Chapter 274 Mo Rou
"Hm, what is this uneasy feeling?" Mo Rou frowned. Then she stood up, and she felt as if she heard the screaming of people. She closed her eyes and focused so that she could hear, and she heard clearly.
"Aahhhaa... help... he..."
Mo Rou immediately walked out of her room, and she walked around the city, and saw the heart of a sprawling city, now host to a chilling and inexplicable event. People from all walks of life - men and women, old folks and children - lay motionless on the streets, their bodies intact without any sign of injury. Their faces were twisted into grotesque masks of terror as if they had witnessed the most fearsome and horrifying thing imaginable.
The streets, once bustling with life, were now eerily quiet and filled with a sense of foreboding. Carriages were stopped in their tracks, and even pets and stray animals seemed to have been affected. The community was paralyzed with fear and confusion.
Mo Rou's eyes widened as she continued her exploration of the city's haunting silence. As she turned a corner, something caught her attention. A faint glimmer, barely visible, began to materialize in the distance. Her heart pounded as the image grew clearer, and she realized what she was seeing.
There, hovering above the lifeless bodies, was a ghostly figure. Its head was disproportionately large, with hollow, staring eyes that seemed to penetrate into Mo Rou's very soul. Its body, transparent and ethereal, drifted aimlessly, casting a spectral glow that added to the eeriness of the scene.
Mo Rou's eyes narrowed as she beheld the ghostly figure with the large head and transparent body. As a Daoist, her calling was clear; she was to confront and vanquish this otherworldly entity.

With a determined glint in her eye, Mo Rou reached into her robe, producing a set of talismans imbued with spiritual energy. She began to chant in an ancient Daoist dialect, her voice strong and resonant, filling the air with a sense of power and purpose.
The ghost let out an inhuman wail, its transparent form flickering as it charged toward her. Mo Rou's heart pounded in her chest, but her training and her calling steadied her nerves.
With a swift motion, she threw one of the talismans at the approaching spirit. A flash of light erupted upon contact, and the ghost recoiled, its form momentarily disrupted. But it was far from defeated, and it gathered itself, its eyes burning with otherworldly rage.
The battle that ensued was both ethereal and intense, a dance of spiritual energy and ancient techniques. Mo Rou's skill as a Daoist was put to the test as she maneuvered, chanted, and utilized her arsenal of spiritual tools. The ghost fought back with equal ferocity, its eerie wails echoing through the lifeless streets.
After much back and forth, Mo Rou was able to purify the ghost, but it was strange.
"Powerful ghost like him shouldn't be appearing, but most importantly, what the hell happened here? Where the fuck this ghost is coming from?" Mo Rou was frustrated as she kicked the walls beside her.
She looked around and only saw the dead bodies of people. Not even children were saved from this disaster
She wished to know where this ghost had come from and now where they were. If she could find them, then she would like to torture them, but she couldn't. Ghost doesn't feel pain.
Mo Rou walked around the city, and she saw some trembling children and adults. They were from the other side of the city, so they had been saved, and it's most or almost every person from the other side of the city was alive. They were trembling from the fear and might not in good at the mind level, but they at least were alive, which put Mo Rou at ease.
"Whole city didn't get annihilated." She sighed with relief and after she went to every corner of the city and found not a single sign of a ghost other than the first one she saw.
After she went back to her mansions, she asked for officials from the capital city and also provided food for these trembling people who couldn't even capable of moving. At least some of them were able to talk and started to walk, but for others, it might take some time.
Mo Rou spent three days before all the city people were able to function on their own without her support. These three days were stressful for her, and even now, she is under a lot of stress. She doesn't know when ghosts might attack the city again. She was alert all three days, but it took a lot of mental power, which was stressful.
She looked at herself in the mirror. She saw her face, once a radiant canvas of grace and elegance, now wearing a muted expression. Her eyes, which used to sparkle with a vivid luster, have dulled and seem distant, lost in thought. The corners of her mouth, once curled in a perpetual smile, have been drawn down into a subtle, weary line. A sense of weight seems to hang over her, reflected in her slightly stooped shoulders and the faint creases that have begun to etch themselves into her forehead.
Mo Rou moved towards the privacy of her dressing chamber, the lingering emotions of the day hanging heavily about her. With a gentle grace, she reached behind and unfastened the delicate clasp of her dress. The fabric, as soft and intricate as her own emotions, slid down her shoulders, falling away like a whispered secret. It pooled around her feet, leaving her standing in the soft glow of the room.
Mo Rou's feet glided across the polished wooden floor as she made her way to the bathroom, her every movement a study in controlled elegance. The ambient lighting of the hallway gave way to the soft, ethereal glow of the bathroom, where candles flickered and cast gentle shadows upon the marble surfaces. Her eyes, momentarily reflective, met her own gaze in the ornate mirror before she turned towards the claw-footed bathtub.

A surge of hot water began to cascade into the tub, and it sounded a comforting melody in the room's silence. Steam slowly began to rise, filling the air with the soothing aroma of her favorite bath oils as she adjusted the temperature to her liking.
Her movements were unhurried, each step and gesture imbued with a graceful intent. The bathwater swirled, the heat mixing with the fragrant oils, creating a sanctuary within the room. She watched the water's dance, her face reflecting a rare moment of reprieve, her thoughts momentarily quiet as she prepared for the embrace of the warm bath, a simple luxury that held the promise of solace.
Mo Rou stepped into the bathtub, her body welcomed by the warm water. She lowered herself into the bath, feeling the heat surround her, melting away the weariness of the day. With a bar of soap in hand, she began to wash herself.
She moved the soap over her arms, creating a soft lather that cleansed her skin. The water rippled around her as she glided the soap down her body, each stroke a gentle caress. Her hands followed the natural contours of her form, washing away not just the grime but also the invisible weight she had carried.
The soap's fragrance filled the room, mingling with the steam as she continued her methodical routine. Her hair, dampened by the water, clung to her shoulders as she focused on her task. Her face was serene, lost in the simple pleasure of the moment, a quiet testament to self-care and reflection.
Her movements were delicate, her gaze affirmatively honouring each of her curves. Slowly, she moved the soap over her body, until she reached the area of her legs and underarms. With gentle strokes, she shaved away any unwanted hair in those areas, leaving herself feeling smooth and refreshed. Finally, as the last drop of water ebbed away from the pool, Mo Rou felt renewed.
She patted herself dry with a soft towel before wrapping it around her body. Moving back into the bedroom, she went to the vanity to apply her favorite body lotion, rubbing it in until her skin glowed.
The lotion was thick and creamy, its scent wafting through the air and stirring something deep within her. The smoothness of the cream caressed her body like a second skin - one that was lighter and softer than before - and as she continued to rub it in, Mo Rou felt every ounce of tension slowly but surely dissipate away from her frame.
She took out a brush made of finest ivory set with diamonds in an intricate pattern that gleamed even in this faint light. With gentle strokes, she ran the bristles through her hair until it cascaded down past her shoulders in lustrous waves. Mo Rou smiled at herself in the mirror as if for the first time; marveling at how much more beautiful she now appeared
Her nightgown was made of the finest silk, rippling in a gentle caress as she put it on. She felt herself relax into the fabric, grateful for the reprieve from her day. The heat of the bath still lingered in her body, and with one last deep breath, Mo Rou could feel all her worries and stress evaporate away.
She decided to take this moment to further relax by indulging in some blissful self-pleasure. Her hands moved along her body with an intuitive knowledge as she pleasured herself to relieve any leftover tension that remained from the day.
With each stroke of her fingertips and movement of her hips, Mo Rou felt relieved and at peace once again; feeling completely free and liberated from all worldly cares. And when she finished she lay there forever contented by what had been done.
