Looking at Veronica, Lucius really didn't know what to say

It would be one thing if she followed him with malicious intentions, but she just came out of goodwill, not to mention that she is also a heroine.

The only problem was that Lucius originally didn't want to bring people along with him when he went to steal away Landon's future chance…

He didn't know if she should bring her along or just send her back.

Lucius thought about it for a short while before eventually deciding to bring her along.

Even if someone discovered how he got this, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. 

The only reason Lucius wanted to do it by himself in the first place was solely because of his suspicious and cautious nature which made it so that he didn't want to trust anyone but himself 

Veronica coming along wasn't that big of a deal. Even if she found out about how he got this secret chance, he didn't think she would be one to go around speaking everywhere. 

Lucius was even less worried about Veronica trying anything whilst he was there, like attacking him, etc.

All of her attacks were fire based and after inheriting her [ultimate fire resistance] this was the thing he feared the least!

"Sigh! You can come along." Said Lucius

"R-really?" Asked Veronica, trying her best to hide her excitement.

"Yes, you can come. But you still need to follow my instructions. As long as you can promise to follow my every word and not do something stupid I can bring you along. Can you do that?"

"Yes! Yes! I promise that I'll listen to you so you don't have to worry about anything."

As she spoke, a beautiful smile appeared on her face that left even Lucius stunned for a few seconds

It was also at that moment that Lucius realised another benefit of bringing Veronica along:

With the addition of Veronica, Lucius continued on his journey through the endless beast Forrest.

Even with Veronica here, the journey hasn't changed much.

Lucius continued to travel as cautiously and as quietly as possible.

Even though he knew that most of the stronger beasts would be attracted away thanks to the beast enticing powder, it never hurt to be extra cautious.

The duo of Veronica and Lucius still ran into a few beasts that hadn't been attracted but the beast enticing powder.

Fortunately, the beasts that remained were either old or the ones simply too weak and timid to join in the beast tide.

Facing such beasts,  they were easily slaughtered or turned into barbecue under Veronica's scorching flames.

It was only after watching Veronica fight to this point that Lucius realised that this timid little girl may not be as helpless as she seemed.

When faced with an opponent that was rushing her down with a fierce aura she would inevitably panic and fail to cast a spell but as long as there was someone in front of her to occupy and block the enemy she could summon a fireball to deal a devastating blow to the opponent.

So with their newfound teamwork, the two continued slaughtering and devastating any of the few beasts they met along the way.

The journey continued until mid day when the bright sun hung in the sky shining down its rays through the endless canopy of trees.

But as they travelled deeper and deeper, Veronica couldn't help but get more panicked.

"L-Lucius, are you sure that we should go this far? We've already passed the area for 2nd class beasts and now we may run into 1st grade beasts!"

Veronica wasn't completely ignorant. 

As a noble lady, she had a full education of various topics and the Endless Beast forest was one of them 

Those who overextended into the Endless Beast forest recklessly without knowing their strength, were those who died. It was as simple as that!

The ones that didn't die could only thank the goddess of light for showing grace to them and allowing them to save their lives!

Veronica had a clear grasp of her and Lucius's strength. That's why she couldn't help but panic when she saw that Lucius was still continuing to walk deeper without showing any signs of stopping.

Lucius also saw Veronica's panic and calmed her down.

He grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes.

"Trust me Veronica. I wouldn't take us to a place that's dangerous."

"Well... o..okay then.."

After saying this, Veronica just put on a resolute face, prepared to follow Lucius regardless 

Lucius was prepared to go and give a deeper explanation but when he saw that Veronica agreed to follow him just like that, he was left speechless! 

After all, the endless beast forest was truly a tomb of death for those unprepared 

Could you just enter based on a guy who said the equivalent of 'trust me bro' and then carried on moving?

What Lucius didn't know was that he had got things slightly confused here

To Veronica, Lucius wasn't just anyone.

More than the family that was willing to sacrifice her for their own safety and prosperity,

More than that bastard Xander who only sought to dominate and control her 

He was the person she trusted most.

If she couldn't trust Lucius, there was really no one she could trust in the world and at that point, what was the point in living?

If Lucius knew just how dependent the girl had become on him, he would probably be a little worried, but since he didn't know about these details, he just carried on with a calm expression on his face.

He still decided to explain things to Veronica anyway.

Even if she believed in him wholeheartedly, she still deserved to know the reason he felt they were safe entering this dangerous place.
