Chapter 2482
Regret gnawed at Tessa’s insides, anger simmering just beneath the surface. Why, oh why, had she
been so blind, smothering her heart and soul into such a family?
If only she had spared a sliver of love for Ivy, maybe she wouldn’t be lying here sick and ignored.
Finn and Clara dodged her like she was the plague, afraid of catching a whiff of her
illness.
Ivy let out a sigh of relief. With Balfour waiting outside, a spring of levity bubbled within her. “I’m doing
quite well, though I reckon that’s not what you want to hear. But since I’ve left the Dunhill residence,
every single day has been a step up from the life I once knew.”

Tessa could see the change in Ivy.
If she had to pay the price for the wrongs of her earlier life, she hoped with all her heart that Ivy, her

the Dunhill family, ever.
Sadly, she lacked the right to voice such wishes now, her strength waning.
Tessa closed her eyes, tears escaping down her cheeks, and Ivy could only scoff at the absurdity of it
all.
“Let me ask you a few questions. If it’s a ‘yes, blink twice. For ‘no,’ just once.”
Tessa opened her eyes to face her daughter.
“Has someone been arranged to take care of you?”
She blinked twice.
Someone to take care of her? Then why were they not here in this room, attending to her every need?
Tessa had to be taken care of 24/7!
“Have Finn and Clara visited you?”
The question stung Tessa, and she blinked once, her tears flowing anew.
Ivy thought she would feel a sense of vindication seeing this. Tessa had poured her life into that man
and his daughter, and now that she was in need, not a soul cared to tend to
her.
“Alright, no more tears, they’re not good for your health. I’ve got other matters to attend to, so I won’t
linger here. As for the rest, I’ll see about transferring you to a better hospital and find someone to look
after you. This place is just not up to snuff.”
Deep down, Tessa knew that Finn and Clara hadn’t given her a second thought; otherwise, why would
she be in this rundown clinic?

Chapter 2482
The hospital was lifeless, let alone capable of curing her.

She had overheard the doctors-there was hope for recovery in a proper hospital, with daily
rehabilitation and therapy.
But Finn had dismissed the idea with a wave of his hand, not even bothering to give her a second
glance!
Truth be told; after realizing her husband’s callousness, Tessa felt like she was just waiting to die in that
hospital, void of hope for her future.
Yet, the moment she laid eyes on her own daughter, a faint glimmer of hope surged within her. She
knew all too well that Ivy had a tender heart.
As a child, Ivy was often mistaken for tough, but those who got close knew her heart was as soft as a
cloud.
It was a pity Tessa realized this truth too late, and now, faced with Ivy, a twinge of guilt shadowed her
heart.
She felt ashamed at the thought of expecting her daughter to arrange her care after all these years of
neglect, and yet, in the end, it was only Ivy standing by her bedside, showing filial piety.
