Although he didn't defeat that squad at the same speed, he could while use Explosive Impact, Ethan still did it before the nearby squads could surround him. Since fighting while using everything around him as a weapon was quite relaxing, Ethan chose a squad lizardmen equipped with spears to be his next target. However, before charging, he confirmed Lili's position and the fact that no monster was targeting her.
"I guess even though the necromancer can feel my presence, he can't exactly feel every single thing. Most likely, he can only feel the mana when his zombies are being attacked… maybe if I focus on using only my stamina, then perhaps… no… that will probably make my sword lose its durability at a stupid pace."
Ethan was there just to buy time, and he succeeded in it since he could hear the sound of thousands of footsteps coming toward him. So, there was no reason to become greedy. Besides, Lili was there, and she looked pretty fine with the mana potions she gave her. So, he didn't have to worry about conserving his mana.
Lili couldn't help but tremble in fear when she saw so many shadows moving toward where and Ethan was. Fighting at night from so close to the enemies was scarier than she thought. It wasn't the best idea, but she decided to do something.

"That idiot… she is revealing her position," Ethan sighed. "My arms received some damage before for a reason. Although I can endure the pain, the impact numbs my arms for some seconds. I can't let that exactly happen here, right?"
Lili could understand that, but still… it was obvious that Hannah wouldn't be able to mobilize the nearby soldiers fast enough. Although half of them were awake at that moment, most of them were positioned above the walls or were being treated since they had been wounded on the previous days. It was only a matter of time before Ethan was crushed by overwhelming numbers. Still, much to Lili's surprise, she saw, in the distance, the main gate of the capital opening. After that happened, hundreds of soldiers charged toward the monsters.
"That was way too fast…" Lili muttered in shock. "Ah… she teleported them here."
Ethan still had time to completely destroy four more squads before he and Lili were teleported back to the walls. Although she wasn't that good at it, Lili even reached a point where she decided to use offensive magic since Ethan was quickly getting surrounded by enemies from three different directions. When the tension left her body, she fell on her butt on the ground but soon recovered herself when she saw the pale Hannah. She used a lot of mana to mobilize so many troops, and she had no intention of resting yet.
"Unless your mana recovers really fast, I think you went a bit too far," Ethan said while watching hundreds of soldiers crossing the main gate.
"Look who is talking," Hannah frowned. "A boy who thinks that charging at the enemy alone is a good idea. Anyway, the security of the imperial capital is at stake here, so all the people involved in the fight have a decent supply of potions to help us on the fight."
ραпdα nᴏνa| сom "That so?" Ethan turned around and then watched the battlefield. "Still, I think things aren't going to end well for us if we just keep watching."
Although they were supposed to be elite soldiers all over the world, Ethan could see and sense many of them getting killed every minute. Losing their forces was bad, but it was even worse because their losses were only strengthening the necromancer. His plan stopped much sooner than he wanted, but Ethan himself wouldn't let himself be stopped.
"You guys need to rest," Ethan said and prepared to jump the walls. "We will need your mana to confirm the position of the necromancer. Meanwhile, I'm going to give them a hand."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore Hannah could protest, Ethan jumped. Explosive Impact couldn't be used with so many allies nearby, but that wasn't the only card in Ethan's hands. Although he could fight much more efficiently alone, Ethan headed toward where the soldiers were fighting and focused on helping those who were about to die. It was the only thing he could do to keep the strength of his side and not let the enemy grow stronger.
"I guess this isn't going to be easy," Ethan forced a smile before sighing while looking at the massive creature in front of him. "As expected, fighting in groups is only more complicated.
In front of Ethan, there was a monster he didn't see before. Well, he actually saw them in some games, but that was reality, and the five meters tall beast couldn't even be compared to what he saw on a screen. It was a cyclops… a gigantic humanoid creature that had a single eye. The beast's weapon of choice was a club, or rather, it was a medium-sized tree without its leaves. The monster was strong enough to wield that as a weapon and kill several soldiers with it while swinging it around.
Before the monster could take notice of him, Ethan picked up his claymore. He threw it like a lance toward the monster's eyes, but the creature reacted fast enough to block the attack with a single hand. The monster suffered some damage, but it was barely noticeable.
While facing Ethan, the monster broke the claymore as if it were a stick and then raised its club to smash him. Ethan grabbed his sword on his back and then focused his senses on his next attack. The very moment the club was swung downward toward him, Ethan swung his bastard sword as well. It was only natural that something like that would happen, given that Ethan used all his strength alongside Brutal Swing. Still, the soldiers near him couldn't believe that the had split the monster's weapon in two just like that.
Ethan didn't stop there and jumped to attack the monster's face before it could recover. However, the beast protected its face with its left hand. Even though Ethan used the same trick, he didn't manage to split the monster's hand and head in two with his next attack, and his full-powered attack only made the beast lose two of its five fingers.
In the next moment, something unexpected happened. Ethan felt a lot more mana coming from the north, and at the same time, the fingers of the monster returned to their rightful place.
"I really hate undead monsters," Ethan sighed. "Still, I wonder for how long you can keep up with this."
