"Because I'm not in the mood today," he grumbled, his handsbrows knitting together in frustration, the corners of his charming mouth turned downward, and an unmistakable scowl etched across his face. It was a clear sign of an emotional storm brewing within him, with warning lights flashing red and black.

She probably thinks you're my toy boy or something." Leopold choked back a retort and got pissed at the mention of that little troublemaker. If Beverley kept this up, he might just cut her allowance and see how she liked that! "And here | was, thinking you and Elvis were thick as thieves," he shot back.
Aurelia rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, con. You and Arnold are married men, and Mr. Cooper is the hottest bachelor in high society. Every woman tries to cozy up to the Cooper family, especially Melissa, who's way too dedicated." His frown deepened. "So, it's because of Elvis that you won't consider remarrying me?" She pursed her lips, exasperated. "You're way off base. If | were into Elvis, I'd have dated him already. Why would | still be single?" Leopold fell silent. She did indeed have a point. Her heart belonged to Arnold, and she wouldn't entertain the thought of a relationship with Elvis unless that were off the table.
"Stay single forever if you don't want to get back together with me. You can only be my wife. If you ever think of marrying someone else, you might as well wishdead." His words were a stark warning and declaration that she had no future with anyone else unless he was out of the picture.
Aurelia was speechless. It was an argument with no end, a surefire way to start a fight every time.

After as long as an eternity, he emerged with a content smile as he carried her to the bed.
Aurelia pulled the blanket up to hide her bare skin. "What do you think about Viola, the new designer at Ethereal Gems?" He tenderly touched her chin. "You're the best designer out there. No one can hold a candle to you." She wasn't so arrogant. "That's not necessarily true. There's always someone better and smarter. Viola might bring smuch- needed traditional craftsmanship to the table." Leopold's voice was heavy with skepticism. "I've never heard of her in the jewelry world. She must be a newcomer. No idea where Elvis dug her up from." Aurelia smiled faintly. "Wasn't | a newcomer you discovered? If not for your discerning eye, | might still be a nameless assistant designer." He pulled her close into his embrace, saying, "Knowing that I'm your benefactor, you should treatbetter instead of always makingmad. What if | died from the stress one day? Would you regret it?" She sighed softly. "You're not that easy to get rid of. | pray every day that you live to be a hundred. On the other hand, I'm dead if antibiotics run out someday." "Don't say that." Leopold pressed his finger against her lips, the thought of losing her being his greatest fear. He hadn't divorced Megan yet because he was waiting for a breakthrough in antibiotics. Although the research team had found promising leads, cultivating a solution would take time. He had to be patient.
"There are plenty of antibiotics. The research institute will cup with something new soon enough." Aurelia glanced at him, wondering if he was only trying to comfort her. She felt helpless, resigned to fate.
"I'm not afraid of dying, but my kids are still too young. | can't abandon them." Leopold frowned. "Would you abandon me?" She answered silently in her heart, "How could I?" Despite all the resentment and anger, she still loved him deep down.
