Chapter 2693 Sometimes, Regina felt like a piece of merchandise, displayed in the center of the foyer for the passersby to scrutinize at will, but now she knew it was a necessity.
Her family needed her to play the part, and it’s not as if she lacked the know-how.

Besides, until she was ten, her mother had always been by her side, holding her hand at every party, introducing her to all the familiar faces. Her mother needed to stay on good terms with these people; after all, they'd be the ones she'd rely on to look out for Regina.

You're blossoming beautifully, more and more like your mother each day. You've even got her charm, don’t you? Trying to butterup, huh?” Regina feigned shock, her mouth agape, “Me? Butter you up? I'm a journalist, Agnes; we deal in truths, not flattery.” Laughter rippled through the crowd at the right moment. “How's the journalism gig treating you?” Agnes patted her hand warmly and said, “If it ever gets too much, just letknow. | could always use someone like you in my company.” Regina shook her head with a smile. “I'm having the tof my life, really. She also understood the subtle reminder from Agnes, yet she couldnt help worrying whether she'd be able to hold onto her mother’s legacy.
“You're a good kid, Regina. | know it’s tough.” The onlookers took in the scene, exchanging knowing glances.
It seemed Regina wasn’t having the easiest twith the Tanners.
These folks were sharp, and even if they caught wind of any strife, they'd never speak of it. After all, Imogen was now the legitimate lady of the Tanner household. To marry into the Tanners in her thirties, bringing along a grown daughter, was no small feat. On the 1/5 09:47 Chapter 2693 surface, they praised Imogen, but their tone dripped with sarcasm.

Not to mention, it was plain to see how Regina had becmuch more “reserved” ever since Imogen took charge of the house.
The reasons were evident enough.
After bidding farewell to Agnes, Regina made her rounds, playing the sweet niece to other familiar elders. It wasn't too much of a hassle; after all, there weren't many at this gathering whom Regina would personally greet.
Once she made her rounds, she picked up her skirt and headed to her father’s study. But the thought of the detestable man inside made her hesitate at the door.
Regina didn’t anticipate that this moment of hesitation would be her undoing, as she collided face-to-face with Madeline.
