Chapter 676 Any Consolation Is Meaningless
Jenny wanted to say that James was her senior and was like family to her. But when she
was about to say that, she suddenly noticed Alec's abnormal interest in her affairs. She
stared at him suspiciously and said, "Mr. Faust, aren't you getting too involved in my
business?"
"Do you really think I care? I was just worried our collaboration would be affected if you
were in such a state. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered." Alec sneered, his eyes full of
disdain.
"Is that so?” Jenny responded. She couldn't quite shake off the feeling that something was
off.
To be exact, something had felt off about Alec ever since he had called her. He hadn't
taken the initiative to see her since he went missing. Today, he called her and even
handed her information about the Glasses. The reason behind his actions didn't seem as
simple as he made them out to be.

He spoke sarcastically with contempt in his eyes.
Jenny had suspicions of that being the case, but now, that conjecture was thoroughly
overturned.
"That would be the best. You and I aren't close friends or confidants, so you shouldn't ask
me about my business in the future." Alec wasn't the only one capable of blunt and
insensitive remarks. Two could play that game.
Alec was annoyed and felt that he was wasting his breath. "Rest assured that I'm not
interested in your affairs."
"But I'm quite interested in your business, though." Jenny suddenly started smiling.
"What's going on between you and Miss Watkins?"
Alec's expression stiffened. He couldn't quite catch up to Jenny's tone, which changed all
of a sudden.
"What does it have to do with you?"
"Nothing. I'm just curious.’ Jenny smiled, not caring if Alec answered her question or not.
She was just asking casually.
However, she was indeed a little curious. How did the young lady of the Watkins get
involved with Alec? The Watkins was much more influential than the Walters-they were
basically second only to the Fausts. Why would such a person support Alec? What were
her motives for doing so?
Alec gave her an unamused glare and said coldly, "Don't be nosy. We're just business
partners. You don't need to know things outside of our collaboration."
Jenny acknowledged what he said perfunctorily and grumbled that he was the one who
started the topic first.
"I'll be leaving," she announced. She didn't want to waste her breath talking to him when
they didn't have a common ground.
This time, Alec didn't stop her. He realized he'd been paying too much attention to her,
which made him feel a little annoyed. He'd just done a therapy session with Blake in the

At that moment, Alec couldn't help but wonder if his fondness for Jenny was really just a
psychological problem or if he actually liked her. He quickly dismissed the thought as soon
as it arose, thinking it was impossible. He never looked back and wouldn't get hung up on
a woman.
With that in mind, he got up and left. He had to keep himself busy, so he wouldn't have
time to think too much.
After Jenny left Alec's villa, she walked past James' house and resisted the urge to knock
on his door. She stared at the door for a while and left. At this time, any words of
consolation were meaningless for him. Perhaps he didn't want any comfort either.
As she got into her car, Jenny suddenly remembered that Alec had said he'd merged his
company with Paul's. Did this mean Paul had also come to Bardoff City?
"No! I have to warn Stephanie. Otherwise, Paul might bother her again," Jenny thought.
Unbeknownst to Jenny, Stephanie was sitting right across from Paul when she answered
Jenny's call. The atmosphere was stifling.
