Chapter 1469: Baby, I Can’t Sleep

After half an hour, Mo Liuxi went back to his room.

Tossing and turning, he could not sleep.

Mo Liuxi had just proposed. He was now Yan Su’s fiance, and her parents had given them their blessing.

He could finally take Yan Su back home properly.

But, why was he still alone in bed that night?

Mo Liuxi couldn’t help but grab his phone to message Yan Su: “Baby, are you still up? I can’t sleep.”

Yan Su replied almost instantly: “Me neither.”

After all, they had just gone through their first-ever proposal. They were filled with all sorts of thoughts—sweet and complicated. No one could sleep like a log after what had just happened.

Mo Liuxi replied: “What a happy coincidence. How about I come over?”

Yan Su texted back: “...”

Mo Liuxi: “I haven’t experienced the pleasures of the flesh for more than a half-month now. It’s a special day, and it’s New Year. Maybe we could...”

Yan Su: “Stop it. Yan Yan is right next to me.”

Mo Liuxi: “I’ll be gentle and quiet.”

Yan Su: “What if my parents found out? My dad would flip.”

Mo Liuxi: “I’ll be really, really gentle and quiet.”

Yan Su: “I’ll go get some sleep now.”

Mo Liuxi: “...”

Mo Liuxi had to stare at his phone alone all night. He did not get any sleep at all.

The next day, many friends and relatives came over to wish the family a happy new year.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Yan Lv took the family to pay their respects to their ancestors, before going to Yan Su’s grandmother’s house in the afternoon. While the older generation was busy playing mahjong, Yan Su took Yan Yan and Mo Liuxi out for a walk in town.

So many memories of Yan Su were of that ancient town with beautiful hills and bodies of water. “Look, that’s my elementary school,” Yan Su said.

Mo Liuxi had a look—there were only three buildings, but the school was located in a perfect place, surrounded by hills and rivers. Mo Liuxi could tell that it wasn’t a poor village. “Did you go to your middle school and high school here as well?” Mo Liuxi asked.

“No, in Jingdezhen.” Yan Su explained, “This is my hometown. We have a huge china factory behind the hills. We sell those to places all over the country. My parents live in the city and only come back for vacation or just for the weekend. They need to communicate and learn from others a lot because they work in the arts. Sometimes they need to travel out of town as well. They only occasionally visit the factory. It’s my uncles who usually take care of the factory.”

“Susu, I understand now—your family has a long line of pottery making, and you are the heiress of this great family.” Mo Liuxi pinched Yan Su’s nose and said, “No wonder you are like this now.”

“Like what?” Yan Su was curious.

“Headstrong,” Mo Liuxi smiled and glanced at her. “Not seeking fame or wealth, and not competitive.”

Yan Su was a little bit embarrassed. “Yeah I guess so. I didn’t care much about those things because my family gave me everything I needed. My mom and dad wished that I could get educated and more cultured so that I could continue their work, but I am not really into ceramics.”

“It’s perfect now. What do you say, Yan Yan?” Mo Liuxi bent over and asked Yan Yan who was in the pram, wearing layers upon layers of heavy clothing.

Yan Yan waved her arms and legs, babbling happily. It was a shame that no one could understand what she was trying to say.

“Susu, you are leaving tomorrow... I can come over secretly, right?” Mo Liuxi got close to Yan Su and whispered all of the sudden.

Yan Su’s cheeks turned red. After some time, the wind delivered her message to Mo Liuxi. “Okay.”

They made their way back home after their long walk as a family.

It was two in the morning. Barely a sound could be heard.

Yan Su opened the door. Mo Liuxi slipped in, pulled her into his arms, and lifted her up.

“Baby, I don’t want you to go,” said Mo Liuxi as he buried his head into Yan Su’s shoulder.

“It’s going to be a busy year. I need to go on tours. It’s gonna get better though.” Yan Su held his face and said, “Spend more time with your daughter.”
