Agnes felt her head spinning, struggling to comprehend the situation.

She thought, “What on earth is Ryder doing? Why would he claim me as his girlfriend, especially in front of Jared?”

Jared’s gaze bore into Agnes, his voice frosty. “Is he the boyfriend you mentioned before?”

Agnes suddenly remembered that she had once told Jared she had a boyfriend.

Before she could respond, Ryder had already draped his arm over her shoulder. “Uncle, I’m sorry for not telling you

this earlier, but Agnes and I, we’ve already reconnected three years ago.”

Jared felt like he’d been shoved into a freezer, a chill radiating from him.

after I moved to Manhattan. Over the years, my workplace was very close to his hospital.”

Jared turned and headed upstairs, his steps steady.

Valeria cast a meaningful glance at Agnes and Ryder before following him.

Agnes stood in place for a long time.

“Ryder, why did you say that?” Agnes finally asked.

my uncle. I was always a step behind him, but now, I want to strike first.”

Agnes pulled her hand out of Ryder’s, “Ryder, I appreciate what you did for Nocturne, but you should know, there’s

no chance for anything to happen between us. The obstacles between Jared and me are also there between you

and me.”

Ryder responded, “I understand, you mean my mother is the culprit of your mother’s misfortune. But Agnes, isn’t

the reason why you came back to investigate this? My mother may make mistakes, but she would never use such

despicable means. I have faith in this. So, I will help you find out the truth. If things are really as you said, I will still

wait for you, whether it’s ten years or a lifetime, I will make up for my mother’s sins.”
