Dilan expected the farewell to be more emotional, but it happened rather quickly.
He was given the papers about the Trial of the Wise, which he passed quickly before he showed the Oracle three of the techniques he had learned in the last ten thousand years.
Afterward, it was already time for the Trial of Power, the only Trial that was bound to take quite a while for him to finish.
"You won't be able to use any abilities, and your stats will be adjusted every few rounds. Do you have any questions?" The Oracle asked while levitating in the air above the Colosseum's arena.
She didn't show a change in her emotions even after he passed the first two trials with ease though it looked like her earlier gentle expression had simply disappeared from the face of the Universe.
'Is she sulking because I mentioned the Eternal Prisoner? Just who is that person to her?'
"My abilities might be sealed but I still have my Special Traits and Constitution, right?" He asked and the Oracle nodded her head.
This was more than enough for Dilan to walk over to the wall where hundreds of weapons were exhibited.
"I'm ready to start," He announced after two minutes of fidgeting around with a bunch of weapons.
Upon hearing his declaration, the Oracle snapped her fingers and a small horde of Goblins appeared all around the Colosseum's arena.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'A total of 32 ordinary Goblins…that's it?'
Dilan could sense that his stats had adjusted to twice that of an average human before the Primordial Ascension. The Goblins were weaker than him according to their stats but their numerical advantage and personality were something that couldn't be underestimated.
They were vicious little creatures who would throw themselves into the pits of hell if it meant that their attacks would reach their designated target.
Nonetheless, Dilan was not worried, not even in the slightest.
He picked up the bow to his right and he removed the first arrow from the quiver that was leaning against the weapon stand.
Aiming at his opponents, Dilan released the first arrow. He didn't use a single trace of mana, but that was not necessary because the arrowhead pierced through the tallest Goblin's eye, killing the monster on the spot.
Dilan didn't even watch the trajectory of the first arrow to know that it would hit the target. He moved and fired the second arrow when the first had just found its target.
This action repeated itself over and over again until there was no arrow left in the quiver.
"Looks like this bastard's training session was worth it…I don't even want to know how many arrows I've created out of pure mana and released, just because that Fallen Celestial bastard asked me to do it…" Dilan swore under his breath when he recalled the teachings of the Fallen Celestial, the only jerk, who wanted him to have perfect control over mana before he started to teach him properly.
The use of mana was not important in the first round of the Trial of Power, but the trajectory of the arrows he released was something he could accurately predict even with his eyes closed!
"Only eight guys are left. That's quite a shame," Dilan clicked his tongue as he removed a bunch of Tang daggers from his belt. He used his Green Magic with a tiny trace of mana and threw one Tang dagger after another.
Each dagger killed a Goblin, only for Dilan to leave a single one alive.
He approached the last one with the longsword he unsheathed from the scabbard, just to raise it high in the air, twist the sword and cut a leg out of the Goblin's body.
The Goblin screeched out in pain, it slumped to the ground and started to bleed severely.
"No worries, I will kill you once I collect the arrows and Tang daggers. Don't annoy me," Dilan said calmly before he did exactly that; collect his weapons.
The Tang daggers could be used as short daggers and as throwing knives. Dilan felt that their use as the latter was exceptionally good because they were perfectly balanced.
A small smile appeared on his face as he collected the last arrow. He brought them to where they belonged before he manifested a small needle made of compressed winds.
'Die for me!' Dilan thought while releasing the wind needle that pierced inside the last Goblin's heart, killing him.
After the last monster was killed, Dilan felt relief spread through his body and flood his veins as the bits of exhaustion and the faint soreness in his arm were wiped away.
At the same time, it was as if his strength had improved a little.
'2.5 Units on average?'
Just as he was testing the extent of his strength, the new batch of monsters appeared.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmOther than a total of 63 Goblins, a Goblin Shaman had appeared in the Colosseum's Arena.
The Goblin Shaman weaved a spell that spread a safety net over all his allies. This attracted Dilan's attention because it turned his situation upside down.
"You annoying pest," Dilan growled and he pointed his finger at the Goblin Shaman like a gun. Electric currents engulfed his index finger out of which a lightning bullet shot all of a sudden.
The bullet didn't require much mana because it was mostly created with the use of his Ring of Infinite Elements constitution and tremendous control of a minute amount of mana.
The lightning bullet shot out and passed by all the Goblins, before finally piercing deep inside its designated target.
The Black skull attached to the head of the Goblin Shaman's staff burst open, destroying the treasure in its entirety. In response, the Goblin Shaman's woven spell was terminated and the amplification in the Goblin's strength deteriorated completely.
Dilan smiled in response to that and he started the second slaughter fest using the bow and arrows in his arsenal.
It was a little boring, but Dilan didn't have enough mana to use any of the techniques he had learned from the Gods. Even the first stage of the Lightning God's Fist required a little bit more mana to be used in an efficient way.
That was a little sad but it was something Dilan could cope with thanks to the Fallen Celestial's teachings.
It felt a little bit weird to think like this all of a sudden, but the teachings of the Fallen Celestial made him rethink the usage of mana all over again.
He only chose to use mana when it was truly necessary, or when it gave him an upper hand. That was also why he used not the slightest bit of mana to kill close to 30 Goblins until both the Tang Daggers and all arrows had been used up.
Afterward, Dilan ended up with a black iron sword in his hands. It was a perfectly normal longsword without any special properties. But that was not necessary because the weapon was strong enough for everything he wanted to achieve.
He moved as fast as the wind, slashing and piercing around himself. Close to ten goblins died in ten seconds before Dilan started to feel as if he was slowly getting into the game.
"This is so much better than the City of Trials!!"
