Chapter 1243

The assistant locked eyes with Quincy's silent but clearly angry gaze, and for a moment, he felt completely

stuck. Without saying another word, he quickly took the box and left the way he had come. Lydia glanced at

Quincy, a bit hesitant. "Are you upset?"

"No." Quincy paused, noticing the concern in her eyes, and added, "You don't need to tiptoe around me. If you

have something to say, just say it. | won't be mad."

Still, he didn't offer any explanation for what had just happened. After the auction, Lydia noticed him glance back

over his shoulder, but she couldn't tell if he was looking at Eugene or not. Something about the tension between

the two men made her feel like there was more going on than she understood.

As the yacht had set sail at the start of the auction, all the guests were expected to spend the night on board.

The organizers had thoughtfully arranged private rooms for everyone. Lydia and Quincy were assigned rooms as

well-two separate ones, with a significant distance between them.

Lydia took it in stride, but Quincy didn't feel comfortable leaving her alone. He cautioned her not to open the

door for anyone and advised her to stay in her room until morning. He even went on about the safety measures,

making sure she understood everything. As they walked down the hall, Lydia suddenly stopped and gave him a

pointed look. "If you're so worried, why don't you just stay in my room? We're married, aren't we? It's not like it

matters at this point."

Quincy cleared his throat, a faint blush creeping up to his ears. "That's... not a good idea."

"Why not?"

"I'm afraid... | might not be able to control myself," he muttered, avoiding her eyes. "It's just... you're in a

vulnerable state right now."

Lydia had only been teasing him, trying to lighten the mood. Ever since she had gotten pregnant, Quincy had

been overly cautious, and she thought a bit of humor might help him relax. But his unexpected response left her

stunned.

It took her a few seconds to process, and when she did, her face turned bright red. "I can't believe you just said

that! You idiot! Go sleep by yourself!" she stammered, before dashing off.

Quincy was about to chase after her, but he got blocked by someone who had dropped a tray of items. He

watched helplessly as she disappeared out of sight.

Lydia, now flustered and trying to

cool off, found herself wandering to the other side of the deck. The night air was cool, the breeze carrying the

salty scent of the sea as it brushed her face. en

She stopped, breathless and flushed, finally calming down a bit. But as she looked around, she realized she

didn't know where she had ended up.

The area was deserted, save for a few empty private rooms scattered along the corridor. As she turned to retrace

her steps, she bumped into a waiter. They exchanged a brief glance, and before she could say anything, the man

pulled out a small spray bottle and lightly misted her face.

Lydia immediately felt dizzy, her

vision blurring. Her body went limp, and the waiter quickly caught her before she could fall. Wiping the

dragged her into one of the nearby rooms.

Moments later, the waiter sought out Eugene's assistant.

"The job is done," the waiter said. The assistant nodded and handed him a card. "There's no password. The

remaining fifty thousand is in the account. Take it and leave."

The waiter's eyes lit up, and without hesitation, he took the card and left.

The assistant then found Eugene and whispered the news in his ear. Eugene stood up abruptly from the table in

the middle of the game.

"Apologies, | need to step away," Eugene said.

"Where are you going, Mr. Ford?"

someone asked, sounding surprised. "We haven't even started the real gyet! You've won so many chips and

you're just going to leave them behind?" someone called out, surprised.

Eugene didn't look back. He left the chips behind, letting someone else claim his winnings as he disappeared

from the gathering.
