of hands, but Kane, unfamiliar with toxic fungi, stayed silent.
William was embarrassed. Despite their nearly identical appearances, he and Kane had their own strengths, and impersonating each other was impossible.
"Mr. Heninger, we don't know this one. What kind of mushroom is it?" the other students chimed in, eager to learn.
"Is it poisonous?" "Can we eat it?" Seeing "William" not raising a hand, Skyler spoke up, "This is the Destroying Angel, also known as Amanita virosa. It's often mistaken for the common button mushroom but is highly toxic. Remember: it wears a hat, has a skirt, and boots. Any mushroom dressed like that is a Destroying Angel." The students crowded in, scrutinizing the mushroom's features, committing them to memory.
"Eat one of these, and you'll see fairies," chuckled Rocky.
Skyler corrected sternly, "If a child eats one, they won't see fairies, but they'll meet the God. So never pick mushrooms wildly."
