Chapter 105 (Hendrix's POV) The files were stacked neatly on the desk, and each folder was labeled with a cryptic project name. I had found them locked in one of the medical storage cabinets while pretending to help Nurse Jessica with supplies. My heart raced as I carefully flipped through the first folder.

1-**Project ReGenesis** *Initiation Date:* June 4, 2013 *Objective:* Enhance genetic material for organ regeneration through experimental procedures.

*Participants:* 38 patients.

*Outcome:* 22 failed procedures, 10 fatalities, 6 ongoing cases.

I shuddered and closed the folder quickly before moving to the next.

- **Project Metamorphosis** *Initiation Date:* December 12, 2015 *Objective:* Implement behavioral reconditioning to eradicate dissent and enforce loyalty.

*Participants:* 25 patients.

*Outcome:* 15 patients in comatose states, 8 discharged, 2 missing.

The more I read, the more nauseated I became. These weren't just experiments. They were atrocities. - **Project Harvest** *Initiation Date:* September 5, 2017 *Objective:* Organ harvesting from "low-priority" patients to supply private buyers.

*Participants:* Classified.

*Outcome:* Active.

"Active." That single word made my blood boil.

The last folder was thinner but equally sinister: 1-**Project Obsidian** *Initiation Date:* March 3, 2018 *Objective:* Monitor patient resistance to extrpsychological stress.

*Participants:* Classified.

*Outcome:* Pending inspection.

I clenched my fists, and the edges of the folder dug into my skin. I had suspected the center was hiding dark secrets, but this... this was beyond anything I imagined.

I found Angel in the dormitory hallway. She walked hurriedly as if she had somewhere important to be. "Angel!" I called, sharper than I intended.

She stopped, but her shoulders tensed. "What do you want, Hendrix?" "We need to talk," I said as I lowered my voice.

Her eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms. "About what?" I pulled her into the nearest empty room, ignoring her protests. "Look at this," I said, thrusting the folders toward her.

She hesitated before flipping through the pages. Her face paled with every word she read. "This is... this is insane," she whispered.

"They're playing God," I said. "And we're all just her oblivious." She closed the folder, and I noticed her hand was trembling. "We need to expose this." "That's what I've been trying to tell you," I snapped. "But you're too busy romancing with Thomas 24/7 to notice what's going on around you." Her head snapped up; her eyes were blazing. "Don't you dare, Hendrix. Don't you dare make this about Thomas." "It is about him!" I shot back. "You think he's on your side, but what if he's not? What if he's part of this?" Her lips parted, but no words cout. For a moment, I thought I'd gotten through to her. But then she shook her head. "You don't know him like I do." "And you don't know him at all," I said bitterly.

The silence between us crackled with tension. It was obvious we both had a ton to say but nothing was said. "Why are you really here, Hendrix?" she asked softly now.

"To protect you," I admitted.

Her expression softened, but the distance between us felt insurmountable. "I don't need protecting. I need your support." "Support?" I scoffed. "You mean like how you've supported me? By ignoringand choosing him over me?" Her face twisted in anger. "You're impossible." "Because I still care about you," I said between gritted teeth. "Even when you don't deserve it." She stared atwith glassy eyes. I could see the conflict written all over her face. But before she could respond, I turned and walked away. I couldn't bear to hear what she had to say.

(Angel's POV)

The observation room was dimly lit. Its windows offered a panoramic view of the forest surrounding the center. Thomas was leaning against e the wall with his shirt half-buttoned and his hair tousled from our earlier... activities. I was sitting on the edge of the examination table and swinging my legs absently. "Do you ever think about what life will be like after this?" I asked, breaking the silence. He looked atblankly. "All the time." "And?" He shrugged nonchalantly. "One day at a time, Angel. That's all we can do."

His words felt like a dismissal, and my chest tightened. "Do you ever care about what we're doing here? N About the escape plan?" "Of course I care," he said defensively. "Then why do you always seem so distant when we talk about it?" He pushed off the wall and walked over to me, placing his hands on either side of me. "You're overthinking again." "No," I said firmly. "I'm noticing." He frowned, and his gaze dropped to the floor. "What do you wantto say, Angel? That I have all the answers? Because I don't." "I just want the truth," I whispered.

He tilted my chin up, forcingto meet his eyes. "The truth is, I'm doing everything I can to keep you safe." "Safe from what?" I pressed.

"From them," he was barely audible.

I becuncomfortable. "Who are 'they,' Thomas?" He hesitated, and for a moment, I thought he might actually tell me. But then he pulled away and ran a hand through his hair. "You wouldn't understand." This only increased my frustration. "Stop treatinglike a child, Thomas. I deserve to know what's going on." "And you will," he said. "When the tis right."

The conversation leftfeeling hollow. His evasiveness only added to my growing suspicion. As he m pulledinto his arms, I couldn't shake the feeling that Thomas was hiding something big. Something that could change everything. The will be updated first on this website. Cback and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
