Chapter 29: Value To Society (3)
POV: Azrail Diggory
I let my words sink into the kid's head, he truly was a monster in the aspect of having high energy levels, but he couldn't utilize them at all.
It was painfully obvious his training was taught poorly; his talent should have landed him in a better position than the slums. It seemed like the kid went unnoticed, which is a problem.
I really didn't want to do this after his mother just died, but it was an order given to me.
The kid was still putting up a fight, I was still holding his head down into the ground and was not letting go of it. He attempted to use his fire magic, but failed since I used air magic to suppress them completely.
If there is no air around a fire, the fire will die. Firefighters actually specialized in air magic rather than water.
After an entire minute of trying to fight out of my grip the kid started to break down into tears once again. It seemed his anger has subsided for now and has gone back to sadness.
"JUST WHY DAMN IT? WHY CAN'T I HAVE ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD! I NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG; IT WAS I WHO WAS WRONGED!" The kid screamed out, it truly hurt my soul when hearing this kid speak.
He looked to be only a few years younger than me, the kid didn't deserve this at all.
The pain he must be feeling is immeasurable, who knows how long it will take for him to overcome this. I wondered what this kid will become in the future as well. Will he help the world or go against it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt" Go to your mother kid, be by her side and wait till the police get here." I lifted my hand off the kids' head and let him go over to his mother.
I didn't know if this was the right choice or not, but it was the best I could think of. If it were me in his shoes, I'd have no clue on how'd I feel or do in this situation.
The kid slowly got up; his red tearing face was matching his red hair. He walked past me not batting an eye and slowly made his way to his mother.
I could hear him whispering to himself with a crackly voice but couldn't make out the words. There was no need to spy on the kid, I left him alone for the meantime and walked over to the gang members who were still implanted into the ground.
I took a comfy seat one of their backs and began to ask the question that contained my curiosity.
"So why you'd guys kill that kid's mother in front of his own very eyes? By the way, you all know he's a prodigy, so your lives are over."
My question was meant with silence, I wasn't all that surprised and just decided to wait here on this man's back.
After a couple of minutes the police finally arrived, they were pretty late since I was told 5 minutes, but whatever.
One of the officers walked over to me and gave me a salute. I nodded my head to her and stopped releasing my aura on the men. I then nodded my head to the officer and started to walk off.
"Wait sir! You need to come with us for questioning since you are a witness of the scene that took place here." I looked back to the officer and gave her a questioning look.
"I'm with the VIA, do I really need to do this?" I asked the officer with the nicest voice I could pull off.
"Yes sir, I'm detective Laura and I was ordered to work on this case. We know your standing with the VIA, but we would still like you to come down to our station for questioning."
"Is this an order?"
"Yes sir." Laura said with a smile which don't not sit well with me at all.
'This is really bad, if they end up questioning that kid my name might end up being brought up in a negative light. FUCK, I shouldn't have listened to those damn orders. ' I started to get stressed out and think of anything to get out of this predicament.
'Do I kill everyone here? There shouldn't be cameras in the slums because of how expensive they are so no one really knows I'm involved besides my instructor and these people. ' I had this dark thought and instinctively put my hands in my pockets where both of my daggers were.
"Kill those emotions idiot, I can't even see what's going on, but I can tell it's getting to you. Simply follow the lady and do what she tells you for now." My instructor said through the earpiece.
His words alone pissed me off to the extreme. I didn't like going to a police station especially when I know I'm guilty of something.
"Alright, who's taking me to the police station? I don't know where it is."
"Don't worry simply follow me to my cruiser, another detective will be taking care of that poor child."
With that Laura started to walk and I followed behind her.
I had started to hope my instructor would give me any more information, but nothing came during the little walk.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmI was starting to get more and more worked up. This wasn't a good sign at all, I decided to calm my breathing down and clear my head of all thoughts. My mind was simply blank, I needed to rewire my brain on the fly so that my emotions wouldn't show at all.
We arrived at her police car which was a simple blacked out 2 door car. Even her windows were tinted making sure you couldn't see in.
We both got in the car and Laura started to drive to the police station.
After a couple of minutes of silence Laura decided to engage in some small talk.
"I never caught your name by the way, what should I call you?"
"Azrail.'
"Oh that's a pretty unique name, I've never heard of anyone having the same name as you Azrail. You look pretty young to, how old are you?"
"15." I kept my answers plainly short since this is how I was when being questioned. I know these were basic questions, but they can create other topics to talk about which I didn't want.
"Did you see what happened to that kid at all? We received calls saying there was a shooting, but a VIA agent to care of it. That's why were so late to the scene."
"No, I arrived after the crime was committed. I only detained the men since they were about to kill the kid."
"I see, thank you so much for your help. Our police force is extremely understaffed, so crime is quite rampant here which leads to these criminals acting so bold. Gang violence has also increased because of our lack of officers."
"Have you filed a complaint to the government?"
"We have, but they are busy with way too many things right now. Unless more people start to die, the government won't see this as an important issue."
'....Even here huh, seems like the weak will always get to suffer..'
