Crushed Affections Chapter 153

Chapter 153 His Ramblings

After dropping Lia off at home, Bella stayed with her until she was calm and sound asleep. Only then did she feel

relieved enough to leave.

It was already late, and to make matters worse, a thunderstorm had rolled in. The windshield wipers worked

tirelessly, but the heavy rain still made it hard to see

Bella was worried about getting into an accident, so she drove slowly, sticking to the side of the road.

The rain poured harder, and thunder roared. Eventually, she had to pull over. She decided to wait until the storm

eased up. She had always been afraid of thunder, but it wasn't so bad if she was at home. Now, she felt

completely vulnerable out here.

About half an hour passed, but the rain showed no signs of letting up. The thunderclaps grew louder and more

frequent, with lightning flashing across the sky like the prelude to sgreat disaster.

Bella's anxiety grew. She turned the music up in the car, finding a small sense of comfort in the confined space..

Suddenly, a car stopped in front of her. The rain was so heavy that she couldn't make out much and thought it

might be the police, checking for illegally parked cars.

She was about to start driving again when her door swung open.

It was Dominic!

In just a few steps, he was soaked through. He urged her, "Move over!"

Bella didn't even have the tto ask how he found her. She quickly slid over to the passenger seat, her small

frmaking it easy.

Leaving his own car behind, Dominic drove her car straight to Miller Manor. Only once they were inside did she

ask, "How did you know where | was?"

He stared at her like she had asked something ridiculous.

"Your car has a tracker. | saw you parked there for ages and figured you were too scared to keep driving. Did

something happen with Lia? You were at her place so late... Did you even check the weather?" Looking at him,

Bella couldn't help but smile. "She's fine. She had a fight with Leonard, but everything's settled now. You're

drenched... You should change."

Unusually talkative, Dominic kept grumbling, "Next time, pay attention to the weather. |

won't always be around to help you out. Honestly, how have you survived this long being so clueless?"

It suddenly hit Bella. Was this his way of saying goodbye?

Of course... He was leaving for overseas soon. Even though he promised he would cback, who knew what

would happen?

Sensing her silence, Dominic glanced back at her. "What? Upset that I'm lecturing you?"

She forced a smile as she replied, "No, I'm learning my lesson. Go ahead, keep scolding me."

Dominic sighed and headed back to his room to change. Bella didn't leave.

She stood at his door because she was not ready to let go of the moment. She hadn't even

little thanked him properly yet. As long as he was still here, she wanted to hold on to every moment because she

didn't want any regrets when she looked back later.

After changing, Dominic cout of his walk-in closet. He paused as he was surprised to see her still there.

"Anything else?"

She flashed him a bright smile, her pearly teeth showing a hint of playfulness. "Thanks for tonight. | don't know

when | would've made it hwithout you. When exactly are you leaving?" Dominic slowly took a deep breath

and replied, "Tomorrow night."

Tomorrow... So soon... It was less than 24 hours...

Bella lowered her head, unsure of what to say. She wanted to see him off, but somehow, the

words wouldn't come..

It was as if he could read her mind. "Don't bother. The Yates family has a private jet here. Do you... have

anything else that you want to say?"

Bella shook her head. She couldn't think of anything, but at the stime, she couldn't stand the idea of saying

nothing at all.

After tonight, he might be gone by the tshe got hfrom work tomorrow.
