Even with his movement speed, Diego didn't have the chance to react to that attack that appeared almost instantly. Jake had envisioned such a thing would happen eventually. So, the flames appeared, and doing that was only a matter of timing for him. In the end, the enemy's body was split in two.
"Dumbass… ignoring your original skills in favor of some suspicious and convenient buff," Jake said. "If you hadn't forgotten your ice skills completely, you would have been much more of a nuisance. Still, I guess you didn't have much time to train both of them… their synergy was horrible as well."

Jake clicked his tongue. That asshole used almost all of his resources before battle to make sure that Jake wouldn't get much if he ended up defeated. That kind of preparation seemed odd, considering that he was so sent on winning, but it didn't matter. Instead of checking the enemy's body, Jake looked at the wall and waited for those guys to attack him. It would be hard to defeat them, but he wouldn't go down without a fight and taking some of them with him as well.
Despite that, the shadows only began to disappear, and much to Jake's surprise, the machines around began to disappear as well… he couldn't believe how much mana was used to make all of that disappear… but the body of the enemy also was gone…
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Were they willing to use that much mana instead of fighting me? Or was within their plans to move eventually?" Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe they had something else in mind when they decided to do this…"
All possibilities seemed plausible. The enemies that underestimated Jake paid a high price for doing so, and since that kind of world could be accessed by others like him now, it would make sense for them to move eventually. There is also the chance that they just used Diego to measure his current strength… Regardless, Jake would stay there all day wondering about those if let that happen.
Once the machines disappeared, Jake finally saw some electric bats in the distance. It seemed that the base of the machines was right on the top of the dungeon… perhaps they were using those creatures to gather energy and power something up. Still, it was a shortcut that Jake wasn't willing to take and only made him hard to take his enemies seriously.

The mutated bats were really weird. It looked like their wings were made of electricity. They were the size of humans, and since their bodies were thin, they could fly pretty fast. Still, their faces looked as creepy as the other bats he saw.
"I was hoping to get some answers out of those guys. Maybe I should have used Master Thief to get the memories of that guy… no point in thinking about that anymore," Jake thought.
While Jake waited for his wolves to assemble, he wondered how Diego and the other criminals managed to reach that world so fast. Using normal means seemed unlikely since the guild masters were certain that no human had completed the quest for the crystals. There was the possibility that they received some help from the dungeon masters… which certainly would give them an edge over ordinary people who used the system. Once again, Jake was starting to think that the criminals were against the system and people like him. Most likely, the answer for that was within the memories of those bodies.
Jake had a feeling that he would have another dream soon. So, he decided to let the wolves guard the area while he slept. He has been suffering a lot of damage lately, so he had to use those chances between battles to recover as much as possible.

Just as Jake had predicted, he had another dream of king Judas. At that point in time, he was almost conscious while having such a dream. It was one of those annoying dreams where he knew that he was dreaming, but he couldn't do anything about it aside from moving along with whatever happened.
This time, king Judas was some massively long grasslands. It felt like he walked over for days while Jake watched all that. Still, he didn't feel like hurrying ahead. He was just walking with his head down and deep in thought. Eventually, he reached a camp ahead. It was a pretty simple one, but at the center of it, he could see a large building that resembled a small castle. Jake wondered why people were so fixated on those… did they have the urge to feel superior to others by using them?
Regardless, before king Judas could approach. A shadow came flying from that building at insane speeds and then attacked him by making several ice spears emerge from the ground. King Judas jumped backward and dodged them the very moment they emerged, and when he stopped, he saw a female magician flying above him, trying to conceal her face under a hood. It was one of those that ambushed him the previous time… by the look of things, Jake assumed that the guild masters failed at killing King Judas, but he also failed at dealing with them.
"It is time to pay the bill, Helena," King Judas said.
