Chapter 131: Casual Swing
Those who wanted to participate appeared on the platform. There were around 38 participants for this event.
For the event, Aakesh would earn a 10% commission on every sale instead of the usual 1% since Aakesh worked hard for the preparations.
The sword he would give as a reward to the winner was made by him personally, and the system provided the materials.
"Fifteen of you step forward," Aakesh commented while pointing at the 15 participants standing in the front.
"The first round will be you surviving one sword swing of the warrior," Aakesh told the group again as many may have misunderstood the context.
As expected, many in the platform had dumbfounded expressions. They believed that they had to defeat the store's warrior in the first round.
"What do you mean, survive?" One participant who was in the first 15 asked with a surprised expression.
"My warrior would do a casual swing. If you stay alive, you pass the round. If you die, you fail the round," Aakesh expressionlessly responded.
"What do you mean by dying? We could die in this event?" The man asked as he backed off.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Yes, you would die but only in the virtual world. You would return uninjured here after dying."
Confused expressions appeared on the participant's faces and the crowd after hearing Aakesh.
Aakesh expressionlessly looked at the participants in response. He didn't know that he had made it worse for the participants to understand.
George knew that, so he stepped forward, turned around, and told the participants, "You don't need to worry. You won't die."
The participants didn't know who was George, so how could they trust him?
George realized that as well, so he turned around and entered the closest virtual portal. The next moment, the black screen that was put down for every two rows lighted up.
The screen then separated into fifteen sections, and only one division lightened up. George, who had just entered the portal, appeared on that section of the screen.
He was currently in an empty arena with a sword in his hand. The system gave him the sword since everyone had different weapons according to their cultivations, and Aakesh wanted the event to be at the same level for everybody.
A surprised expression appeared on Evelyn's face, seeing George on the screen as his stance was the most basic stance for any swordsmen. It was also the doing of the system. Any participant who entered this event would only have the basic knowledge of swords so that the better person wins in the end.
The next moment, on the screen, a being wearing a dark cloak and white mask appeared on the battle arena. The man also had the same sword as George, and he also took the same stance.
A bell then rang in the battle arena, signifying the start of the first round. George took a defensive posture right away as his aim was to defend the strike.
The next moment, the man casually swung his sword horizontally. George obstructed the strike right away, and it knocked him backward, but he survived the strike without any injury.
The man then disappeared from the battle arena, and George appeared on the platform with a surprised expression.
"That much power with a casual swing. I still have very much to learn," George whispered as the memory of the sword strike got embedded in his head.
"It's your turn," Aakesh said while pointing at the fourteen of the fifteen participants.
The participants still had doubts, so Punta had to tell them that nothing would happen to them. After hearing from the king, participants believed Aakesh, but there were still doubts in their heads.
But now, if they refused to believe Aakesh, it would be akin to insulting the king, so they entered the portal one by one despite having doubts.
The remaining fourteen divisions on the black screen lightened up after the participants entered, while the fifteenth section turned dark since no participant was there.
The bell in all the fourteen battle arenas rang at the same time after the appearance of the store's warrior. As in George's case, the warrior horizontally swung his sword this time, but unfortunately, the result wasn't the same.
None in the fourteen survived the swing. All of the participants faced the same result, as they split into two horizontal parts.
The next moment when they appeared on the platform, their backs were wet with cold sweat as the pain and the fear of death they had just faced was too real.
"We're alive!" Many of them cheered at once while two of the participants sat down on the platform and started remembering the sword swing.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmPeople in the crowd had shocked expressions, seeing the participants coming alive after splitting into two pieces as the scream they heard was too heart-rending for them to believe it was fake.
Only one participant passed the first round in the first fifteen participants. Aakesh then gestured to the other fifteen of the remaining twenty-three participants.
Most of the participants in the current group belonged to the royal family. The participants entered the portal one by one, and the next moment all the fifteen divisions lightened up on the black screen.
The crowd mainly focused on one division as it was their king playing the round. Pento was also in the current group of participants.
The next moment, the opponent appeared, and the bell rang.
The opponent casually swung his sword, but this time it was vertical direction instead of horizontal.
The next moment, twelve of the divisions darkened up with heart-rending screams of the participants while getting split up into two parts.
Only three of the fifteen participants in the group survived the sword swing. They were Punta, Pento, and one of the princesses of the Bisan Kingdom.
Pento only survived due to the regular battles that he had gone through in Panagea. I had helped him hone his survival skills.
Pento and the Princess became the center of attention for the crowd as well as Punta. Aakesh didn't care about that, so he gestured the last eight participants to come forward and enter the virtual portal.
In this group of eight participants, unexpectedly, five survived the swing. Two were the prince, one was the first wife of Pinto, and the other two were from the crowd who had participated.
Thirty-eight people had participated in the vent, and nine people passed the first round.. Now, they would compete for the sword.
