Somehow, Frederick still felt that something was off.

Knowing his identity and status, there were just too many people who wanted to have ssort of relationship with him. They would do anything to get close to him, and Alicia understood that well.

However, she would never eavesdrop on most of his things, especially those that involved his work unless he talked about it himself. Alicia knew that they were a couple, but she also understood that they were still individual beings. She allowed them to have their own personal space. Not only was it because she had her limits and didn't want to be overbearing, more importantly, she wanted to leave smystery between them. Being too transparent with each other might make them lose attraction to each other.

She wouldn't ask further if he didn't want to say anything. She just held his arm, tilted her head, and said, "Should I cup with more plans to help you out with your social relations? "Jeremy, you're back? You must be tired. I've prepared the hot water! Hurry up and change before you rest!" "I've made sravioli. I'm just waiting for you to cback to cook them!" Lindsay took Jeremy's luggage and brought it to the side. Then, she turned around to get him a glass of hot water. However, Jeremy did not accept the water even after a long time. Lindsey sighed and put down the glass. She took the bag from the side and said pitifully, "Thank you for helpingout at my lowest point! Even if I'm not a good person, I still know how to be grateful! Although I hate that family, I still have a pretty decent sister! If you were in my position, being abused and humiliated in this nightmare for so many years, perhaps you would be even more cruel than me! Jeremy, I don't expect you to understand and accept me. However, I beg you, please don't hateI don't want to live in the dark either. You're all I have now!" Lindsey said as her eyes welled with tears. She lowered her head and moved to the side. Then, Jeremy held her wrist.

"Didn't you... make ravioli? I'm hungry too!" At that moment, Lindsay smiled.

"I'll cook it right away. Hurry up and change; take a shower. They will be ready when you cout!" She turned around and tried her best to take his luggage upstairs. Seeing that she was struggling, Jeremy felt touched for a moment and reached out.

When he cdown, steaming hot ravioli was already on the table. On the other hand, Lindsay was still busy in the kitchen. She brought out sbread and went to get the soup She had an apron on and looked very much like wife material.

Meanwhile, Jeremy kept having a thought in his mind.

It would've been great if the person by his side now was Alicia! At first, he felt guilty about still having feelings for her, however now that he knew so much about how things turned out with Alicia, it was impossible to say that he didn't resent Lindsay. However, he didn't hate her completely either! For the past few years, even until now, he couldn't deny that this woman was indeed quite nice to him. At least, she proved her sincerity to him.

Therefore, it was difficult to tell whether he pitied her or just couldn't get over Lindsay.

Nevertheless, Jeremy still felt very grateful as he ate the ravioli. He felt unfamiliar and alone in this city! At the moment, two lonely, strange but familiar hearts were warming each other up. The both of them ate this hearty meal peacefully. Lindsay set down her cutleries and got smore soup for him. Then she said, "Did everything go smoothly for you this trip? I still have smoney from selling the stocks, if you need it..."
