Chapter 1564 Ian’s Reservations

Ian hesitated for a moment before answering the phone. In reality, he knew very well what Yulia was going to say,

especially after what had happened today. With the tide of popular opinion turning against her, she was probably

calling him to figure out how to salvage her reputation.

After Ian answered the phone, Yulia first asked, “Did I wake you up?”

Ian deliberately lowered his voice. “It’s okay. I’ve left the room. She’s still asleep.”

Yulia fell silent for a moment before saying, “I really shouldn’t have bothered you at such a late hour, but there’s

something I’d like to discuss with you.”

Ian replied, “Sure. Go ahead.”

Yulia exhaled before saying in a relaxed tone, “I didn’t expect the incident to have such huge repercussions online. I

wanted to issue my statement earlier, but the magazine publisher was concerned about the possible consequences.

They kept revising the statement, fearing that any inappropriate remark would be seized upon and made an issue

out of, yet things have now gotten into such a state. With someone fanning the flames online, the tide of popular

opinion is already getting out of control. Even though it doesn’t have much impact on me, the magazine publisher

has a lot to consider. So I’m wondering if you could hold a press conference for Cindy and me to step forward and

explain the matter this time.” After a moment’s pause, she added, “It’ll be better if Mrs. Morgan can be present

too.”

In reality, Ian didn’t think it was necessary to go to such lengths. “The place where we previously met should have

CCTV installed, so the matter this time can be explained away once the surveillance footage is found and released.

We have nothing to do with each other. We just need to let the facts speak for themselves.”

Yulia fell silent on the other end of the line. She couldn’t make it clear that her purpose wasn’t to clarify the matter

but to salvage her reputation.

Truth be told, the matter could be clarified pretty easily. If Aurora could step forward, it would prove that Yulia and

Ian weren’t meeting alone. Moreover, judging from the netizens’ stance, no one believed there really was

something shady between her and Ian. Instead, now they were saying that she was up to no good and that she had

evil designs right from the start.

However, Ian pretended that he didn’t understand what Yulia was implicitly suggesting. He replied, “My agency has

sent someone to the cafe where we met. The surveillance footage will probably be released soon, and it will explain

this matter away by then.” In convincing fashion, he advised, “It’ll make us look guilty if we make too big a fuss

about it, so we just have to show the evidence.”

Yulia was too proud to tell Ian what she was thinking about. After a long silence, she responded, “Well, what you

said does make sense. In that case, let’s wait and see what will happen next.”

Ian chuckled softly. “Okay. We’ll think about what to do next if the public’s reaction still isn’t in our favor.”

It was late, so Ian hung up after talking to Yulia. He wasn’t sleepy at all as he sat on the bed with his cell phone in

his hand.

It wasn’t that he was unwilling to help Yulia. However, once a press conference was held, not only would Cindy get

involved, but even Aurora might be dragged into this. He didn’t wish to see things unfold in this manner.

Ian was grateful that Yulia had thought of him when she had job resources, but these job resources weren’t enough

reason for him to put those around him at risk for Yulia’s sake. He didn’t care whether Yulia would be angry with

him. It would be great if he could get his hands on the job resources Yulia had wanted to provide him with, but he

didn’t mind if he couldn’t.

He sat on the bed for a while. As he still wasn’t sleepy at all, he got up and left the room. It was midnight, and the

living room was dark. He looked out the window and noticed that the buildings across from his house already had

their lights switched off.

Ian lit his way to the fridge using his cell phone’s flashlight. Then, he took out a bottle of beer and drank straight

from the bottle without using a glass, finishing half of the bottle in one gulp.
