Chapter 431
As Beatrix rushed to the front of the Maserati and saw Mackenzie’s sharp
gaze, she quickly covered her mouth and wondered if she had done
something wrong again. Did Emmanuel still not know Mackenzie’s true
identity?
Emmanuel wasn’t as foolish as they thought. He immediately chuckled and
said, “Actually, I should have figured it out long ago. When my mother and I
went to apply for a job at Terence Group, we got hired easily. It turns out
we’re family!”
Beatrix stuck out her tongue at him. She did not praise him for guessing the
truth but instead teased him. “You dummy, you only realized it now! You
almost drove me crazy!”
Mackenzie no longer concealed it and snorted coldly. “Now that you know I’m
not inferior to Claudette, do you still want to find other rich and beautiful
women outside?”
As soon as she mentioned Claudette, the atmosphere changed.
Emmanuel immediately became serious and said, “Ms. Quillen, you can

Mackenzie finally found Emmanuel today and even stood up for him
forcefully, so she was originally quite happy. However, she didn’t expect that
her casual teasing would cause him to change his attitude so suddenly.
As the CEO of Terence Group, when had it become his turn to lecture her with
such a stern expression?
You’re repaying kindness with enmity!
Emmanuel didn’t care about Mackenzie’s icy expression and continued
sternly, “Claudette and I have never done anything to wrong you, and she’s
already dead. Please stop saying such things! If you think I wanted to be with
you for the money, I’ll leave now!”
After speaking, he opened the car door and prepared to get out.
“Hey, Emmanuel! Don’t go!”
Beatrix was really angered by how stupid Emmanuel was and quickly
stretched out her hands to stop him. Standing up for her sister, Beatrix said.
“Do you have no conscience? Do you know how much effort and resources
Mackenzie spent to find you? She just stood up for you, and now you want to
turn your back on her because of a joke?”
Only then did Emmanuel pause and realize that Mackenzie’s remark might
have been just a joke, and he was being too sensitive.
However, when he looked at Mackenzie, she had already angrily turned away.
She knew why he was angry, but she didn’t mean any harm with her words.
He was so detestable and she didn’t want to pay attention to him anymore.
“Ms. Quillen, you can joke about anything, but please don’t disrespect
Claudette anymore. She’s already sacrificed herself for me. Can you please
stop insulting her?”
Emmanuel was still a man, and he didn’t want to go through all the trouble of
making amends with Mackenzie only to have a fallout again so quickly. So, he
expressed his request.
In the next moment, he felt that he had indeed been a bit sensitive and
decided to apologize to her.
“I’m sorry-”
“Hmph! I’m sorry!”

-Afterward, the atmosphere changed for the second time.
Emmanuel smiled. “It’s okay!”
Mackenzie also snorted coldly but secretly smiled!
She understood how relationships worked now. It could easily make people
cry or laugh.
“Mackenzie, I’ll drive you back then!”
“Yeah, I’m a bit hungry. I want you to make me lemon butter garlic salmon!”
“All right, I also want to eat with you!”
Seeing the couple, who were arguing one moment and then apologizing and
smiling at each other the next, Beatrix became displeased!
“Dear lord, can you two stop it? Your public display of affection caught me off
guard and I’m left blinded by your actions. Regardless, today I’m determined
to go to your house and mooch a meal!”
However, her sister and brother-in-law didn’t seem to be listening to what
she said, as if she was irrelevant!
Beatrix let out a sigh after watching the two of them exchanging glances in
the rearview mirror. Why did she bring this upon herself? Why did she have to
ride in this car? She felt like such a third wheel…
