Chapter 160 Impure Gaze
Josephine grabbed Lewis’ sleeve, and her eyes reddened as she saw his emotionless eyes.
Overwhelmed with emotions, she closed her eyes and shook her head.
“Really?” Lewis stared at her.
Josephine nodded. Her legs weakened, and she nestled into his arms. He said, “Your body and your
looks don’t match.”
Josephine’s face flushed. She grabbed his collar, putting almost all her weight on him. However, she
was not heavy, almost weightless in Lewis’ arms.
“No, don’t…” Josephine said.
“Don’t do what?”
“Want…”
“Do you want it or not?” Lewis said with a teasing tone.
Josephine shook her head in his embrace. Lewis lowered his gaze and saw her face burrowed in his
chest. Her neck and ears were flushed red.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. With a frantic motion, Josephine raised her head and cast a
quick glance at the door before turning to look at Lewis with a pleading gaze.
On the contrary, Lewis remained calm, and he withdrew his hand. Just as Josephine thought he was
releasing her, he suddenly turned her around. With quick reflexes, she grabbed the bookshelf and
prevented her face from crashing into it.
Josephine nervously turned to look at him and saw his impure gaze. He squeezed her waist as he
swiftly redirected his attention to the door and bellowed, “Wait!”
Conrad, who was outside, quickly withdrew his hand when he heard Lewis’ voice. Luckily he was slow
in his actions. He had almost opened the door and went inside. He sighed and was about to turn and
leave when he suddenly heard some sounds coming from inside.
Furrowing his brows in curiosity, he leaned closer to the door, straining his ears for any signs of
movement from within. However, he did not hear any sound after listening for a while. Doubt started to

Conrad hadn’t seen any other woman besides Josephine, but she was a
mute.
Conrad pondered the possibility of Lewis having a beauty locked away in his office. With his
imagination running wild, he rubbed his nose and pressed his ear onto the door to prove his theory.
Unfortunately, he did not hear anything. He sighed and took a step back, waiting silently.
Having waited for over half an hour without any sign of progress, Conrad reluctantly decided he
couldn’t wait any longer. He left the vicinity with the documents in his grasp and made his way
downstairs to the conference room. The high ranking officials were already in the meeting room. They
looked at Conrad as he entered the room, and Kiran asked, “Conrad, where’s Chairman Alvarez?”
Conrad replied with an unnatural expression, “Chairman Alvarez is a little busy right now. What about
having the meeting in the afternoon instead?”
Kiran furrowed his brows. Nobody else dared to speak up, and they looked at Kiran. Kiran remained
silent for a few seconds. He pushed his wire-frame glasses and kept his documents.” Since Chairman
Alvarez is busy, let’s wait for his notice.”
After speaking, he grabbed his documents and left the meeting room, and everyone followed. Conrad
sighed helplessly as he watched Kiran walk away.
Lewis, despite being the one who had scheduled the meeting, was preoccupied with his own.
amusement in his office and had completely neglected the appointment. As a result, everyone was left
waiting for an extended period, fostering the perception that Lewis was deliberately attempting to assert
his dominance over the new president. It was truly remarkable that Kiran was able to maintain his
composure and refrain from losing his temper in the face of this situation.
Meanwhile, back in the office, Josephine was sitting on Lewis’ chair. She was tidying up her clothes
with her head lowered. In the meantime, Lewis had walked back to the bookshelf and continued to look
at his documents. Earlier, they went for it from the bookshelf to the chair, then to the table, but it was as
if nothing had happened even when they were at it for so long. Lewis’ shirt remained pristine, devoid of
the slightest hint of wrinkle.
Josephine stared at his back for a while before she finished tidying up. Using the chair for support, she
attempted to rise to her feet but found her legs weak, and she subsequently collapsed back onto the
seat. A wave of pain emanated from her lower abdomen again, and she instinctively pressed her hands
against it, seeking relief.
Lewis took a few documents and prepared to leave. He looked back at Josephine and said, When you
exit this room, turn right, and you’ll see your workstation.”
Josephine nodded. Her face was pale. His roughness moments ago had left a lasting impression.
Observing his present appearance, impeccably dressed in a suit and devoid of desire, it seemed
unfathomable that he could unleash such wildness during their sexcapade from earlier. Pleasure
eluded Josephine; instead, it felt as if he sought to extinguish her very existence, leaving her on the
brink of death each time.
Lewis paused for a moment before leaving with his documents. Right after he closed the door,
Josephine turned to jelly. Luckily, the chair was big enough to keep her from sliding onto the floor.

After Lewis left the office, he saw Conrad approaching. Conrad greeted, “Mr. Alvarez.”
His gaze lingered on Lewis’ body, but he noticed no difference. Lewis paused his steps. He turned his
head and gave him a glance. Conrad immediately said, “I’ve dismissed them. Why don’t we change the
meeting to tomorrow?”
Lewis walked toward the elevator and said, “I want it done today. Assemble them for a meeting now.”
Conrad was speechless, and he felt like killing himself. He received a directive to summon them back
again when he had just dismissed them. The prospect of facing their potential anger and curses
loomed, yet he could do nothing except carry out Lewis’ order.
As the high-ranking officials entered the meeting room, a palpable grudge lingered in the air,
accompanied by a profound sense of resentment. However, they could only hold their frustration in as
they dared not express it openly.
Lewis stood calmly at the main seat and glanced at Kiran as if nothing concerned him. Kiran sat on the
seat to Lewis’ left. Kiran’s glasses obscured his eyes, and no expression could be seen on his face.
“A lot has happened in the company these few days. I’m sure everyone here knows the purpose of this
meeting, which is to introduce the new president of Alvarez Corp. The new President Alvarez, please

The word “new” was added cleverly. Lewis had once commanded immense power during his tenure as
the president, but with Kiran taking on the same role, it became evident that Kiran’s influence did not
match that of Lewis.
In the case of Robert, he was not proactive when he was the chairman, particularly after witnessing
Lewis’ bold decisions during his presidency. The former was laid-back and rarely interfered in Lewis’
decisions, believing that Lewis could never turn the tides with just the meager amount of shares that he
had. No one would have thought that Lewis would replace him as the chairman.
Kiran rose to his feet and presented himself in a poised manner. In addition to introducing himself, he
outlined the company’s growth strategy and the contingency plan. It was evident that Kiran possessed
capability and displayed a commendable temperament.
Lewis leaned lazily against his seat’s backrest, with his feet crossed over each other, observing Kiran
with ambiguous intentions as Kiran gave his speech. The meeting lasted for quite a while and only
ended around six in the evening.
Josephine sat in the office next to Lewis’ office all day. All the equipment and even the chair in this
office were new. However, there were no documents or reading materials, so she leaned over the table
and took a nap. Suddenly, she felt someone touching her head. Josephine woke up groggily and saw
Lewis standing in front of her as she lifted her head. Josephine rubbed her eyes and stood up
immediately.
Lewis said, “We’re going back to Alvarez Manor today.”
Josephine’s complexion changed for a moment. She felt resistant to the idea of returning to Alvarez
Manor. However, Lewis did not offer her a choice. He said this and left without turning back. Josephine
could only hurriedly follow after him.
Josephine got into the car and fastened her seatbelt. She turned her head and noticed Lewis staring at
her with his jet-black eyes, focused explicitly on her neck. Josephine subconsciously touched her neck
and felt a sharp pain. It was likely caused by him biting her earlier. She pursed her lips and pulled up
her collar.
Lewis suddenly asked, “You did not take your medication lately?”
