Chapter 85: The Plague Spreads in the Heavenly Sky KingdomChapter 85: The Plague Spreads in the Heavenly Sky Kingdom
After the news about the Azure Sky gathered more and more people at the borders of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom. The entire Flying Sword Sect was worried as they readied themselves for war to break out, but in the end… Nothing happened and both forces were stuck in a stalemate, both unwilling to make the first move.
As the stalemate continued, time in the Flying Sword Sect passed by quietly with Xuan Hao training both Qing Yi and Chu Yang in all kinds of techniques, while simultaneously learning as much as he possibly could from all sorts of combat and movement techniques in case, he would ever need it at some point in the future.
Like this, one month quietly passed without anything of interest happening other than the continued spread of the plague.
The plague had continued to spread and even with both the Flying Sword Sect, the other sects and the Heavenly Sky Kingdoms help, it could only be slowed down.
There had even been cases of someone in the Foundation Establishment Realm dying to the plague, causing all the sects and the Heavenly Sky Kingdom to start panicking. The plague no longer affected only normal mortals, but cultivators as well!
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe Flying Sword Sect had a few people with the healer profession and all of them were currently working overtime together with the alchemist of the Alchemy Hall to try and find a solution to the plague that kept getting worse and worse with each passing day, it was only a moment till it would truly start to affect the stronger cultivators!
At least that was what some doomsday callers said, after all, no matter how strong the plague was, a Nascent Soul cultivator could just give up his body if things came to it and exist purely in a soul form.
If the plague could truly infect the soul and kill Nascent Soul Realm cultivators, the Sky Empire would most likely send people over to investigate as something like that would be quite troubling even for a big empire like the Sky Empire!
"So, you want me to help investigate the source of the plague…?" At the same time that most of the Flying Sword Sect was in a state of unrest due to the recent plague news, Xuan Hao stood directly in front of the Sect Master and asked with a slightly raised eyebrow and a suspicious look on his face.
Over the past month, Xuan Hao had long since disclosed his cultivation realm to the Sect Master Feng Chen and to say he was surprised was an understatement. The look he gave him when he told him what his cultivation realm was honestly quite scary…
In the end, Xuan Hao blamed him suddenly reaching the sixth stage of the Nascent Soul Realm on him gaining enlightenment while he was cultivating, and Feng Chen easily accepted this answer and started being happy and talking about how the heavens had blessed his Flying Sword Sect.
Truly… Just blame everything on sudden enlightenment and people won't ask anymore questions. The joys of being part of a cultivation world…
Another thing that helped was also the fact that he had always been way faster compared to anyone else in cultivation ever since entering the Flying Sword Sect and Feng Chen most likely believed he was some kind of talented heir from some kind of empires or powerful sect...
The reason for him being asked by Feng Chen to go out and help find the source of the plague was that he could pretty much be considered the second strongest in the Flying Sword Sect by now, with the Vice Sect Master Zu Fei just below him at the fifth stage of the Nascent Soul Realm.
"The plague has been spreading a lot lately and we still have no clue where it came from… A few Core Formation Realm experts sent by our sect, the rest of the four great sects and the Heavenly Sky Kingdom went to investigate the source but went missing soon after… Now we can only send someone stronger and hopefully find the source…
The Heavenly Sky Kingdom and the rest of the four sects all agreed that we would each send someone to investigate, the Heavenly Sky Kingdom will send over the most, with each of the four sects sending at least one person over. Each of you will search through one of the areas where the plague outbreak started to look for any clues." Shaking his head upon mentioning the missing Core Formation experts, Feng Chen went on to explain the plan of the four sects and the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.
"So… Why me…?" Hearing what the Feng Chen said, Xuan Hao still did not understand why he wanted to send him of all people and not Wang Hu, who was still in the sect.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Hah… From what the Alchemists and Healers managed to gather, the plague should be artificial… Meaning someone is behind the sudden plague outbreak…" Letting out a heavy sigh, Feng Chen told Xuan Hao with a weary look on his face.
"So, you want to send me as people still only think that I'm at the first stage of the Nascent Soul Realm…?" Understanding what Feng Chen meant by sending him instead of someone like Wang Hu, Xuan Hao felt a sense of danger.
The plague outbreak… Could it be related to the Black Rose Sect…? Maybe a way for the Azure Sky Kingdom to weaken the Heavenly Sky Kingdom before an attack… Or something entirely different.
"Yes! If there really is some sort of trap laid up, with your current strength, you should be able to get out without much trouble… No matter who is behind it, they are clearly not strong enough to face us head on and needs to use the plague… At most they would have the ability to kill someone at the earlier stages of the Nascent Soul Realm." Stating the conclusion that he had come to, Feng Chen looked hopefully at Xuan Hao. Hoping that he would agree to go.
"…I will go, make sure you look after my disciples for me while I'm gone!" Understanding that saying no would most likely cause the Sect Master to send someone else in his stead, Xuan Hao chose to accept the request.
The Flying Sword Sect had taken care of him for quite a few years before he transmigrated and even after, they still took great care of him and never forced him to do anything and just let him cultivate quietly in peace at his mountain peak.
He knew that it would most likely be dangerous, but at least with his current strength, he should not lose his life.
Hopefully, they would be able to find the source of the plague.
