Chapter 1369
"Right," Lydia suddenly stopped in her tracks. "I need to check out."
"No need for that. | booked last night's room under my name, so we can head straight to the hospital. I'll take
care of everything else," Eugene quickly interrupted her.
Just as they were leaving, Quincy returned. He was holding breakfast from a popular spot that he had waited half
an hour in line for. But it didn't matter. If Lydia liked it, he would gladly wait even longer. "Excuse me, sir," the
receptionist suddenly called out to him.
She looked at Quincy with sympathy, almost as if he were a tragic character. Here he was, up early to buy
breakfast, only to find his girlfriend with another man.

Unable to resist, she said, "Your girlfriend has already left. Would you like to check out?"
"Uh, yeah, let's just check out," Quincy replied, startled.
So, Lydia had woken up. She must have slipped away quietly, still unsure of how to face him. It might be best to
let them both cool off for a while.
After checking out, Quincy left the hotel, completely unaware that he had been replaced by someone else.
Eugene took Lydia to the hospital for a basic check-up, and the results were clear that she was perfectly healthy.
Yet, she remained unhappy, tears streaming down her face.
"Is it really that hard for you to accept that we slept together? Do you just despise me?" Eugene asked on the
way home, his eyes also glistening with unshed tears.
Just thinking about Lydia and
Quincy together filled him with a mix of sadness and anger. In his heart he had already considered Lydia is wife.
What Quincy did felt like he was sleeping with his own wife.
"No, | don't despise you. | just can't accept this situation. In my heart, | only see you as a friend," Lydia replied,
feeling conflicted about having crossed that line with a friend. Eugene hated hearing her refer to him as just a
friend. He reached for her hand, but she instinctively pulled away, every fiber of her being rejecting his touch.
"But it's too late now. | have to take responsibility. Marry me, Lydia. We know each other well, and your parents
like me. My parents like you too. We'd be a perfect match." Eugene seized the moment to propose, eager to
solidify their relationship. Even if Lydia found out the truth about what happened, would she still want to leave
him?

And even if she did, he wouldn't
agree to it. Under current marriage laws, if one party disagreed, they could withdraw the divorce

application at any time. Once he had Lydia, there was no way he would let her go.
Lydia shook her head. "I've already told you that | don't want to get married right now."
"But that was then and this is now. We did everything last night. If we don't get married, doesn't that makea
scoundrel?"
"But Eugene, in this day and age, just because we had a physical relationship.doesn't mean we have to get
married. We made a mistake once and we can't make another. | can't just pretend it's fine," Lydia insisted,
clearly understanding the implications.
