Chapter 2035
Giselle could not wrap her head around why Colton had chosen Ivy for the lead role in “Ballad of Valor.” A
greenhorn with zero acting chops and not a single fan to her name-how on earth was she supposed to carry a
whole movie?
It would be a box office disaster, no doubt about it.
And after today’s fiasco, she was certain Colton was second-guessing his choice. Another appearance from her and
the star role would be in the bag.
But even with Ivy’s dismal performance, Colton didn’t backtrack. Instead, he took her aside for some one-on-one
coaching.

never offered her private lessons. What was Ivy’s secret?
Her gaze slid to the nearby vanity, littered with makeup and accessories. A bag rested on the stool, clearly marked
with Ivy’s
name.
It must be Ivy’s, Giselle thought. And a wicked idea took root.
She rose and picked up the priciest eyeshadow palette, slipping it into Ivy’s bag with stealthy ease.
Ivy prided herself on being Mrs. Howard, did she not? Well, Giselle would ensure she was unmasked as a petty thief
right in front of everyone. She would relish seeing if Ivy could continue shooting with the stigma of a shoplifter
hanging over her.
When Colton wrapped up his coaching, he saw a marked improvement in Ivy’s performance. She finally embodied
the spirit “Ballad of Valor” needed, and he motioned for the crew to prepare for shooting.
Arriving on set, Ivy was ushered to the makeup room. The makeup artist beckoned her to sit for a touch-up.
“Sorry about this,” Ivy said, settling into the chair. “This morning’s makeup was a total waste. Thanks for doing this
again.”
Though the makeup artist was inwardly irked, she plastered on a smile. “No trouble at all,” she said, beginning to
work on Ivy’s
face.
Truth be told, Ivy’s flawless skin made the job a breeze. It was just the fact that she was a newbie, making the
seasoned makeup artist, who was used to attending to A-listers, feel a bit demeaned.
“Hold on… Where’s my eyeshadow palette?” While working on the eye makeup, the artist searched the table over
and over but could not find the palette she needed.

Noticing her distress, Ivy asked, “What’s wrong? Did something go missing?”
“Yeah, I can’t find my eyeshadow palette. I used it this morning, and now it’s nowhere to be found.” The artist’s
anxiety was palpable-with Ivy’s scene up next, everyone’s schedule was on hold.
Colton was known for his impatience, and if he got wind, that makeup was the holdup.
“I’ll help you look,” Ivy offered, rising to assist in the search.
But before they could find the palette, the door swung open, and the assistant director strode in. “Is everything set?
Can we start shooting?”
“The eye makeup isn’t done yet. The palette’s missing. Just a bit more time, please,” the artist said, clearly rattled.
The assistant director’s expression darkened with irritation before he prompted them again and left the room.
