Gumihou: Mediate the ‘eeeee!!!’ and summarise some of the many repeats of Things We Already Know Damnit. Redid the whole chapter, more or less.
“So, that person is coming.”
The next morning, I set my familiars down to tell them The News. There was no way to hide this fact, and it is my duty as their Master to allow them the opportunity to mentally prepare themselves for… a certain someone’s presence.
Naturally, I made sure to have this talk after a good breakfast.
“What person?” Grandpa Gon looked tensed.
“Umu, is it that-”
“”Don’t say it!!!”” Dora-chan screeched, cutting off Fer’s slow drawl.
“”What is it~~? Who is it~~?”” Sui bobbed in place looking curiously at everyone in turn.
Ah, Sui-tan is the cutest~~
Also, I vaguely remember That Person said something about ‘If you happen to catch a Leviathan, do bring it over~’ when they heard that I was heading for Verulean.
I-I can’t imagine what his reaction would be once he heard that we really did have a Leviathan in our hands…
By the way, Dora-chan was flying around the room going ‘Gehh!!’ and ‘Nooo!!’ while Grandpa Gon had practically turned into stone . I could not even begin to guess what was going on inside the Ancient Dragon’s head. Whatever it is, it must have something to do with Dragon Breath.
No, no, that’s a little unfair to That Person.
He’s a passionate person. An expert in his field. People may call him a pervert, but that’s only when it comes to his passion. He’s the acknowledged expert, everyone says so. Look, even the Royal Capital Guild sends for him.
He’s the pro among pros.
A super pro.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSo pro that he tipped over into being a perv.
“Umu, he’s still the best in his field,” said Fer.
“…kuuuhhhh—” was the only thing that came out of Grandpa Gon’s mouth. The wise and eloquent Ancient Dragon had been aggravated to the point of making incoherent sounds.
“”I guess…”” Dora-chan muttered as he sulked in a corner.
I supposed, between the annoying Elland-san and eating Leviathan… the prospect of eating Leviathan won by a small margin.
“Here’s to hoping that that creature would be distracted by the Leviathan,” said Grandpa Gon.
““Huh, yeah, I’m going to make sure I’m far, far away from that thing,”” said Dora-chan.
“… why do I get the feeling that Elland-san is being treated like a giant cockroach here?” I mused, feeling a little sorry for the Elf.
“Speaking of which, I heard that Elland will be here in three days,” said Willem-san.
“… haahhh…”
““… haaahhhhh…””
My two Dragon familiars looked especially depressed. Well, I can’t blame them. Sui extended her tentacles and tapped Grandpa Gon and Dora-chan’s paws.
“”Okay~?””
Ahh, my Sui-tan is so compassionate~
“Oi, what’s with this gloomy atmosphere?” Fer snapped. “Why are you two so miserable even before that Elf is here?”
“F-fer? Why are you being so insensitive you overgrown ball of fur!!?”
“Wh-who’s an overgrown ball of fur?! I’m a majestic Fenrir! A Legendary Beast–!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever, you’re not the one harassed by that person… hey! Get your foot off my head!!”
I tugged at the fur on Fer’s forepaw.
“How dare you call me an overgrown ball of fur!!”
“Grrr, if you step any harder and my head explodes, just who is going to cook your precious Leviathan, huh?”
The paw suddenly disappeared. I glared at the overgrown ball of fur that is Fer.
“Humph,” said the overgrown ball of fur.
All three of us, the regal Grandpa Gon and resentful Dora-chan, were glaring at him. Sui looked back and forth between us for a moment before bouncing to my side and puffing up her cheeks in the cutest ‘glare’ I had ever seen.
Fer looked away.
We glared.
He turned another 30 degrees away.
We kept glaring.
Suddenly, he turned around and stomped one paw on the ground and loudly cried, “Humph, it’s all that stupid Elf’s fault. How dare he harass my companions!”
We maintained our glare.
“Th-that’s right! That perverted Elf kept trying to touch Dora-chan and poke Grandpa Gon for his blood and saliva, it’s disgusting! I, the great Fenrir, have the obligation to protect my fellow familiars!”
“… yeah, you do that,” I said.
“Haaahhh…”
“”Haaaahhhhh…””
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“U-umu, my companions! We should go hunting to alleviate our mood! There is nothing better than a nice hunt to relieve one’s worries!!”
““Yay~! Pew pew~!””
Sui clearly had no idea what was going on, but she caught on to the word ‘hunting’ soon enough. Before I knew it, plans for a hunt were already underway.
“O-oi, are you guys really going to go hunting?” said Willem-san nervously. [1]
“Well, it will be another few before the actual dismantling starts, right?” I said, “I understand that there’s no choice but to wait, but surely it’s fine to let them go and spend their energy a bit?”
“That’s…”
“Umu, let’s go!”
“A hunt sounds like an excellent idea.”
“”I don’t care about anything else, let’s goo!!!””
“”Yay~!! Hunting~ hunting~””
“H-hey, aren’t you going to stop them?” Willem-san looked like he was going to pull out his precious hair.
I looked at him for a moment. Then, stepped back and waved a hand for him to step forward. “You are most welcome to try and convince them not to go.”
There was some blustering, some hemming and hawing, but in the end, Willem-san did not step forward. Not that I blame him. Hopefully, the next time he tells me to ‘control my familiars’, he will remember this moment.
“I-if you’re going hunting, where do you plan to go and, and for how long?” he blustered.
I looked at Fer, the mastermind of this ‘trip’.
“Well?”
“Umu, not far. Not with Grandpa Gon anyway,”
I felt it when Willem-san twitched next to me. Still, I maintained my serene expression and said, “As he says, please help me to report this to the Royal Capital Adventurer’s Guild later.”
“Umu, s-sure…”
[Gumihou: A rather short chapter, but not too bad.]
[1] Farmed out Mukouda’s nervousness to Willem. It was funnier to have Willem doing some of the ‘’aaahh’ and reduce the forced (and sometimes repetitive) comedic scenes
