Chapter 23 Kris froze. That voice... It sounded familiar. Too familiar. It sounded like the voice of the woman he'd tried his hardest to get out of his heart and mind for the past three years without any success.

Suddenly, he was anxious to put a face to the voice, to see the face of the masked woman.

"Wow, what an entrance!" His sister, Susan, gushed but instantly shut up when his mother gave her a hard glare.

"Meet again?" "What does she mean by that?" the guests whispered among themselves.

"Oh, my apologies," the masked woman on the stage said. "You must be confused by what I said. All I meant was that you don't know who I am yet, but I already know most of you." This got the guests even more curious. Who was this woman who was the owner of TT Fashion? What was her name? "Please, enjoy yourselves at this party," the woman on stage said before the lights finally turned back on. Kris noted that she hadn't even mentioned her name.

As soon as she stepped down from the stage, the guests surrounded her, everyone wanting to introduce themselves to her.

"She's so radiant. I'm gonna make her my girlfriend," Tyler declared.

Susan scoffed. "She looks at least eight years older than you, bro." Tyler rolled his eyes. "So what? Age is just a number. I'm going to introduce myself to her and take her number." "You're not going anywhere! She needs to know that we're not desperate like the others,” Linda hissed under her breath, feeling irritated.

Before, she always used to be the center of attention at events even when she was just a guest, but today, nobody even paid her any attention. They were all focused on this mysterious woman who claimed to be the owner of TT Fashion.

It was probably because of the mask she was wearing. That was why a lot of people didn't recognize her, she thought to pacify herself.

After the masked woman had greeted almost everyone, she slowly made her way towards the only guests who hadn't approached her yet.

Kris's eyes followed her every movement, his suspicions becoming even more intense as she stopped in front of them.

"The prestigious Miller family." Behind her mask, Thalassa stared at the people in front of her, each of whom had contributed to her suffering. Though they were all wearing masks too, she didn't need to see their faces to know who each one was.

+25 BONUS Chapter 23 Linda put on a smile behind her mask. "How did you know it was us? We're all wearing masks." The masked woman chuckled softly, the sound ever so familiar to Kris. "I was watching the entrance of every guest on video. I like to keep an eye on the people I'll be having around me." She stretched out her hand. "You must be Linda Miller, The greatest fashion designer of Baltimore until recently." Linda's nostrils flared as she shook the woman's hand. “Until recently? I assure you that I'm very much still the greatest." Thalassa let out another soft chuckle, enjoying the carefully controlled agitation in Linda's voice. "I bet you are." The mockery in her voice was not lost on Kris, but before he could say anything, his family members stepped forward to introduce themselves.

First were his aunt and uncle, then Susan and Tyler.

"It's such a pleasure," Tyler said as they shook hands, removing his mask so that the woman could see how handshe was. "In case you need someone to show you around Baltimore, I'm at your service." Tyler!" Linda hissed, her face burning with embarrassment that her son was acting so pathetically in front of her rival.

"I'll keep that in mind," the masked woman chuckled again before her eyes slowly moved and met Kris's own.

Kris felt himself suck in a breath as he stared into rich brown eyes that looked so familiar. And for several seconds, he felt speechless.

"What about you?" the masked woman said, pulling him out of his thoughts. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself to me?" "Why should I when you haven't even told us what your nis?" Kris retorted.

They continued staring at each other. Even a blind man could see the tension thrumming through the air, and Karen wasn't blind.

She gritted her teeth, not liking their eye contact one bit. She quickly wrapped her arms around Kris's waist. "Honey, there's no need to be rude." She kissed him on the cheek, but to her surprise, he turned his head and kissed her lips for a few seconds.

Once he broke the kiss, Kris turned back towards the masked woman, scanning her. If she was truly who he thought she was, then there should be a reaction. However, he couldn't even see the expression on her face due to the mask she was wearing.

Feeling elated, Karen turned to the masked woman with a smile as she stretched out her hand, "Sorry for my husband's rudeness, but he's Kris Miller, the CEO of Miller Textiles, and I'm his wife, Karen Miller." "Nice to meet you, Karen," the masked woman said as she shook Karen's hand. "You can callT.” Her voice was filled with nothing but warmth, which irritated Kris for sreason.

Chapter 23 +25 BONUS "Well, T." Linda Miller stepped forward to take control of the conversation again. "There's something I would like to discuss with you. It's about both of our fashion businesses." Is that so?" Thalassa smirked, haven expected it. "You know the location of my company branch in Baltimore, right? You can call my secretary and set up an appointment." "An appointment?" Linda felt insulted. "I've never had to book an appointment." Thalassa twisted her mouth. "Well, I'm sorry, but even if the president wants to see me, he would have to book an appointment, not to mention ordinary people.

With that, she turned and sashayed away, leaving Linda fuming.

"Did she just callan ordinary person? How dare she?!" she turned her accusing eyes towards her son. Kris, you said you were going to helpout with her, but you didn't even say anything." Kris nodded guiltily. He had been too caught up in the familiarity of the masked woman to focus on the main reason why he'd agreed to accompany his mom to the gala.

"T'll talk to her," he assured.

The masked woman hadn't walked far, so Kris hurried and caught up with her, grabbing her by the arm. He could swear that he felt her shiver in his hold before she looked at him and gritted out.

"You might want to let go ofright now, Mr. Miller." Her voice wasn't cold, but it was condescending enough to tell him that his touch wasn't welcome. His suspicions increased.

She attempted to jerk her arm away and walk off when Kris held on.

"Thalassa," he said, feeling her stiffen.
