I don’t want to see you again—Evander felt a stab in his heart when he heard that. Startled, he loosened the grip on
Angeline’s wrist.
She quickly seized the opportunity to withdraw her hand, opened the car door, and left.
Watching her fleeing the scene, he placed his slender hands on the steering wheel. The emblem badge in between
his arms reflected his angry face.
He tried to suppress his emotion, yet the fury in his eyes sold him out.
If Angeline had given him a reason to break up—even if she had fallen for someone else, he wouldn’t be so furious.
Unfortunately, she only left him a note without warning. It was hard for him to figure out what was on her mind.
At the same time, it also made him feel he had been fooled. He had never been so attached to a woman before,
yet Angeline had trampled on his heart again and again.
In that case, he would show no mercy to her as well.
Evander fished out his phone from his pocket, scanned through his phonebook, and called someone. “Sylas, please
withdraw the shares of Forrester Group and get everyone in the entertainment industry to bail out on Angeline.”
On the other end of the line, Sylas was shocked by his words and asked in confusion, “Mr. Golding, did you have any
conflict with Ms. Sorelle?”
Although Evander had yet to respond, Sylas could feel a chill running down his spine. He instinctively continued, “I’ll
do according to your instruction, Mr. Golding.”
Meanwhile, Angeline, who had just left Evander’s car, walked to the underground car park and hopped into her car
in a daze.
She felt like a huge boulder was weighing down on her chest, making her difficult to breathe.

“Ahh!” Her sharp voice echoed in the car park.
In the end, the words left her mouth.
She initially thought everything would progress as she desired after confirming her relationship with Evander. Little
did she expect such a dramatic thing would happen to her, and she couldn’t stand the thought of being with a man
who could have raped her and ruined her life.
Ring!
Her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Lillian.
She knitted her brows and swiped to answer it. “What’s the matter?”
“Ms. Sorelle, bad news! Ten minutes ago, Golding Group suddenly withdrew its investment without giving any
explanation. I tried to call them, but no one answered.” Lillian was low-spirited as she spoke. Forrester Group has
finally survived the crisis and gotten on track. I can’t believe Forrester Group will pull out their fund at such a critical
moment.
Angeline took a deep breath when she heard that. Although she looked stern and cold, there was a mocking glint in
her eyes.
She wasn’t surprised by the outcome, though.
It was indeed Evander’s style of doing things—making a clear cut once they parted ways with each other.
“Please think of a way, Ms. Sorelle. It’ll be hard for Forrester Group to gain a foothold without Golding Group’s
support.”
Angeline felt a little helpless at Lillian’s words. After some time, she regained her composure and replied, “Forrester
Group is a unique clothing brand meant for those who value it. Since my mother didn’t look for any investors to
back her up five years ago, I don’t need one either now.”
Words eluded Lillian when she heard that.
Not getting any response, Angeline continued to explain, “Forrester Group is currently selling beauty devices and
has earned a large amount of start-up capital. It’s more than enough to hire a few reputable designers and keep
the company on track.”
She already had a backup plan. It was just that she was unwilling to bow to Evander.
After discussing work matters with Lillian, Angeline drove back home.
It had been a long day, and her mood dropped drastically with Wilfred’s incident. Physically and mentally
exhausted, she didn’t get change and flung herself onto the bed once she opened the bedroom door. In no time,
she drifted off to sleep.
She felt as though she had slept for a long time and had a lot of strange dreams.
Until someone drew back the curtains and sunlight streamed in through the window, she felt the light sting and
shielded her eyes with her hands.
“Angeline, get out of your bed now. Look at the time. Are you not going to work today?” A woman’s roar suddenly
echoed in the quiet room.
Frightened, Angeline instinctively shuddered. She quickly hummed in response and woke up from sleep, vaguely
opening her eyes after she adjusted to the light.
At the sight of Nancy, she furrowed her brows and rolled over languidly. “Why are you here?”
Seeing that, Nancy stood in front of Angeline’s bed with her hands on her waist and scolded, “You still have the
nerve to ask me about that. Don’t you realize how late it is? How can you still be asleep at this hour?”

She then threw the alarm clock on the bedside table toward Angeline. The latter glanced at the time and noticed it
was already sometime past ten in the morning. Oh, my gosh! I slept through the night but didn’t feel it at all.
“Sorry, I forgot the time.” Angeline stroked her messy hair resignedly.
Nancy did a facepalm at the sight. Then, she dragged Angeline’s arm and pulled her up from the bed. “Get up to
brush your teeth and wash your face now. I brought you lunch.”
Angeline’s mind was clouded over when Nancy pulled her into the bathroom. After she was done with her washing
up, she immediately felt refreshed.
Meanwhile, Nancy was playing with her phone in the living room. In front of her were several steaming hot dishes,
and the aroma permeated the room.
Seeing that made Angeline feel her stomach growling.
She was already starving after the long sleep.
With a smile, she walked up to Nancy and hugged her from behind, planting a kiss on her cheek.
“As expected of a best friend of mine. All of them are my favorites. Thanks!” With that, she sat on the chair and
started feasting.
Looking at the lady before her, Nancy couldn’t help but click her tongue with a disapproving look. “Look at how
graceless you are. Only Mr. Golding will fall in love with you.”
Angeline’s hand holding the fork froze at her words. A touch of sadness filled in her eyes but quickly disappeared.
“We already broke up.”
“What?” Nancy leaped up from her chair, widening her eyes in shock.
“How is that possible? What happened between the two of you?”
Once again, Nancy’s words hit Angeline’s sore spot. The latter instantly lost her appetite.
Since Nancy knew all about Evander and Angeline needed to vent her feelings, Angeline told Nancy everything that
had happened between her and Evander.
