Chapter 22 A Chance Encounter Emily snorted, spun around, and dragged Abigail with her. "Yeah, let's not crash their date. We're outta here," she said, not even glancing back. Michael just stood there, totally lost. He had no clue why he got here, but seeing her with Daniel made him want to blow up. "Mr. Wilson, can we talk?" Michael called out as Daniel walked by.
Daniel stopped. "Sure thing." Emily and Abigail were already speed-walking away, not noticing Daniel hadn't followed.
"Ugh, what rotten luck! Running into that shameless Sophia in such a gorgeous place," Abigail fumed, hands on her hips.
"Yeah, whatever. If they wanna make a problem, we'll just steer clear," Emily said, trying to keep Abigail from starting another fight.

"I know you're tough. Next time, just go for it," Emily replied.
They joked around for a bit, and Emily's mood lifted. She found a spot, set up her easel, and started painting. This resort was stunning; every view looked like a painting. But as a designer, Emily loved to draw.
"You paint, I'll explore," Abigail said, too restless to sit still. She helped Emily set up and then dashed off to snap pictures.
Emily smiled and got lost in the scenery, totally absorbed in her work. She had no idea how much thad passed when she heard someone exclaim behind her, "Wow, amazing." She turned to see a foreign guy with a few Novarian men.
"Hey there," Emily greeted with a smile.
The guy seemed more interested in her painting, staring at it. Emily had just finished a piece of a couple under a tree, looking all cozy and blending into the distant scenery. It was warm and romantic. "Is your nElla?" the guy asked, noticing the signature in the corner.
"Yep, that's me. Do you like it? I could give it to you," Emily offered, thinking he seemed nice.
"Oh, I couldn't take it. But I do love it. What do you do for a living?" he asked.
Emily thought for a second. Telling a foreigner her job didn't seem like a big deal.

"No way! Hi, I'm Nicholas. I design jewelry too," Nicholas said, extending his hand warmly.
Emily was so shocked she almost bit her tongue. She was so lucky to meet Nicholas, the Novarian rep for Phantom Beauty, while painting.
She quickly shook his hand, feeling a bit excited. After all, just a week ago, her design submitted to Moonlit Treasures had been picked by Phantom Beauty.
Meeting Nicholas today and hearing him praise her painting was the best validation Emily could get.
"Nice to meet you," Emily said excitedly, quickly taking down the painting and handing it to Nicholas. "Mr. Jackson, if you like it, please take it. I really admire Phantom Beauty's jewelry designs." Nicholas laughed. "Your painting is fantastic. I'm sure your jewelry designs are just as amazing." Emily couldn't help but feel proud. 'Of course, otherwise, how could they have chosen me?' Nicholas seemed to be on vacation and had an appointment, so Emily quickly said goodbye, not wanting to mess up his plans.
When Abigail cback and heard that Emily had met Nicholas from Phantom Beauty and given him a painting, she hugged Emily excitedly. "Emily, you're my lucky charm! You even ran into Nicholas. Did you tell him you're Ella?" Emily shook her head. "He doesn't seem to know who Ella is," she said with an awkward smile. Abigail thought for a moment and agreed. Nicholas was a big shot; the designs were done by his team. He only needed to oversee the big picture, so why would he care about a small designer? "No worries. If he doesn't know, we'll find a way to let him know. By the way, did you leave your phone number?" Abigail asked sincerely, and Emily shook her head under her earnest gaze.
Abigail was annoyed. "What can I say about you? You missed such a great opportunity." Emily shrugged indifferently. She knew Abigail was anxious for her. To beca well-known designer, she needed a legitimate opportunity to appear in public.
