Cindy and Peter's outburst left the Lanecorp employees pointing and gesturing at Helen.
"That's so true. Urgh, I never knew she's really like that." "You don't really know a person, I guess!" "Whatever. I'm resigning later—it's embarrassing to work for someone like her." "Yeah. I'd be too ashamed to face anyone once news spreads.' "I'm writing my letter right now." too." Helen could certainly hear their vocal scorn and disapproval. She suddenly yelled, "Gina Zonda!" Gina actually flinched, while the Lanecorp employees were stunned as Helen cried, "What have I done to you?! Why do you have to do this to me?!" She then pointed between Peter and Cindy, shouting, "Who planned this? I've been working so hard for years, and you've been living like kings thanks to that! Why do you have to keep puttingand Frank through so much crap?!" Though Helen was biting her lip and her expression appeared almost impassive, tears were gushing down her cheeks. "I've finally gotten where I am today, and you have to do this to me?! Unable to stop her flood of emotions, she hid her face as she sobbed. "I'm your daughter! Are youbeing fair to me?! Ask your own conscience and tell me! You're my mother... How could you do this to me? Money, the manor's renovations, and furnishings... I gave you everything you asked for! How could you do this to me?!" Helen's heart-wrenching tears left Gina stumped-she did not expect that she would hurt Helen so much, just as she never thought her daughter would get so disappointed in her. Before she could speak, however, Peter strode up and pointed at Helen as he bellowed, "Really, sis?! Trying to trick so many people with your tears?! You're just afraid we'd hurt your reputation in the end!" S He could see that Gina was giving up on the land, and it would be gover for him if she did.
As such, he turned to the Lanecorp employees. "You should all just think about it-would we have chere demanding justice if we weren't desperate?!" His grandstanding quickly rallied the Lanecorp employees once more, and now, Helen's tears merely looked like an act. One of them even murmured, "Yeah... What mother would slander her own daughter anyway?" "Well said, brother!" Peter exclaimed and walked up to Gina, taking off her bandages. "Now, take a good look everyone! See what Helen's people did to my mom!" All the Lanecorp employees gasped on the spot-they could all see the gruesbruise on Gina's head, clearly left by a bludgeoning.
While there was a chance that this might have been slander before, it was not possible now with that gaping wound as proof. And the criminal was undoubtedly Helen, while her mother only cdemanding justice out of desperation.
"Ms. Lane... or perhaps I should call you only Helen now." An employee named Bob strode up, glaring at her coldly as he took off his employee ID.
