Yvonne stared back at him, speechless, tears gathering in her eyes. She clenched her fists tightly as she struggled to contain herself.

"Con, let's play together." Drew sauntered up to her, handing her a sparkler. His eyes shone brighter than all the stars. Yvonne took it, her hands trembling.

The orphanage was in a remote location, and it was not likely he had purchased something so romantic from somewhere nearby. He must have prepared this in advance.

With a hiss, the sparkler in her hand lit up, and its light flickered across her delicate face. She could not help but smile, looking more and more like the girl in the photograph.

"Last time, there was a fireworks show that stunned the whole city. Did you like it?" Drew suddenly asked, glancing at her. Yvonne stared into her sparkler, her voice soft. "Yes." "Even if you enjoyed it, it doesn't matter now. I'm not as rich as Ryan, so I can't afford to spend millions on a grand romantic gesture." Yvonne offered him a faint smile, long used to his blunt way of speaking. "No, this is great." Yvonne's gentle smile outshone any fireworks. "As long as it belongs to me, it is the best in the world." She had never had anything to call her own before. Even a little sweetness was cherished as a precious treasure.

When the last sparkler was about to fizzle out, Drew turned his head, whispering in her ear with unprecedented tenderness. "You are not the only one who remembers what you really look like now." Yvonne's eyelashes were heavy with tears as she abruptly turned to face him.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, his large hand cupped the back of her neck, as he gently brought their foreheads together. "I will remember for you too." As she met his eyes, her cheeks flushed, and her heart pounded in her chest.

The sparkler went out, but the fire in their eyes burned on.

Suddenly, Yvonne's phone rang, breaking the intimate atmosphere.

She quickly cleared her throat in embarrassment, pulling away from Drew and turning to take out her phone.

Taylor's non the screen shattered the fantasy and brought her back to her cruel reality.

"Hello," Yvonne answered, her voice hoarse.

"Ms. Smith, Mr. Iverson wants you to entertain two guests from Terranova tonight." Taylor's tone was strictly business.

All the warmth drained from Yvonne's body, and a chill ran down her spine.

She quickly moved toward her car, afraid Drew would catch even half a word.

"What kind of guests? Officials? Or business partners?" "Mr. Iverson only wants you to keep them happy. You don't need to know more than that." Yvonne's heart clenched. She knew Christopher had his guard up around her, not even willing to tell her the guests' information.

Taylor sensed her wariness, and after a brief silence, he continued, "They are Mr. Iverson's business partners. This deal is very important to him, as he plans to enter the Terranova market. So, Ms. Smith, please put in extra effort. You have already displeased Mr. Iverson multiple times. Why not use this opportunity to regain his favor? Your future will be better if you cooperate." "Alright, I will return to the headquarters to prepare," Yvonne replied coldly.

"The guests are not there." Yvonne swallowed. All these years, she has always entertained guests at the headquarters and never once left. Christopher has never allowed her leave. But this time, the rules changed. Content belongs to en.swTaylor said, "The exact address will be sent to you shortly." Then the call ended abruptly. Yvonne stared blankly at the black screen, a wave of dizziness hitting her.

She could hear Drew's footsteps approaching her. Not daring to look back, she scrambled into her car and sped away, disappearing into the night. Content belongs to én.sw.net
