Chapter 119 Chapter 119 Walking back to his desk, Kris picked up his phone, which he'd nearly forgotten in his earlier haste to see Thalassa.

"Who are you calling?" Alden asked as Kris began tapping tapidly on it.

+25 BONUS Kris didn't respond, dialing a number and bringing the phone to his ear. He drummed his fingers impatiently on the desk as he waited for Smoke to answer.

When the man finally picked up, Kris hissed, "I told you I wanted the report on Clark Morgan immediately, but it's been five days already." Smoke cleared his throat on the other end. "Forgive me, Mt Miller, but my contacts overseas had a hard tsearching for information on Morgan." Kris's nostrils flated. "So you don't have anything yet?" "No," Smoke clarified. "I do have something. I'm just trying to explain that-" "What are you waiting for, then? Forto roll out the red carpet before you cand givethe information?" "No, sir. I'm just on my way to your office now. I'll be there in a few minutes." "Make it quick," Kris said, then hung up.

Tossing his phone onto the desk, he began pacing the length of the office. The room was silent, the air thick with tension as Kris kept pacing, glancing at his watch every few seconds.

Finally, there was a knock on the door, and Millie went to open it. Smoke walked in, holding a file, his eyes scanning the serious faces in the room.

"What did you find, Smoke?" Kris questioned, waving him over to start speaking.

Smoke glanced at the visitor's chair as if considering sitting down, but noticing that everyone else was standing, he decided against it and began his report.

"I discovered that Clark Morgan has been married twice over the past three years while he was in Ireland." Seconds ticked by until Kris broke the silence, his voice incredulous. "Is that it? That's all you've discovered?" Though he was surprised to learn Clark had been married twice, it wasn't incriminating, so it felt useless to him. "No, that's not all," Smoke quickly added. "My contacts also found sinformation about another woman he was involved with before these marriages. At first, it all seems innocent enough, but then you start to notice a pattern." "What pattern?" Alden asked, leaning forward.

"He met each of these women in support groups. All of them were slightly older than him, all had been admitted to psychiatric hospitals at spoint in their lives and were undergoing therapy, all of them seemed to have no family ties, all of them were millionaires, and all of them are dead as we speak." Alden's eyes widened. "Dead? How did they die?" "Suicide," Smoke replied. "They all committed suicide, and as their spouse, Clark Morgan inherited everything." "But he wasn't in a relationship with the other woman," Alden pointed out.

"Yes," Smoke nodded. "But while they were living together, she had a severe episode of psychosis. Before being 1/3 Chapter 119 +25 BONUS readmitted to the psychiatric hospital, she gave Clark Morgan power of attorney over her assets. She committed suicide in the hospital, and it turned out she had already made a will leaving everything to him." "So he wasn't satisfied with the millions he got from those women," Alden noted grimly.

"That's why he's now targeting a billionaire," Millie concluded.

"I knew it. I fucking knew he couldn't be trusted," Kris muttered, unsure whether to laugh at being proven right or panic at the thought of such a person being close to Thalassa.

He looked at Alden. "Do you still think that bastard wasn't behind the sabotage against Thalassa?" Alden didn't respond, only shaking his head grimly.

"You should know that he hasn't committed any crthat could get him arrested, at least not yet," Smoke mused hesitantly.

"Bullshit!" Kris sneered. “Three women connected to him, and they all committed suicide. Are you going to tellthat's all random and coincidental?" He didn't wait for an answer, having already drawn his own conclusions. "Smoke, I want your contacts to keep digging into this. They need to search for even the smallest inconsistency." "That's going to cost," Smoke warned.

"Money isn't an issue. Just do as I've asked," Kris scoffed. In the meantime, I want you to have someone discreetly monitor Morgan's every move. Also, find a model named Carmen who used to work for Thalassa. Is that clear?" "Yes, Mr. Miller. On it," Smoke confirmed. "Everything I've just reported is in this file." Kris reached out, and Smoke handed him the file before leaving the room.

"So, what are you going to do?" Alden asked calmly as he wrapped his arm around Millie who looked shaken by everything she'd heard.

Kris grittwd his teeth. "I have to get Thalassa away from that bastard." Carmen stared at the private jet in front of her, her heart heavy with the decision she was about to make.

Just then, her phone rang. Glancing at the screen, she sighed. It was a private number that couldn't be traced, but she knew who it was.

"Hello." "Are you already at the airport?" the man on the other end asked.

"Yes. But I feel really guilty. Thalassa didn't deserve what I did to her." "Don't be stupid, you didn't do it for free," the man scoffed "But..." "Just shut up. You're going to be a good girl and disappear for a few years if you have to. The million dollars I gave you isn't a small deal." "Years?" Carmen's eyes widened. "But...but my mother is in Baltimore. I can't just leave her for that long." "It's exactly because of your mother that you're going to disappear," the man hissed. "You don't want anything 2/3 +25 BONUS Chapter 119 happening to her, do you?" Carmen shivered. "Of course not."

"Good girl. You know what? I'm going to increase that one million to two e million dollars. Andy'll make suren your mother is taken care of. Sounds good? Just keep this in mind: do not contact her in any way for at least a year. Is that clear?" A tear streamed down Carmen's face as she nodded. "Yes." "Good girl." Hanging up the phone on his end, a shirtless Clark couldn't help but let a satisfied smile stretch across his lips.

So far, everything was going exactly as planned.

He laughed. He'd initially thought it would be difficult, but it wasn't. He had been the one behind the attack on Thalassa outside the restaurant, but because of her hatred for Linda Miller, he hadn't even needed to do anything to make her believe it was Linda who sent the goon, while he managed to look like skind of hero. He glanced at the scar on his side from the cut he'd suffered during the attack. He'd purposely told the goon to cut him with the knife. The scar was a small price to pay, but it had made Thalassa trust him even more.

And now, she hated Kris even more because of him, just as he had planned. There was no way she would forgive Kris, and with Carmen in hiding, there would be no one to prove Kris's innocence.

Clark smirked. "She chose you back then, Miller. But not this time." H.Dally 1. Dally Author

Damn. 5 chapters at once. I'm so proud of myself but also exhausted, lol. Were you able to e to correctly guess who was behind the sabotage initially when Thalassa and Luisa saw the destroyed dresses, and also who was behind the attack outside the restaura 126
