Chapter 0646 Scott wondered why did it suddenly feel so chilly? Paul's presence was entirely unexpected. His grandfather, Bradley Jefferson, and Samuel had been close friends in their youth. They had built their fortunes side by side before ultimately choosing separate paths -one in business, the other in politics.
Both men achieved the heights of their respective fields. Over the years, the Jeffersons and the Landons remained in contact. Nonetheless, the Landons, who were famously low-profile, didn't often host gatherings.
Upon receiving an invitation from the Landons, Felix took it seriously and had planned to attend personally. But a sudden asthma attack forced him into the hospital, leaving the task to his eldest, Alex.
Even so, as a businessman, Alex rarely mingled with the Landons. Since they were known to protect their reputation, they might not have wanted a businessman as their guest.

In the end, the responsibility reverted back to Paul, who was ultimately the best fit among the Jeffersons. Not to mention, he personally knew Scott.
When Alex brought up this arrangement, he half-expected Paul to refuse. After all, Paul rarely attended social functions outside of academic conferences, spending most of his timmersed in research and writing papers. The idea of him agreeing to a social event seemed laughable.
But to everyone's surprise, Paul readily agreed.
"Wait... you agreed?" His brother's voice sounded incredulous.
Paul nodded while suppressing a smirk. “Yeah, and close your mouth before you catch flies, Alex." "Oh, right!" His brother quickly shut his mouth but continued to look at him like he'd seen a ghost. Later, when he turned to Susan, he whispered, “Mom, I think something's wrong with Paul." Susan raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Maybe you should have someone take a look at him-like a priest or something." "For what?" "I think he's possessed. I'm serious." Susan only rolled her eyes.
When his mother asked Paul about it, he brushed it off with a simple, “I just wanted to see for myself..." He wanted to see if she was on the guest list, too.
Back at Miranda's side, she'd managed to get away with calling Paul "Dr. Jefferson” instead of "Uncle Paul ". However, when it cto Sam, calling him “Uncle Sam” felt even stranger.
Both Sebastian and Madison shared her discomfort. During the lab's construction, they'd grown familiar with Sam, referring to him casually as "Mr. Cooper".

Once Scott finished the introductions, he turned to the three of them with a grin. "So, you all have your glasses, right? Perfect. Let's go ahead and offer your uncles here a quick toast."
He then looked back at the others at the table. "Now, they're all students, so let's skip the alcohol we don't want to set a bad example, right? They'll toast with what they're drinking, and let's not make a fuss."
One of the middle-aged men immediately laughed and said, "Who'd expect the future pillars of our country to drink? Soft drinks are just fine; it's the thought that counts. This is a family gathering, after all. There's no need for formalities." "Exactly!" another chimed in.
Miranda and Madison exchanged a glance, then followed Sebastian as they moved around the table to greet everyone with a toast. When Miranda reached Paul, she found herself unable to refer to him as Uncle Paul” as suggested and instead greeted him with a simple "Dr. Jefferson". She thought it was polite enough. However, Paul's expression turned somewhat sour. As he raised his glass, he couldn't help but glance pointedly at Scott.
Scott simply raised an eyebrow in confusion.
