Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 105

The banquet hall fell silent as soon as Jane Smith uttered those words.

No one had expected Jane, who was widely known as a refined young lady of the Smith family to be so

unreasonable.

Although it was disrespectful for Rachel Grey to present a fake as a gift at Old Mr. Smith’s birthday

banquet, it was not to the extent of kneeling and apologizing in public.

In the silence, Rachel suddenly chuckled. Her voice was ice–cold. “But what if it’s authentic?”

Jane turned around and met Rachel’s unfeeling eyes. A chill instantly rose from the bottom of her feet,

and she forgot to answer Rachel for a moment.

Rachel patiently repeated the question. “What if it’s authentic?”

Jane suddenly came back to her senses. She cleared her throat and straightened her back. “If it’s

authentic, I’ll kneel and apologize to you.”

“Jane Smith!” Mrs. Smith snapped.

“Mom, it’s fine. Do you really think she can afford 1.91 million dollars?” Jane raised her chin slightly and

looked at Rachel triumphantly.

Jane was certain that Rachel’s pocket watch was a fake.

“You’d better keep your word.”

Upon hearing Rachel Grey’s words, Jane’s body tensed, and fear arose in her heart momentarily.

But how could she take back her words? What’s done was done.

Moreover, that was 1.91 million dollars. Jane did not believe that Rachel could afford it at all.

Jane wanted to see how Rachel would continue acting all arrogantly after the result of the appraisal

was out.

There was some commotion within the crowds as many seemed to be discussing amongst themselves.

“But we’re not experts in this field. We wouldn’t dare make conclusions on our own.”

“Is there anyone familiar with such things here?”

Silence ensued as soon as the man finished speaking.

At the end of the day, they were just spectators. There was no need to offend anyone by standing out.

Mr. Lewis looked at Rachel with a complicated expression. Then, he took a step forward and said

respectfully, “I’ve met the antiquarian, Mr. Griffin, a few times. Why don’t I call him and invite him over?

He has a certain level of authority in the antique dealing market. I believe the conclusion he gives will

convince everyone. What do you think?”

Old Mr. Smith, who had been silent all this while, suddenly said, “Then I’ll have to trouble Mr. Lewis.

Please invite him over.”

Meanwhile, something was happening at the Glamour Pavilion.

Mr. Griffin sat cross–legged on the couch. He picked up a teacup and glanced at the man sitting

opposite him. “I wonder what business Mr. Jones has with me?”

David Jones looked up at Mr. Griffin, and the corners of his mouth curled into a faint smile that revealed

a hint of mystery. “I heard Mr. Griffin has some connections with the Johnson family in Seaxas.”

Upon hearing his words, Mr. Griffin’s eyes darkened. His gaze was like a sharp ice blade that stabbed

straight at David. “Mr. Jones, I don’t know the reason for your engagement with the Johnson family, but

I’ll be straightforward with you… You can’t touch the Johnson family!”

Mr. Griffin’s tone was calm, but there was a certain aggression felt in his words.

“You’ve misunderstood me, Mr. Griffin,” David explained calmly. “I’d like to visit you in a few days, but I

don’t know what Mr. Griffin’s likes are, so I specially came this time.”

Mr. Griffin narrowed his eyes and stared at the man in front of him.

At this moment, Mr. Griffin’s assistant entered the room and handed him the phone. “Mr. Griffin, there is

a call from someone named Mr. Lewis looking for you.”

Mr. Griffin glanced at his assistant. Then he picked up the phone and got up. When he spoke again, he

returned to his usual kind tone. “Bernard, I heard you’re looking for me?”

Mr. Lewis, who was on the other end of the phone, told him everything about what happened at the

Smith’s residence. Mr. Griffin’s eyes turned cold. “You’re talking about… Jehan Cremsdorff’s Gold,

Enamel, and Diamond–set Verge Watch?”

That pocket watch was unique to Glamour Pavilion.

Even fakes could not be easily found on the market.

However, the employees at Glamour Pavilion said that it had fallen into the hands of Rachel, so how

did the pocket watch appear in the Smith family?

Mr. Lewis said, “The Smiths insisted that the gift was a fake. Although it had nothing to do with me, I

can’t bear to see a little girl forced to kneel and apologize. That’s why I’ve come to ask for your help. I

want you to help uphold justice.”

Mr. Griffin pondered for a moment. “Alright, give me a moment.”

With that, Mr. Griffin hung up the phone and turned to look at David. “Mr. Jones, I’m really

sorry. My friend is in need of my help. Please excuse me for now.”

“Is Mr. Griffin heading to the Smith family?” David stood up as well.

Mr. Griffin replied, “Yes.”

“I’m going over too. Why don’t I send you there?”

“Alright, thank you,” Mr. Griffin replied.
