Chapter 669 Nonsense
Inside the living room of the Windsor family’s residence was complete silence. Everyone
held their breaths in anticipation of the tense discussion that would take place soon. James
hung his head in defeat-this was the first time he had failed so miserably in his life.
"Now that everyone is here, let's discuss how we should deal with this," Caleb Windsor
spoke. Though he hadn't been very involved in the family's affairs, he was James' father.
He knew he had to step up in a situation like this.
The Windsors were a relatively large clan. In addition to Caleb's family, there were also his
siblings' families. Hence, there were quite a few people in the living room. However, no
one spoke up. They were all just branch families attached to the main Windsor family, so
they had no right to oppose any decision that Caleb made.
Only the Windsors' older generation had the right to say something. Cillian, James' eldest
uncle, spoke up first. His face was stern as he glared at James. "How could you do such a
despicable thing? Look at how people are talking about our family online!"

angriest among them.
"Cillian, it wasn't James' fault. He was obviously set up by that woman." Cyrus, another
one of James' uncles, defended him. He didn't think James had done anything wrong.
James listened quietly, not saying a word. He knew he had made a mistake, so no matter
what they said, or even if they stripped him of his right to manage the Windsor family, he
wouldn't object. However, there was one thing he was determined about.
Looking at his father and uncles, James slowly spoke up, "Dad, Uncle Cillian, Uncle Cyrus,
this is my fault. I was careless and fell into that woman's scheme. No matter what
punishment you give me, I'll accept it, but..." He paused for a moment and said seriously,
"I will never marry that woman."
Upon hearing that, both Cillian and Caleb frowned. They clearly disapproved of what
James had said. Only Cyrus supported him, but his support was weak, and he had little
power in such a situation.
"This situation has caused such a big stir. How do you plan to eliminate the negative
impact it has caused if you don't marry her?" Caleb questioned. Like Cillian, he attached
great importance to the Windsors' reputation.
James lowered his gaze and insisted, "No matter what, I'm not going to marry her. Worse
comes to worst, just appoint someone else to manage the Windsors, then."
"If I'm no longer the one calling the shots in the Windsor family, Jolene won't insist on
marrying me, right?" James thought.
"Nonsense!" Caleb shouted angrily. He had spared no effort to get James to his current
position.
Although everyone was sitting together now as a family, back when they competed for the
head of the Windsors, everyone pulled out all the stops. None of them gave in to anybody
else in the family.
The atmosphere became tense, and it seemed like they couldn't reach a consensus.
Right then, the butler walked in with a phone and went straight to Caleb. He said very
softly, "Sir, the Walters are calling."

Although he said it quietly, everyone heard it all at once because it was completely silent
in the living room.
Everyone turned to look at the phone, including James. He didn't know what choice
Graham would make, but he had a vague feeling of unease.
Caleb sighed and then answered the phone call from Graham. No one knew what Graham
had said on the other end of the line, but Caleb's expression became increasingly strained.
After a while, Caleb hung up the call and looked at James. "The Walters wants you to take
responsibility."
"That’s impossible!" James refused without hesitation and felt a little resentful toward
Graham.
"You need to think carefully. The Walters and the Windsors are currently in a phase of
collaboration. If you refuse, our previous efforts will go down the drain, and you'll make an
enemy out of the Walters. Who knows, they might turn around and join forces with the
Glasses right away," Caleb advised.
He could read the situation well and knew what lengths a father would go for his child.
