Chapter 496: Hypocrisy Alert - 1

Hu Lei moved on to pick the second candidate.

Below the stage, Song Fang got up from his seat and took Su Xing’s exercise book away. “Is this the question that he asked, right? I’ll take yours up and copy it.”

Su Xing turned her head around and said, “Nope. I don’t know which question he is asking too.”

Song Fang became speechless.

‘Well, d*mn. I’m doomed.’

Every student in the hall kept their heads low as they prayed in their hearts that Hu Lei would not pick them.

“Holy! Don’t look towards here. I don’t know how to answer those questions at all!” Wang Yu cried as he covered himself up with the textbook.

A fat student hid underneath the table.

Honestly, they would not be so nervous if it was Fan Gaoda, but who was Hu Lei? He was a professor whose name was well-known at home and abroad, and his social status was even higher than He Min, who had been the vice-chancellor of Tsinghua University before.

They all felt it was bad if they could not answer his questions.

Hu Lei’s gaze scanned around the hall and then he suddenly turned back to the row at the back, “You, the girl sitting at the right side of the boy I called just now. Both of you are coming up to answer my questions.”

The rest of the students heaved out a long sigh of relief.

Wang Yu raised his hand, tapping his finger all the way down from Song Fang’s forehead to his chest before drawing a cross in the air and said, “Amen, may the Lord bless you, my child.”

Song Fang whacked his hand away and shouted, “Scat!”

Wang Yu turned his head to look at the fat student. “He scolded me!”

“Nah, he’s not,” the fat student said. He then picked a peach stone from the rubbish bag and said to Song Fang, “I know you’re not a Christian, son.”

He paused for a moment, pulled Song Fang’s hand over, and put the peach stone in his hand. “Amitabha. Poor kid, may you step into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss soon.” action

The vein on Song Fang’s forehead bulged. He gritted his teeth tightly and said, “Do both of you have a death wish?”

‘Oh, so he’s not a Buddhist too?’

Wang Yu and the fat student turned to Ye Jiu.

At first, Ye Jiu did not know why they were looking at him. However, after he took a look at Song Fang, he soon saw the light and he said, “You usually don’t take medication or injections when you’re sick, right?”

Song Fang, who was as fit as a fiddle, nodded firmly.

‘Yes! Injections and medicines are for the weak!’

Ye Jiu took a big step back. He brought his brows together in a tight frown as if the scale had dropped before his eyes, “So you’re one of those Law Wheel practitioners?”

Song Fang became speechless.

Both Wang Yu and the fat student held their hands together and trembled in fear. The fat student then took down the jade amulet from his neck and put it on Song Fang’s hand. He said, “This, this is my family heirloom. Let’s join Buddhism with me, brother. Nothing will end up well if you believe in a cult!”

Song Fang was so angry that he did not know what he should say. He took a deep breath and hissed, “Scat!”

“Okay!” Wang Yu replied instantly. He hollered both the fat student and Ye Jiu, and three of them then made way for Song Fang to go through.

Song Fang had no idea what he should say.

In the meantime, Hu Lei was looking through the test results of the 3 classes on a table beside the hall.

Song Fang wheedled his way to the front of the stage. He was holding a chalk in his hand, and Fu Zhi was on his left.

His question was easier compared to the one Fu Zhi was answering, yet he did not know what he should do or where he should start at all. He even began to wonder about the possibility for him to get away from this by kneeling in front of Hu Lei and begging for his mercy.

When the thought came into Song Fang’s mind, he touched his nose embarrassingly. He knew it was not right to give up just like that, but as an underachiever, he really had no clue how to answer the question at all.

“F(e) = ex, f(a) = 2ex…”

Just when he had no idea what he should do, a clear voice wafted into his ears and he was stunned. It took him only a few seconds to figure out who the voice was and he jerked his head towards his left.

Fu Zhi was now answering her question on the blackboard. There was no expression on her face, and it seemed as if she was not the one who gave him the answer just now.

“Why are you looking at me? Hurry up and write the answer.”

Her voice came again and Song Fang was snapped out of his reverie.

At the same time, Hu Lei, who was looking through the test results, lifted his head up and asked, “Who is Fu Zhi?”

The class monitor of Class 19 pointed at the stage. “She’s over there.”

Hu Lei looked over in the direction of the girl’s finger.

This was the first time he came to give a lesson to a group of high school students in a small town. He thought nothing of them, but he was still marveled by Fu Zhi’s test results.

For Hu Lei, he felt like he was looking for food in a rubbish dump.

It was only now that he realized Fu Zhi was the one who played with her phone since the moment she came into the hall. The reason he did not do anything to her was that he did not think it was worth the effort. After all, even though Fu Zhi’s test results were remarkable, he did not need a student who was too full of herself.

With that thought in mind, Hu Lei put the stack of test results away and said, “I will give you guys another 3 minutes. If you can answer the question within the given time, go back and copy the question and answer 1,000 times.”

The chalk in Song Fang’s hand broke into two pieces when he heard Hu Lei’s voice. However, Fu Zhi was unperturbed. She continued to say, “After combining and substituting the quadratic equation, you will get a = 15.”

As Song Fang wrote the answer on the blackboard, he asked, “What about you if you teach me?”

Song Fang was truly worried about Fu Zhi. He did not want her to get punished because of him. Just when he turned his head slightly to look at her, he realized that she was already halfway through writing down the answer.

Song Fang became speechless. It was now that he realized he was too naive. How could he, a loser, question his Sister Zhi?!

Fu Zhi continued to walk Song Fang through a few more steps, and he went back to his seat after he had finished his question.

After Fu Zhi had finished answering her own question, she went back to her seat as well.

Hu Lei turned his body sideways and scanned through their answers. Then, he commented, “There aren’t many problems with their answers, so you guys can follow their answers if you come across a similar question during the exam. However, the method Fu Zhi demonstrated is a bit complicated, and there’s an easier way to solve the question. You guys can draw a diagram starting from this step, and for the rest of the steps, please go back and refer to your textbook. I will not be teaching you guys as it will only be a waste of time.”

The students became speechless. They had already given up by now, and they just hoped that he could end the class as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Wang Yu pushed Song Fang’s shoulder and said, “What a surprise, brother. I didn’t know you could answer the question. Have you been going to a tuition class behind my back?”

Song Fang waved his arm and replied, “Hehe, that’s the reaction I want to see. Do you know how long I have been preparing for this moment? Now nobody can look down on me anymore!”

“Drop your act,” the fat student rolled his eyes at Song Fang, “Do you really think everyone’s blind? I saw it’s Sister Zhi who gave you the answer.”

‘Oh well,’ Song Fang shrugged. “Not only does she excel at her studies, but she could do two things at once. While she’s answering her own question, she reads the answer to my question as well. From here, we can see that she must be someone who’s able to juggle herself between her boyfriend and her other lovers without any difficulties.”

Fu Zhi did not know what she should say about the comment.

The class continued. However, perhaps Hu Lei had been talking about some profound, incomprehensible things like college calculus or mechanical heart, most of the students could barely keep their eyes open. A few boys sitting in the last row even took their phones out and began to play games.

For a moment, only a few students were listening to him.

Fu Zhi laid on the table and closed her eyes. After Hu Lei had finished writing something on the blackboard, he turned his head around and realized that most of the students were not paying attention to him. His face sank and he threw the chalk in his hand towards Fu Zhi’s table.

Then, he smacked the blackboard and shouted, his brow deeply furrowed and anger vibrating off him. “Keep your eyes on the blackboard! You’re a student, and a student’s responsibility is to pay attention in the class while a teacher is teaching at the front! Do you guys know that we’re living in a big world and there’s always someone who’s better than you? I know some of you have good grades, but that’s because you’re in No.1 High School and No.1 High School is just a school in a small town. After you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone and gone into the outside world, you will only be a loser!”

Fu Zhi raised her head and looked at him.

Hu Lei threw the rest of the chalk into a box and continued, “If it were not for Professor He, you guys will never have a chance to come across a black technology like this!”

He was stating the truth. Only professors could take part in the research of the mechanical heart.

Fu Zhi let out a sneer, and Hu Lei exploded.

“You over there! What are you laughing at? Do you think I’m wrong? Or is it that you’ve heard something like this before, so you don’t need me to teach you anymore?”

Fu Zhi nodded and replied matter-of-factly, “Yes. I’ve heard of it before.”

Hu Lei smacked the chalk on the table and snarled, “So what’s now? Are you going to replace me to continue the class?”

Fu Zhi rose to her feet and patted Lu Yubai’s shoulder.

Lu Yubai turned his head to look at her and she said, “Professor Hu asks me to replace him to continue the class, so let me through.”

Lu Yubai then said, “I don’t think that’s what he really means.”

Honestly, it went without saying that Fu Zhi knew Hu Lei was just bluffing, but she did not like his attitude.

She walked up to the blackboard, and Hu Lei retreated to one side.

Fu Zhi wiped the diagram of the mechanical heart off the blackboard and said, “Professor Hu had said just now. This is not important and it won’t come out as a question in the college entrance examination, so to keep on talking about this is just a waste of time.”

Hu Lei was stunned as he did not expect this at all. Truth be told, he did not feel humiliated or embarrassed when Fu Zhi was criticizing his research. In fact, he felt some of her points were very on-point. That being said, he had put countless efforts into this research, so he did not think anybody would know about the mechanical heart more than he did.

With that thought in mind, he frowned and said, “Do you know that I’ve gotten an award for this mechanical heart design?”

“So? The lifespan of a mechanical heart is only five years, and due to the immaturity of the technology, there is a zero probability that a human can survive with a mechanical heart. Your design is great, but you don’t have a good understanding of the human body. As a result, not only is your mechanical heart failing to perform as it intended to be, but it also will damage the liver function of the human body, accelerating death,” Fu Zhi said.

A few students at the front row made eye signals at Fu Zhi, telling her to stop talking as they could see that Hu Lei’s face was getting darker and darker with every passing second.

The class monitor of Class 20 stood up and chimed in as well, trying her best to smooth over the situation, “Ah, if it’s something not important, let’s continue our lesson.”

After all, they did not understand a single thing about the mechanical heart as well.

A girl beside her also nodded. “Yeah, right. Zhizhi, stop arguing with him. Or else, other classes might say you don’t respect him. Let’s continue with our lesson.”

If anything happened to Hu Lei during the class and he did not want to teach them anymore, they would not be able to explain to the school.

However, it was already too late. After hearing what Fu Zhi had said, Hu Lei shot up from his seat. In his perspective, Fu Zhi was challenging his expertise and it was something he could not accept.

As such, he went up to the stage and began arguing with Fu Zhi about the mechanical heart.

Since no teachers were allowed to join the extra classes, the group of people with the highest level of authority in the hall were the class monitors of the three classes. Since the situation had already gone out of hand, the class monitors looked at each other and the class monitors of Class 19 went out to look for Director Liu.

On the stage, Fu Zhi continued, “Let’s just put your theory aside and look at these two math questions on the blackboard. This is something that has not been covered by our school teacher. Our school hopes that you can give a different perspective on how to tackle maths question papers during the examination, and that’s the reason we invited you here today. We didn’t invite you here to waste our time. What do you think, Professor Hu?”

“I’m wasting everybody’s time?”

Hu Lei’s face was beyond dark. “Do you have any idea how many people are waiting to attend my class?”

“I don’t know and I don’t want to know,” Fu Zhi replied, “I just know that you’re not doing your job properly. Your audience right now is a group of high school students, so please be professional and stop putting the cart before the horse by going into detail about something that high school students don’t know.”

“You mean I’m talking crap?” Hu Lei asked, his face livid with rage.

“Are you not?” Fu Zhi replied.

Hu Lei then looked at the students below the stage.

The first one to speak up was Song Fang, who was sitting in the last row. “Well, you’re going too fast, and we can’t keep up with you.”

Then, Wang Yu chimed in, “We just want to know how to tackle the examination, and besides, I don’t think Class 1 will understand the things you’ve been teaching as well.”

“You’re doing a good job, but it would be better if you stop teaching something so hard to understand.”

“You’ve been talking about something outside our knowledge for nearly half of the class. Do you know how important the final examination is to us?”

Hu Lei’s face became darker and darker as more and more students expressed their dissatisfaction. He said, “Alright, then. If you guys have a problem with my way of teaching and you all think Fu Zhi is right, I will let her continue the class, then!”

“Really? That’s awesome!” Someone said, “I think Fu Zhi will do a better job at teaching us than you.”

“… Great! This is just great!” Hu Lei took his stuff and before he exited the hall, he shouted, “I will let Professor He know about everything that happened here today, and I will tell you this right here and right now, I, Wu Lei, would rather jump to my death than give you guys another lesson!”
