"I'm telling you, I'm not mad, really, I'm not." Sherilyn tried to calm things down, hoping to steer clear of any more trouble.
"Really?" Gilbert gazed into her makeup-free face, searching for any hint of deceit in her expression, but found none. His past experiences, however, left him feeling uneasy. He took her hand in his, "Cwith me, then." "Why should I?" Sherilyn's eyes widened as she pulled her hand away, shaking her head in resistance. "You should just go take care of her. I'm fine here watching the movie. It's actually really good." "Sherilyn..." "Can't you just be reasonable for once?" Sherilyn was visibly annoyed now. "First, you bail onbefore the movie ends, and now you're trying to stopfrom watching the rest? I really like this movie." "Sherilyn..." Gilbert tried again, but she turned her head away, refusing to look at him or engage any further.
Gilbert stared at her silently for a few seconds before sighing in resignation, "Fine, keep watching." He checked his watch, trying to gauge the time.

Frowning, Gilbert stood up and left the theater. At the door, he paused to send Sherilyn a text.
[Sherilyn, if I can make it back in time, I'll cpick you up. If you leave before I get back, just givea call, okay?] He sent the message without expecting an immediate reply, considering she was still engrossed in the movie. Gilbert sighed softly and decided to let it be for now. She would see the message eventually after the movie.
He then hurried off to the hospital.
Upon arriving, he found Caroline had already been admitted to a room and was awake.
"Gilbert, you're here." Caroline looked a bit pale and weak as she rested against the pillow. "Sorry to make you call this way. It's nothing serious, just skipped lunch for a shoot and got a bit of low blood sugar." She gestured towards the IV bag, "A couple of these and I'll be fine." She then lightly scolded her manager and assistant for overreacting.
"They're just worried about you," Gilbert said as he pulled up a chair next to her bed. "But still, I have to say, with all the wedding planning keeping you busy, why push yourself so hard at work?" Caroline chuckled, "Well, doing well in my work is important." She looked past him, a hint of disappointment in her eyes, "Francis didn't come?" Though Gilbert had his grievances with his older brother, he wouldn't criticize him in front of others.
"I asked them not to tell Francis yet. I wanted to check on you first so as not to worry him unnecessarily." "I see." Caroline believed him. "That was thoughtful of you. Francis hasn't been in the best health himself." "Yes." Gilbert nodded, his phone buzzing in his pocket.

Francis nodded at Gilbert, his distinguished and refined.

Gilbert met Francis' gaze squarely, his question cutting, "Cara mentioned you've been out since the afternoon. Can you tellwhat you've been so busy with lately?" X
